CHEERDANCE COMPETITION

GUIDELINES and MECHANICS

BASIC INFORMATION

1. The competition will be held on November 24, 2012, 7:30 pm at F. Bustamante National
High School covered court.
2. There will be NO REGISTRATION FEE.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. The contest is open to all groups in or outside Davao City.


2. Participants may come from any sort of team (College students, High school students,
band members, organization members and others)
3. Each team should be composed of a minimum of fifteen(15) and a minimum of thirty
(30) members to include the props and back up dancers.
4. A form to be given per entry shall be submitted at least 30 minutes before the
competition starts.
5. Each participating team shall submit a minimum of 45 seconds and maximum of 2
minutes video presentation about their group, a brief talk of how they were formed,
their message to the viewers and others as long as relevant to the competition. This
shall be submitted in a flash drive 30 minutes before the competition starts.

MUSIC/DANCE ROUTINES/TIME MATTERS/COSTUMES/PROPS

1. Participating teams are given the free-hand for their choice of music and costumes.
2. The use of drums and other instruments are allowed.
3. CD’S must be submitted at least 30 minutes before the competition starts. Back up is
highly encouraged.
4. Dance routines are freestyle. It could include hip hop, modern, ethnic and etc…….
5. The performance must at least five (5) minutes and shall not exceed (10) minutes to
include entrance and exit.
6. The committee has prepared official timer to take note of time consumed by each
group, however, for equality, each team can assign one representative to be with the
timer assigned by the committee and eye witness the process of “time keeping”.
7. A one-minute pre-set will be given each team. After such the emcee will signal “go” and
the timer starts.
8. A yellow flag will be raised to indicate 8-minute time consumption and a red flag to
indicate 10-minutes time consumption.
9. Costume, props, apparel and accessories are free of choice but MUST be properly
secured.

STUNTS/ACROBATS/LIFTINGS

1. Stunts and lifting are encouraged.


2. Tossing is strictly prohibited.
3. 3rd degree lifting is not allowed.(Lifting is limited to second level only)

CHEERS AND YELLS

1. Yells and cheers must always promote the team they represent.
2. Loudness and Clearness of the words is encouraged.
3. Profanity and other inappropriate language are strictly prohibited.

INTERRUPTION OF PERFORMANCE

1. In the event performance is interrupted because of technical reasons caused by the


event equipment, facilities, etc. the team shall be given the option to either resume the
performance from where it stopped or repeat their entire performance.
2. In the event performance is interrupted because of failure of team’s own equipment
supplies, tools, music, props, acts or any of the same kind, the team either continues the
performance or withdraws from the competition.
3. In the event of injury, the team will be given the authority to decide whether to
continue the performance or not.
4. The committee shall not be responsible for any accident that could happen during the
performance.

PENALTIES/POINT DEDUCTION

1. Failure to follow the GENERAL UIDELINES no.3 and no.5is subject to disqualified.
2. Failure to follow mechanics on STUNTS/ACROBATS/LIFTINGS is subject to an 8-point
deduction on the final score.
3. Failure to submit CD(s) and flash drive(s) on the allotted time is a 2-point deduction on
the final score on the final score.
4. A deficit or excess of one (1) minute on allotted time of performance is subject to a 2-
point deduction per minute on the final score.
5. Any deficit or excess on the allotted number of participants is subject to a 5-point
deduction on the final score.
6. Point deduction will be done by the powerhouse.

TECHNICAL RULES

1. Three to five judges will score the whole performance.


2. Each judge is responsible for scoring all the categories of the routine.
3. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

Each presentation will be judged according to the following to wit:

 Choreography/Execution - 40%
- Formation
- Variation
- Difficulty
 Mastery - 20%
- Coordination
- Rhythm
- Timing/Synchronization
- Precision
 Costume and Props - 15%
- Blending of Colors
- Design
- Creativity
 Cheers and Yells - 10%
- Loudness and Clearness of the voice
- Content
 Video Presentation - 5%
 Originality - 5%
 Over-all Impact - 5%

CASH PRIZES

Of all the participating team, three will be proclaimed s winners with the following
prizes to wit:

1st place – P10,000

2nd place – P7,000

3rd place – P5,000

Consolation prizes – P1,000
