Vikram completed his diploma and bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He is now working as an electrical engineer but wants to enhance his skills in project management.

Vikram has completed his diploma and bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Panjab Technical University. He has work experience as an electrical executive engineer.

Vikram chose to study in Australia to gain practical skills and a robust skill set from pragmatic techniques. The University of South Australia offers the course and scholarships. Multiple intakes and a different assessment system also attracted him.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My name is Mr. Vikram, holding residency in Ludhiana, Punjab. I belong to a well

settled family. In my family, there are 4 members including me where my father is an
Army retired officer and now working in private sector as a Security In charge in
Income Tax Department. However, my mother is running a boutique and I have one
younger brother & he is doing his graduation.

I completed my Matriculation in 2008. After that some of my close friends were

choosing to pursue 12th but my parents guided me that diploma in electrical
engineering is a good option. I went for same and completed my diploma and
bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Panjab technical University Chandigarh.
After completing my bachelor’s degree. I got professional job in very reputed
industry Trident Ltd Ludhiana in September 2014 as an electrical executive
engineer (on 6 Lakhs per annum INR) & worked till February 2018. After that I tried
in Government sector in Electricity department. But after trying hard in many
entrances I always lacked with 0.25 or 0.50 marks. The main reasons were lots of
privileges are provided to other backward classes in terms of Fees, admissions cut out
related competition & what not.

These factors make me think to drop the idea of pursuing further in government
sector & go for master’s as I do believe that higher education always leads to a
promising career and a respectable position in the society, which everyone seeks in
today's life.

I did 2 to 3 projects in trident ltd Ludhiana during my work tenure. I had very good
experience in projects execution but not in a project management so to enhance my
skills in project management I decided to do study in project management so that I
can better understand the management for doing better work.

However, the big question was what to do and where. I had done research about the
master’s degree in India related to project management field, but I didn't found
anything interesting so I made up my mind to study overseas because I am in need of
practical skills which I can get easily by studying abroad whereas it is hard to gain
robust skill set acquired from pragmatic techniques in my country.

I started searching online about projects studies and I came across a course which
could help me a lot and that course was Master of project management at University
of South Australia.

My purpose of application for student visa is to do Master of project management

course at University of South Australia. The reasons which made me decide about
studying are described as under: -
 Reasons for choosing your education provider;

Master of Project Management is provided by various universities like Latrobe

University, Central Queensland Universities Victoria University etc. But I have chosen to
study at UniSA as it is not only one of the reputed universities in Australia but also offers
a wide range of course in different field & makes graduates ready to take roles in this
modern world. In addition to that UniSA also offered me International Merit
Scholarship of 25%. UniSA has 32000 students from all over the world which
enhances learning experience and give immense opportunities to understand different
cultures. Project Management is endorsed by Australian Institute of Project Management.
UNISA is considered as one of the most innovative universities in Australia and it’s also a
founding member of Australian technical Network of Universities with other three
highly ranked universities. UNISA is ranked 25th in QS world Top 50 under 50 in 2019,
One of the youngest universities to receive five-star QS rating in research and ranked in
Top 300 in the world as ranked by QS and Times Higher Education surveys.
Altogether University of South Australia is innovation focused university with state-of-
the-art infrastructure and performance matching or above world education standard. It
provide compulsory internships as part of work integrated learning to enhance learning
experience. All its campuses are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including
modern lecture theatres, libraries, workshops, laboratories, and areas that simulate real
work environments. These are all supported by the latest technologies and a 24/7 online
learning platform. We have health services on campus, gymnasiums, technology zones
and great student lounges. There are campus sport activities to keep you active, and if you
are keen to explore the social side of university life, there are movies, cooking
demonstrations, parties and lots more.
.

Reasons for choosing to study in Australia rather than India;

I chose Australia because of global recognition of its universities and its highly reputed
higher education system, diversity of education and quality of ongoing scientific
research. Australia has 7 of the top 100 universities in the world. 6 of Australian cities are
among the 50 most liveable cities in the world thereby providing a safe and tolerant
environment for students. Australia has a history for innovation. There have been 16
Australian Nobel laureates which showcase the quality of research in Australian
Universities. I looked at other options across the world like State University of New York
in USA and University of Westminster in UK, but the course curriculum offered by
UNISA appealed to the most to me. Also, master’s degrees in USA or UK have a
requirement for GMAT score for entrance which I do not have at present. Australia has a
wide range of students from different countries and cultures, therefore, giving the
students a broad cultural prospective. Their strong focus on developing the knowledge
and skills that employers are looking can improve career progression significantly.
Australia is at the forefront of new technology and innovations. I am sure Australia is the
best option although it seems a bit expensive for now but quite reasonable when
considering the return in future as I can look forward for good paying jobs
Moreover, there is only one intake in India per year if that’s missed then students have to
wait for one full year whereas In Australia, there are multiple intakes. Similarly, Indian
method of assessment is mostly examination based while Australian education system
assesses students through assignments/seminars/essays etc.

Why Adelaide?

Adelaide is considered as Australia’s premier learning city. Moreover, the reason for
choosing Adelaide is that it is consistently voted as one of world’s most liveable cities. It
is recognized as the arts and culture capital of Australia and the extensive range of events
add to Adelaide’s liveable culture. Moreover, the living costs in Adelaide are cheaper than
Melbourne and Sydney so it is affordable for students. Also, Adelaide’s Mediterranean
climate is suitable for me as it’s neither very cold nor too hot. Adelaide’s public transport
system includes buses, trains and trams; each of which can get you to the far reaches of
the city. Student will find everything that need to know about Adelaide’s public transport
including timetables and route maps at the Adelaide Metro website and courtesy of the
Adelaide City Council.

projects This course will expand my professional knowledge and skills in projects. I
found this course best for my future professional life progression.
 What is the scope of this course and its benefits to you;

As India is a developing country rolling large number of projects every year, so there is
good career scope and offers great opportunities for engineers with master’s in project
management, as project managers, project engineers, project consultants are required in
almost every industry. With the education from Australian institution, I will learn how to
deal with complex issues associated with the project’s management. It will also help me
to plan technically advance, economical and sustainable projects.

Demand for graduates with professional degree in Project Management is increasing

faster than the general demand for most other fields, and salaries are comparatively high.
During this course, I will develop skills which will help me in getting very good job.
There are many reputed companies in India like, L&T Infrastructure Development
Projects Ltd., Reliance Infrastructure Ltd., and GMR Infrastructure Ltd. I am confident
that I will secure a management position after the completion of my master’s as they give
preference to candidates having international experience and international Degree. This
course will open doors of employment for me.

I want to work as project Manager. They work as a manager, a leader and an Engineer
with all field members, execution team and planning team.

Hopefully, with the support of my parents and by dint of my hard work in studies I would
become a successful person in the future and would also be able to help my nation
through my education.

Regards

(Vikram)
