1. GENERAL
1.1 Contract Documents
1.1.1 All work of this Section shall comply with the requirements of the Contract
Documents of the Main Building Works, with the Drawings, Schedules, and with
all other Contract Documents.
1.2 Work Included
1.2.1 Gypsum plasterboard system for partitions, shaftwall, furred walls, hung or furred
ceilings, soffits and fascias, and elsewhere where gypsum plasterboard works is
shown on Drawings and in the Finishes Schedule.
1.2.2 Fire-resistive system plasterboard partitions and ceilings where shown on
Drawings.
1.2.3 Furnish and install sound insulation for gypsum plasterboard of type specified
herein at locations shown on the Drawings.
1.2.4 Furnish and install metal framing to receive laminated and other glass installations
as shown on Drawings.
1.2.5 Furnish and install horizontal noggings to all drywalls at 1500mm from finished
floor level.
1.2.6 Concealed metal reinforcing for attachment of railings, toilet partitions, grab bars,
and other items supported on gypsum plasterboard partitions and walls.
1.2.7 Installation of access doors, grilles, louvres and related frames and plaster rings
and the like, for electrical light fixture in gypsum plasterboard and plaster walls.
Additional reinforcement for support of MEP ceiling elements shall also be
provided.
1.2.8 Coordinate the installation of gypsum plasterboard with concrete work, masonry
work and hollow metal work.
1.2.9 Coordinate with work of other trades including marking and making penetrations
for mechanical and electrical services.
1.2.10 Coordinate with MEP services and provide all bridging channel members to
underside of services and the like.

1.4 Quality Assurance
1.4.1 All materials furnished under this Section, shall be in conformance with the latest
version of the specified standards / Codes of Practice and approved for use in
Kingdom of Bahrain.
1.4.2 All materials shall comply with the specified British Standards, stated in Section
01 02 10 with local building code requirements, wherever used singly or as part of
a proposed or approved system.
1.4.3 It shall be incumbent upon the Contractor to provide proof of acceptance and
approval for the use of said products, materials or systems in Kingdom of Bahrain
1.4.4 The minimum acceptable standard for materials to be furnished under this Section
shall be equal to the following British Standards (BS) for the respective materials
to be provided. In the absence of a specified British Standard, the aforementioned
standards shall prevail.
1.4.5 Tile Layouts for toilet rooms and other spaces having tile finish have been
designed for modular size tile layouts. All gypsum plasterboard partitions shall be
laid out to fit precisely into this modular design, without cutting any tile.
1.5 Submittals
1.5.1 Shop Drawings:
a) Submit Shop Drawings for any special and/or unusual gypsum
plasterboard conditions requiring clarification, interpretation and/or review
of the Architect, prior to installation.
b) Submit approved manufacturers' printed specifications, approved fire
rated gypsum plasterboard systems, and certification indicating masonry
and/or systems which are approved for use in Kingdom of Bahrain.
c) Shop Drawings submitted for review shall reflect the approved
manufacturer's standard details for gauge of studs to be used to safely
satisfy design requirements.
1.5.2 Samples:
a) Submit three (3) samples of each material specified herein:
300mm x 300mm or 300mm long, or in manufacturer's container, as
applicable for type of material submitted.
1.5.3 Manufacturer's Literature:
Submit technical and installation information for:
a) Gypsum plasterboard partition types including, shaftwall, furring and
ceiling systems fire ratings and sound ratings specified herein, shown on
the Drawings and/or required by Local Authorities.
1.5.4 Sample / Mock-Up Panels:
a) At the earliest possible time and before proceeding with gypsum
plasterboard work, erect sample panel of typical gypsum plasterboard
partitions and shaftwall.

b) Sample panels shall be not less than four metres wide, typical floor height,
finished both sides, including taping and spackling to show the work and
be reviewed by the Architect. Sample panels to be constructed as an
actual part of a designated wall area.
c) Allow the Architect to observe framing system before applying wallboard.
d) Sample panels must be reviewed by Architect before Contractor can
proceed with gypsum plasterboard work. Confirmed sample panels will
serve as standard of acceptance of gypsum plasterboard work.
e) Confirmed sample panels may become part of completed work of Project.
Rejected sample panels shall be demolished and removed immediately,
with new sample panels made until confirmation is received.
1.6 Environmental Conditions
1.6.1 Provide and maintain minimum temperature and adequate ventilation to eliminate
excessive moisture within the building in the area of the gypsum plasterboard
work, for at least 24 hours prior to, during, and after installation, as recommended
by the approved gypsum plasterboard manufacturer.
2. PRODUCTS
2.1 Acceptable Manufacturers
2.1.1 Acceptable manufacturers, subject to acceptance with specified requirements.
Other manufacturers providing similar and equal product will be given equal
consideration. Nevertheless, the gypsum plasterboard partition walls shall be
supplied by an approved company for both fire-rated and non fire-rated walls

