INTRODUCTION
DirectView DV-X1
The DV-X1 implements audio and video recording in a compact body-worn unit. This product is an all-weather
device, specially designed to meet the needs of Law Enforcement, Military, and Private Agencies. The DV-X1
records multimedia in real-time and ensures secure retrieval and analysis. The recorded events are transferred to
a storage solution via USB/HDMI connection.

OPERATING THE DV-X1
POWER BUTTON
Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the Body Camera. Once powered on, the camera system will go to the default preview mode.
Pressing the ON/OFF button while in standby mode will turn off the LCD screen and enter power-saving mode. (Note: that the
LCD screen will also turn off in Recording Mode, however audio and video are still recording.) Pressing the ON/OFF button
again will exit power saving mode. The system interface is shown below.
PHOTOGRAPY
Photos can be taken by pressing the PHOTO BUTTON. Photos will be saved on the internal memory. The continuous-shoot
picture number as well as image quality and resolution can be set using the menu button.
VIDEO RECORDING
Press the left and right buttons to zoom digitally. The left button will zoom out and the right button will zoom in. Press the VIDEO
RECORDING BUTTON and the unit will beep, indicating that recording mode is active. There will also be a red indicator light,
as shown below. Press the VIDEO RECORDING BUTTON again to stop recording. The media is saved automatically to the
internal memory.

AUDIO RECORDING
Press the AUDIO RECORDING button and the indicator light will turn to yellow. Audio recording is now active. Press the
AUDIO RECORDING button again and the audio recording will stop. All audio will be saved automatically.
VIDEO PLAYBACK
On the Main Preview Screen, press the “M” or “Menu” button and choose Video. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to choose
which video to view. Press the OK button to play the video. In the playback settings, the volume can be adjusted by pressing
volume up or down. Press and hold down the LEFT button to rewind or the RIGHT button to fast forward the video. To pause the
video, press the OK button. After viewing the video, it will automatically be entered into the recent video file list.
PICTURE REVIEW
In preview mode, press the “M” or “Menu” button to enter the Menu Screen. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to choose the
PHOTO icon. Press the OK button to view the photo list. Press the LEFT or RIGHT BUTTON to choose the picture you would
like to view and press the OK button. Press PHOTO BUTTON to return to the Main Menu Screen, Press the PHOTO BUTTON
again to return to the preview screen.

AUDIO RECORD PLAYBACK
In preview mode, press “M” or “Menu” to enter the Playback Menu Interface. Press the RIGHT BUTTON to choose “VOICE”.
Then press the OK BUTTON to enter the Playback Interface (The PLAYBACK BUTTON is in the “FILE CHECKING” of
“SETTING”, it can be viewed as a list or mini-preview mode). Press the LEFT or RIGHT BUTTON to choose the file that you
want to play back, then press the “OK” BUTTON to enter playback interface. Press the “OK” BUTTON again to start playback.
During playback, the volume can be adjusted by pressing and releasing the LEFT or RIGHT BUTTON. To skip the audio forward
press and hold the RIGHT BUTTON. To skip the audio backwards press and hold the LEFT BUTTON. When playback is finished
the file will enter the recent audio list. Press the PHOTO BUTTON to return to preview mode.
MENU SETTING
In Main Preview Screen mode, press the OK button. Press LEFT or RIGHT button to choose SETUP. Then press the OK button.
To return to the Main Preview Screen press the PHOTO BUTTON.
IR MODE
In SETTING menu, Infrared SETTING can be set to “Auto”, “Manual” or, “OFF” mode. The infrared lamp will not be on during
the daytime. The infrared lamp will be activated automatically during a low light condition. The image will change to black and
white automatically (if on AUTO mode). If on MANUAL mode, Infrared Mode can be switched on by pressing and holding
Audio Recording Button. Pressing it again for two seconds will turn it off. While in Auto Mode, IR Function will turn on in low
light environment.

AV INPUT (Optional)
The DV-X1 contains an AV input for an auxiliary camera. The image will appear on the LCD screen of the body camera. In
Preview Mode, press the “OK” button to enter Menu Interface, press Left or Right Button to choose inside camera or external
camera, then press “OK” Button to switch the function.
TIME SETTINGS
The date and time is required to be set from initial start-up. The default password is “000000”.
RESET KEY
The Reset Key is used in special situations, such as system errors. Press this key to shut down the body camera and then press
On/Off key to reboot.
USER ID
The USER ID can be modified in the SETTING mode of the menu with a password. The initial password is “000000”.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Dust and fingerprints may accumulate on the lens and affect the performance of the body camera.
To clean the DV-X1 use a soft, damp cloth on the surface. Do not immerse the DV-X1 body camera in water or cleaning
solutions. Do not use harsh cleaners or solvents.
Do not use Windex or similar type cleaners on the camera lens. Do not place lens under running water. Try to avoid using the
body camera in the rain.
A fully charged battery should provide enough power for approximately 8-10 hours of normal operation depending on usage and
settings. When the power is low the camera will give 2 warnings. A vibration and a red indicator light will be displayed. With
the power off connect the camera to the charger with USB cable. The battery will be charging when the indicator light is blue.
Recharge your depleted battery as soon as possible. Please charge the battery for at least 8 hours before initial use. When storing
the device for a long duration always remove and store the battery in a cool, dry location. Always dispose of used batteries in
accordance with local laws and regulations. Do not place battery near a heat source or open flame. Do not dispose of battery in
fire.
