It is with great enthusiasm that I am applying for an instructional leadership position with Math Curriculum Specialist. I
have received a Master’s degree in Information Technology from American Intercontinental University, hold an EC-4
Generalist Teaching Certification, and have completed 30 hours of coursework toward obtaining my Master’s in
Education Leadership.
As the Math and Intermediate Department Chair at Mabel B. Wesley Elementary School, I observe, demonstrate, consult
with and assist individual classroom teachers in direct instruction and classroom performance, resulting in a 40% increase
in 4th grade math scores in one academic year. I am responsible for coordinating and cooperating with the Principal and
other campus leaders in formulating in service training programs for teachers within the individual building. As a teacher
mentor, I assist with Pre K- 5th grade character development and discipline as well as intervention instruction. In addition
to being the Math Team Leader, I am also the UIL and PBIS coordinator for my campus.
As the 4th Grade Math Teacher, Math Chair and Lead Teacher at Wesley Elementary School, I oversaw curriculum and
instruction, campus culture, character development, and campus morale. I worked closely with faculty to realign the
curriculum and modify instruction to best prepare students for the STAAR exams. Additionally, I was appointed as the
chairperson in charge of data analysis, school improvement planning, instructional effectiveness, stakeholder relations and
assessment development. This experience has magnified my site planning and collaborative leadership abilities
improving campus’ math scores by 50% over a three-year period.
Serving as a teacher and instructional leader, I aspire to create and maintain a safe environment, positive school culture,
and educational program conducive to student achievement. My resume illustrates specific examples of my leadership
and teaching duties. My evaluations have always highlighted my strengths as a creative thinker, problem solver and a
long-range planning individual with the ability to communicate with diverse populations. I believe that my strengths and
abilities will complement and add to your school’s ideologies and expectations.
I enjoy the challenges of education and working with teachers, parents, students, and the community. I look forward to
the opportunity to make education exciting for all students. I firmly believe that I can be an effective instructional leader
for Houston Independent School District, a school that has a strong reputation for providing opportunities for high
academic achievement and personal growth for all of its student population. I have enclosed my resume. If I can provide
any further information, please feel free to call or e-mail me.
Sincerely,
Christina Gantt