2.2 Metal Framing Systems
2.2.1 General:
Framing system types specified herein are for general information. See Drawings
and details for specific types. All fire rated partitions shall comply with the
approved manufacturer's partitions systems, the specified standards and/or the
requirements of the local building code.
2.2.2 Floor and Ceiling Runners:
a) Channel type:
Formed from 1.00mm and 0.55mm BMT galvanised steel, width to suit
channel type metal studs of size and gauge shown on Drawings. Use
0.55mm steel studs except where 1.0mm specifically indicated on
Drawings, in specifications, or required to satisfy code and/or design
requirements. Flanges to be minimum 22mm high. Where ceiling runners
are attached to slabs above and to allow for possible deflection of the slab,
ceiling runners shall be with flanges 32mm high. Steel shall be finished in
150gm/m2 “Zincalume” or equivalent.

2.2.3 Studs, Framing and Furring:
a) Channel Type Studs:
Channel-type with holes for passage of conduit formed from 1.0mm or
0.55mm BMT galvanised steel, width as shown on Drawings. Use
0.55mm steel studs except where 1.0mm specifically indicated on
Drawings, in specifications, or required to satisfy code and/or design
requirements. Size studs as per manufacturer's recommendations to suit
design requirements on the Drawings and/or to comply with
code/authorities' requirements.
b) Furring Channels:
Hat shaped, formed from galvanised steel, 0.6mm.
c) Z-Furring Channels:
Galvanised steel channel, formed from 0.55mm BMT, 150gm/m2
“Zincalume” or equivalent galvanised steel, 64mm deep by 32mm wide;
"Z-Furring Channel" or 1.5mm BMT where specifically shown on the
Drawings; sizes shall be as indicated on the Drawings.
d) Special Metal Studs for Corners:
Formed from 1.0mm BMTgalvanised steel, to suit acute and obtuse
corners indicated on Drawings. Custom manufactured.
e) Rectangular Hollow Section Studs
70 x 70 x 3mm thick galvanised steel where specifically indicated on
Drawings.
f) Miscellaneous Accessories:
As needed for the proper completion of the work of this Section.
2.3 Insulation
2.3.1 Mineral Fibre Acoustical Insulation (Sound Attenuation Blanket):
Paperless, non-combustible, semi-rigid mineral fibre (80kg/m3) mat, 50mm thick
glass fibre quilt with a minimum density of 80kg/m3 in walls (unless otherwise
indicated), 100mm thick on ceilings (unless otherwise indicated) as shown in
drawings or indicated in schedules; of approved type, weight and density to meet
required STC rating.
2.4 Gypsum Plasterboard
2.4.1 Unless otherwise indicated on Drawings, or details, provide 12mm thick Regular
Gypsum Plasterboard, 1200mm wide, in maximum standard length, with tapered
edges.
2.4.2 Fire-Resistive Gypsum Plasterboard:
12mm thick, unless otherwise shown on the drawing 1200mm wide, in maximum
standard lengths as required; with tapered edges.
2.4.3 Water-Resistant Gypsum Plasterboard
12mm thick, with moisture resistant core that stops water wicking up the board
and manufactured to requirement of ASTM C630.
2.4.4 Special High Strength Plasterboard
19mm thick plasterboard with the following performance charateristics:

2.4.5 Approved ready mixed joint compound for taping, topping or texturing in gypsum
plasterboard construction.
2.5 Fasteners and Adhesives
2.5.1 Adhesives for Gypsum Plasterboard:
As recommended by manufacturer
2.5.2 Screws for wallboard application
a) For application of single layer or base layer of wallboard to metal framing:
30mm long, Type S, bugle head
b) For application of face layer of wallboard to metal framing in double layer
construction: 41mm long, Type S, bugle head.
c) For wallboard to wallboard application: 38mm long, Type G, bugle head,
in conjunction with laminating adhesive.
2.6 Metal Trim
2.6.1 Corner Beads:
a) For 90o External Corners (at gypsum plasterboard):
Example - Expamet galvanised steel plasterboard corner bead
ref. 548.
b) For 90o Internal Corners (at gypsum plasterboard):
Example - Expamet galvanised steel feature bead ref. 513.
2.6.2 Edge Beads:
a) For Gypsum Plasterboards:

