Lesson 1 Wordless Book
Lesson 1 Wordless Book
Lesson 1 Wordless Book
TEACHER’S PREPARATION:
Make a wordless book with colors: gold, black, red, white, green
INTRODUCTION:
Present the wordless book to the children. Have you seen a book with no words in it? Flip through
the pages and tell the child that this is a very special book. It tells a very important story using
only colors. Return to the first gold spread to begin sharing the message of salvation. Reveal the
remaining colors as your presentation proceeds.
Rev 21:4 “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death,
sadness, crying, or pain”.
Rev 21:21 “The twelve gates were twelve pearls; each gate having been made from a
single pearl. And the street of the city was made of pure gold as clear as glass”.
Link: But there is something that prevents us from being with God.
What are some things that you think of when you see the dark page?
The dark page represents that something that prevents us from being with God — sin.
Do you know what "sin" means?
Telling lies, disobeying your parents, hurting others and being selfish are examples of sins
All of us have sinned
The punishment for our sins is that we can't be with God in heaven.
If God can only allow those with clean hearts into heaven, do you think you will be able to join
God in heaven?
The red color in the Wordless Book represents the blood of Jesus — the only way our
hearts can be made clean.
God loves us so much that he sent his Son, Jesus, to earth
Do you know who Jesus is?
Jesus was a man who was different from any other person
Jesus is God and never sinned
Jesus came from heaven to earth to take the punishment for our sins.
Instead of us being punished, he took our place
Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins?
Jesus died on the cross so that all the wrong things that we have done can be forgiven
And on the third day, Jesus became alive again
Rom 5:8 “But God shows his great love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were
still sinners”
Rom 6:23 “The payment for sin is death. But God gives us the free gift of life forever in
Christ Jesus our Lord”
Acts 13:30, 31 “But God raised him up from the dead! After this, for many days, those who
had gone with Jesus from Galilee to Jerusalem saw him”
Link: When Jesus took the punishment for our sins, something amazing happened.
The amazing thing is that our hearts can now be made clean — even cleaner than this
clean page.
Do you want your heart to be made clean?
John 1:12 “But to all who did accept him and believe in him he gave the right to become
children of God”
John 3:16 “God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that
whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life”
Invite the child to sincerely pray for forgiveness and for Jesus to come into his/her life.
Saying this prayer sincerely means:
You are truly sorry for all the wrong things you have done
You truly believe that Jesus took the punishment for your sins
You truly want to start a relationship with Jesus to help you turn from all the wrong things
you have done and do what is right
SAMPLE PRAYER:
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for loving me. I know that I have sinned. I have done things that are wrong. I
believe that you died on the cross to take the punishment for my sins. Please forgive all of my
sins and make my heart clean. Please come into my life and help me turn away from doing wrong.
Thank you that with a clean heart, I can have a relationship with you now and will one day be with
you in heaven. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
After praying for forgiveness and for Jesus to come into your life, you now have a special
relationship with him.
Do you know what you need to do next?
It is important that you grow in your relationship with Jesus. You can do this by:
Talking to God
Reading God’s word, the Bible, and
Obeying him