2.7 Miscellaneous Materials
2.7.1 Water:
Clean, fresh and suitable for drinking.
2.7.2 Wood Nailers & Blocking:
a) For specification of wood nailers or blocking materials, see Section 06100
- Rough Carpentry.
b) Provide only wood members that have received fire retardant treatment
for any attachment of miscellaneous items in gypsum plasterboard
finishes.
2.8 Trim and Joint Treatment Materials
2.8.1 Joint Reinforcing:
Follow approved manufacturer's recommendations.
2.8.2 Compounds for Interior Application:
The following shall be to approved manufacturer's recommendations:

a) Prefill and patching:

2.9 Delivery, Storage and Handling
2.9.1 Deliver, store, and handle gypsum plasterboard materials in the proper manner to
prevent damage. Deliver materials in their original, unopened containers or
bundles. Store wallboard in flat stacks, protected from possible damage, the
elements and moisture with heavy plastic sheeting.
2.9.2 Remove and replace coverings as needed during the course of the Project.

3. EXECUTION
3.1 General Installation Requirements
3.1.1 General:
a) Install gypsum plasterboard work and cementitious panels as shown on
Drawings, in accordance with approved gypsum plasterboard
manufacturer's current handbook details, printed instructions and
specifications as shown on Drawings and specified herein. Gypsum
plasterboard systems shall be provided in accordance with specific details
for type, design and thickness shown on the Drawings. Due to the critical
nature of the gypsum plasterboard installation, particularly related to close
tolerance and fire ratings, the Contractor is advised to review all gypsum
plasterboard installation details before proceeding.
b) All metal framing for gypsum plasterboard walls and partitions shall
extend from floor to underside of structural system above, unless
otherwise indicated on Drawings. Gypsum plasterboard partitions shall
not be attached to ceiling systems unless specifically detailed in that
manner.
c) Use special corner metal studs and special metal trim corner beads at
acute and obtuse corners of intersecting walls and partitions.
d) Spot-grout metal door frames at the jamb-anchor clips with joint
compound after the stud has been installed and just before the gypsum
plasterboard is installed. If second layer of gypsum plasterboard
indicated, rake out compound after installing first layer of gypsum
plasterboard.
e) Provide concealed reinforcement for attachment of wall railings, toilet
partitions, wash basins, wall cupboards and other items to be supported
on the gypsum plasterboard. Concealed reinforcement shall span
between not less than three (3) metal studs and be attached thereto.
Coordinate placing of concealed reinforcement with all trades, prior to
placing gypsum plasterboard finish. Concealed reinforcement details to
be shown on Shop Drawings submitted for review, prior to installation.
Provide additional concealed reinforcement / horizontal nogging at
2000mm above finished floor level for all partitions as provision for
installation of pictures, display articles, and the like.
f) Install access doors located in gypsum plasterboard work, at walls and/or
ceilings furnished as specified elsewhere. Neatly cut boards to receive
access doors and provide all reinforcement for support as required.
3.1.2 Fire-Rated Assemblies:
a) Install fire-rated assemblies in accordance with tested prototype and any
deviation shall be supported by assessment reports from recognised
authority, or a full-scale fire test shall be conducted when required. Test
reports for the fire-rated gypsum plasterboard assembly types shall be
submitted for review, and be acceptable to the Local Authorities and the
Architect prior to installation.
b) The 2 hour fire-rated acoustic wall shall comprise of 2 layers of 19mm
thick gypsum plasterboard, staggered joints with protective layer of 6mm
'Cape Board' or approved equivalent to MEP platform side fixed to
channel purlins at 610mm centreline to 600mm depth truss to Structural
Engineer's details. Insulation shall be of 80mm thick mineral wool quilt
of density 144 kg/m3. Siding joint to be formed with intumescent foam
strip, to maintain 2 hour fire rating.

c) Cavity Barriers shall be incorporated where required, which shall be
designed and installed in accordance with the requirements of the Local
Authorities.
3.1.3 Sound Insulated Partitions:
Install sound-rated partitions in accordance with the Drawings. All fixings shall be
in accordance with maunfacturer’s recommendations.
3.1.4 Gypsum Plasterboard Application:
a) See Drawings and schedules for all gypsum plasterboard types. Use fire-
rated gypsum plasterboard where indicated on Drawings or required for
all fire-rated assembles.
Use water-resistant gypsum plasterboard where indicated on Drawings
and where subject to moisture. Install water-resistant gypsum
plasterboard, in full, large sheets (no scraps) to minimize joints.
b) Apply with long dimension parallel to stud framing members, and with
abutting edges occurring over stud flanges.
c) Use maximum length to minimize end joints. Neatly fit and stagger end
joints.
d) Install gypsum plasterboard for walls and partitions from floor to underside
of structural system above, unless indicated otherwise on Drawings.
Gypsum plasterboard shall be neatly cut to fit around beams and profile
of structural slab so as to provide a tight seal.
e) Neatly cut to fit around outlets, switch boxes, framed openings, piping,
ducts, and other items.
f) Screw fasten gypsum plasterboard with power-driven electric screws
driver, screw heads to slightly depress surface of gypsum plasterboard
without cutting paper, screws not closer than 9mm from edges and ends.
g) Where studs are doubled-up, screw fasten gypsum plasterboard to both
studs in a staggered pattern.
3.1.5 Metal Trim:
Install and mechanically secure in accordance with manufacturer's instructions,
and finish with 3 coats of joint compound, feathered and sanded smooth with
adjacent gypsum plasterboard surface, in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions.
a) Corner Beads:
Install specified corner beads in single lengths at all external corners.
b) Edge Beads:
Install specified edge beads in single lengths at all terminating edges of
gypsum plasterboard exposed to view, where edges abut dissimilar
materials, where edges would be exposed to view, and elsewhere where
shown on Drawings. Where indicated on Drawings, seal joint between
metal edge bead and adjoining surface with specified gasket, 3mm wide
minimum and set back 3mm from face of gypsum plasterboard, unless
other size and profile are indicated on Drawings.
3.1.6 Joint Treatment and Spackling:
a) Joints between face gypsum plasterboard in the same plane, joints at
internal corners of intersecting gypsum plasterboard walls and partitions
and joints at internal corners of intersections between ceilings and walls
or partitions shall be filled with joint compound, reinforced with reinforcing
tape, and finished with joint compound.

b) Screw heads and other depressions shall be filled with joint compound
and sanded smooth.
c) Joint compound shall be applied in 3 coats, feathered and finish surface
sanded smooth with adjacent gypsum plasterboard surface.
d) Treatment of joints and screw heads with joint compound is also required
where gypsum plasterboard will be covered by finish materials which
require smooth surface, such as paint, acoustic treatments, wall
coverings, fabric, and the like.
e) Treat raw cut edges, joints and fasteners of water resistant gypsum
plasterboard where ceramic tile will be applied.
3.2 Furred Gypsum Plasterboard
3.2.1 Metal Furring Installation for Non-Insulated Walls & Partitions:
a) Use specified metal furring channels or types shown on the Drawings.
Run hat-shaped metal furring channel framing members vertically, spaced
600mm o.c. maximum. Fasten furring channels to concrete or masonry
surfaces with power-driven fasteners or concrete stub nails spaced
600mm o.c. maximum through alternate wing flanges (staggered) of
furring channel.
b) Furring channels shall be shimmed as necessary to provide a plumb and
level backing for gypsum plasterboard.
c) Furring channel end splices shall be provided by nesting channels at least
200mm and securely anchoring to concrete or masonry with two fasteners
in each wing.
3.2.2 Metal Furring Installation for Insulated Walls and Laminated Glass Installation:
a) Use specified Z Furring Channels. Erect insulation vertically and hold in
place with Z-furring channels spaced 600mm o.c. Insulation is not
required behind laminated glass installation.
b) Except at exterior corners, attach narrow flanges of furring channels to
wall with concrete stub nails or power-driven fasteners spaced 600mm
o.c. At exterior corners, attach wide flange of furring channel to wall with
short flange extending beyond corner; start from this furring channel with
a 50mm strip of insulation followed by furring channel in the normal
manner. At interior corners, space second channels no more than 300mm
from corner and cut insulation to fit.
c) Hold insulation in place until gypsum panels are installed with 250mm long
staple site-fabricated from 1.2mm tie wire and inserted through slot in
channel. Install plywood backing panels for laminated glass installation
as specified in Section 06200 Finish Carpentry.
3.3. Metal Stud Gypsum Plasterboard
3.3.1 Runner Installation:
Use channel type. Align accurately at floor and at underside of structural system
above.
a) Where wall or partition specifically indicated on Drawings, to terminate at
underside of suspended ceiling, anchor runner to suspended ceiling,
otherwise all partitions shall continue to structure above. Where runners
are anchored to suspended ceiling, provide proper framing behind ceiling
and secure runner and the ceiling assembly.

b) Anchor runners securely 600mm o.c. maximum with power-driven
anchors to floor slab, with power-driven anchors to structural slab or
structural framing above. See special details which may require gypsum
plasterboard to be isolated from adjoining construction.
c) Use 0.55mm runners, except use 1.0mm runners where specifically
indicated on Drawings, specified herein and/or required by manufacturers
design criteria.
d) Deflection of Structure Above:
To allow for possible deflection of structure above metal stud gypsum
plasterboard, provide 1.0mm top runners with 32mm minimum flanges.
Include provision for deflection of building structure to ensure structural
loads are not transferred to studs.
e) Install runner channels also at heads and sills of openings. Secure
runners at openings by cutting flanges, turning up webs and securing to
studs.
f) Butt, no miter, runners at wall intersections and corners. Lap runners and
screw channels together.
3.3.2 Stud Installation:
Use channel type. Position vertically in runners, spaced to suit height conditions
but not more than 400mm on centres and at no greater distance than 50mm from
butting walls, partitions and corners. Maximum unsupported length of steel studs
shall be governed by manufacturer's printed tables for same. All studs over
maximum height shall be doubled and braced. Where special details are not
covered by manufacturer's standard details, or tables, submit for review of the
Archtiect prior to installation.
a) Anchor studs to runners at partition intersections, at partition corners and
where partition abuts other construction to runners with sheet metal
screws through each stud flange and runner flange.
b) Install metal stud horizontal bracing, wherever vertical studs are cut or
gypsum plasterboard is cut for passage of pipes, ducts, or other
penetrations, and anchor horizontal bracing to vertical studs with sheet
metal screws.
c) At jambs of door frames and borrowed light frames install double-up studs
(back-to-back) from floor to ceiling runners, and securely anchor studs to
jamb anchors of frames and to runners with screws. After anchoring studs
to door frames, screw doubled-up studs together on both sides (at 300mm
o.c.). At each jamb of doors exceeding either 900mm in width or 55mm
in thickness, or both, install a 100mm hot-rolled structural channel to
structure above, and adequately anchored at each end.
d) Over heads of door frames and at heads and sills of all openings install
cut-to-length section of runner with flanges slit and web bent to allow
flanges to overlap adjacent vertical studs by at least 150mm, and securely
anchor runner to adjacent vertical studs with sheet metal screws. Install
cut-to-length vertical studs from runner (over heads of door frame and
openings) to ceiling runner 400mm maximum on centre and at vertical
joints of gypsum plasterboard and securely anchor studs to runners with
sheet metal screws.
e) At control joints, install doubled-up studs (back-to-back) from floor to
ceiling runners, with minimum 7mm thick tightly wedged, continuous
gasket between studs. Where required by code, gasket shall be
approved, fire resistant type.

f) When necessary, splice studs with 200mm minimum nested laps and
attach flanges together with two sheet metal screws in each flange.
g) Gauges:
Generally all studs shall be No. 0.55mm, except use 1.0mm studs at door
frames and where indicated on Drawings or required by manufacturer's
design tables.
h) Erect three studs at corner and intermediate intersections of partitions.
i) Ensure that electrical boxes are not installed back-to-back in same stud
space.
3.3.3 Accessories
a) At external corners, install corner beads secured to framing at 150mm o.c.
on alternate flanges.
b) At board edges, secure casing beads at 300mm o.c. at edges exposed to
view, where board butts against other materials with no trim to conceal
junction, at control joints, at perimeter of ceiling surfaces, at tops of
partitions where they stop against continuous ceiling surfaces, and where
otherwise indicated on Drawings.
c) Incorporate expansion joints to coincide with building expansion joints,
and where otherwise indicated.
d) Install control joints in interior gypsum board systems at no greater
spacing than 10m for walls and 15m for ceilings in each direction, at
perimeters of ceilings where they abut walls and other vertical surfaces,
or as otherwise indicated.
Line-up control joints with joints in other construction or with centre lines
of mullions, columns, piers, or similar building elements.
e) Install casings and thermal breaks at junctions of gypsum board edges
with exterior door, window and screen frames.
3.3.4 Runners and Studs at Chase Walls:
As specified above for "Runners" and "Studs" and as specified herein:
a) Chase walls shall have a double row of floor and ceiling runners with metal
studs 400mm o.c. maximum and positioned vertically in the runners so
that the studs are opposite each other in pairs with the flanges pointing in
the same direction.
b) Anchor all studs to runner flanges with sheet metal screws through each
stud flange and runner flange.
c) Provide cross bracing between the rows of studs by attaching pieces of
gypsum plasterboard (15mm thick x 300mm minimum by chase width) to
the stud webs with minimum 30mm screws spaced 200mm o.c. (minimum
3 screws per stud web). Space cross bracing not over 900mm o.c.
vertically.
3.3.5 Gypsum Plasterboard Installation with Single Layer Application:
a) Install gypsum plasterboard with long dimension parallel to framing
member and with abutting edge joints over web of framing member.
Joints on opposite sides of wall shall be arranged so as to occur on
different studs. Fasten gypsum plasterboard to framing member with
minimum 30mm screws spaced 200mm o.c.. along vertical abutting edges
and 300mm o.c. in field.

b) Extend board into door, window and other opening reveals; behind
mirrors, fitments, and other applied items of a fixed nature; and on metal
stud partitions to structure above, unless noted otherwise on Drawings.
c) Back all joints with a framing number.
d) Install board in maximum lengths and widths to minimize joints, and in
lengths of 1800mm minimum and stagger end joints where they are
unavoidable.
e) Start application on walls at corners of rooms.
3.3.6 Acoustical Insulation (Sound Attenuation Blanket) Installation:
Install where indicated on Drawings and/or Finishes Schedule. Place sound
attenuation blanket between studs and staple to back of gypsum plasterboard,
tightly friction fit against studs, penetrations and adjacent insulation.
3.4 Gypsum Plasterboard Ceiling
3.4.1 Inserts, Hangers and Metal Furring (hot rolled or cold rolled steel):
See Section 09 24 00 - Metal Furring, for suspension systems for gypsum
plasterboard hung ceilings.
a) Verify that bottom elevations of main runners are correct with respect to
both anticipated dead load weight of gypsum plasterboard work and to
required gypsum plasterboard work ceiling elevation.
b) If elevations of main runners are not correct, corrections shall be made in
accordance with Section 09 24 00.
3.4.2 Metal Furring Channels:
a) Space 400mm o.c. maximum. Attach to main runner channels with furring
channel clips (on alternate sides of main runner channels) or with two
strands of 1.6mm galvanized soft steel tie wire (saddle tied to main runner
channel).
b) Furring channels shall not be let into or come in contact with abutting
masonry walls, but shall be isolated from same with high density, rigid,
fiberglass, not less than 25mm thick.
c) End splices shall be provided by nesting furring channels no less than
200mm and securely wire tied.
d) At light troffers or any openings that interrupt the furring channels, install
additional cross reinforcing to restore lateral stability of grillage.
3.4.3 Gypsum Plasterboard Installation:
a) Install single, or multiple layers of gypsum plasterboard, where indicated
on Drawings. All joints to be staggered.
i) Gypsum plasterboard of standard maximum length shall be
applied with the long dimension at right angles to the furring
channel and fastened with minimum 30mm screws spaced
300mm o.c. in the field of the board and along abutting ends.
Provide additional lengths screws for multiple layers.
ii) All abutting end or edge joints shall occur over the web surface of
the furring channel and shall be fitted neatly and accurately with
end joints staggered.
iii) Gypsum plasterboard shall be properly supported around all cut-
outs and openings in the ceiling.

3.4.4 Acoustical and Thermal Insulation:
Where shown and/or detailed on the Drawings lay thermal or acoustical insulation
on top of gypsum plasterboard being installed with joints tightly butted.
3.4.5 Duct Enclosures:
Where details indicate ducts to be enclosed with gypsum plasterboard, provide all
clips, wires, and the like. to accomplish same without screwing into duct. Internal
insulation of ducts will be provided under ACMV work.
3.5 Coordination
3.5.1 The Contractor's attention is directed to the requirement to completely coordinate
the Work of this Section with all other trades and/or specification sections,
particularly relating to gasket, fillers, sealants, rigid board insulation, and the like.
3.5.2 Delegating the furnishing and/or installation of said items shall be the responsibility
of the Contractor.
3.5.3 Secure all the required building permits well in advance of the time required to
supply materials and install the specified system.
