Title: Experiencing God Is To Let Him Reign In Your Life

Text: Matthew 22:34-40(ERV)

34
The Pharisees learned that Jesus had made the Sadducees look so foolish that they stopped
35
trying to argue with him. So the Pharisees had a meeting. Then one of them, an expert in the

Law of Moses, asked Jesus a question to test him. 36 He said, “Teacher, which command in the law

is the most important?”

37
Jesus answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your

mind.’38 This is the first and most important command. 39 And the second command is like the first:

‘Love your neighbor the same as you love yourself.’40 All of the law and the writings of the prophets

take their meaning from these two commands.”

Dios sa thru His Word. Ang topic natin for today is about love, not just a human love that we

know, pero this is a divine kind of love na si Lord lang pwedeng makapagbigay. Let’s open our

Bible and turn to Matthew 22:34-40.

The following day, instead of attacking the Romans, which is ito yung expectation nila,

Jesus attacked them at the very heart of their nation, He attacked their false religious system, and
cleansed the temple, tinaboy Niya ang mga money changers, buyers and sellers. In short, ang

Sa Chapter 21 and first part ng Chapter 22,

They keep on chasing him, hinahanapan nila ng butas si Jesus by asking him para mahuli Siya at

masentence to death. Little did they know, the more they are attempting to trick Jesus to put Him

to death, the more na nagoglorify si Lord at narireveal ang laman ng puso nila. Self-righteousness,

pride and hatred. Minsan, pwedeng mas mapokus tayo sa religious works at nakakalimutan na

natin ang tamang relasyon natin sa Panginoon.

Let’s take a look at the text. Jesus quoted Moses directly from the Pentateuch (Deut.6:5).

Not only did He quote Moses, but He also quoted the most familiar passage Moses ever wrote,

The Shema (Deut. 6:4-9; 11:13-21; Num. 15:37-41) was the most familiar Scripture to all Jews

because they had to recite it twice a day. Jewish had mezuza by the front door with the Shema in

it.

What does it mean to let the Lord reign in your life?

To let him reign is to…

1. Love Him with all of your heart (v.37)

2. Love Him with all of your soul (v.37)

3. Love Him with all of your mind (v.37)

John 15:13 – we are to lay down our life for God. That’s what He did for us.

Romans 5:8 – we are to love God, hindi dahil may makukuha tayo or mapapala

tayo, pero dahil yun ang dapat.

James 2:19 says, “The demon also believe, and tremble.” Pero bakit hindi sila

redeemed? Although they believed in God, they do not love or obey Him. The

distinguishing mark of any believer is that he loves God with all his heart and therefore

obeys Him. God command believers to love Him as much as hey possibly can.

In Romans 7:18, Paul was saying he loved God with all his heart, even though he

didn’t always do the right thing. Even though he sometimes sinned, he nonetheless hated

his sin. Jesus unmasked the Pharisees and their hypocritical love for God. He called them

hypocrites seven separate times in Matthew 23. A hypocrite is someone who pretends to

have something but really has nothing. The Pharisees did not love God with all their heart,

soul, mind, and strength. They went through the religious motions, feeding their pride while

trying to appear righteous.

Even in Old testament, there was never a time or place in Old testament times where

God commanded external obedience apart from internal motivation. Obedience was always

commanded from those who had a willing heart. In new New testament, (John 14:15 ;Matt.

12:30).

You need a savior who can pay the penalty for your sin of not loving God. Since

we show we love God by obeying Him, we show we hate Him by disobeying Him.

(Romans 5:5) Christ not only can forgive man for a past lack of love, but also can infuse

man with the ability to love God in the present and future.

Unlike the Pharisees, they didn’t asked for forgiveness because they didn’t realize their

complete lack of love for God. When you realize you don’t really love God, Christ can come into

your life, forgive your sin, and grant you the ability to love God the way you should.

4. Love your neighbor as you love yourself (v.39)

We are all very concerned with our comfort and meeting our needs. But are we as

concerned with the comforts and needs of others? We need to care about others the same way

we care about ourselves. Christianity is not complicated. You simply love God and men with

your entire being.

Romans 13:8-10

8
You should owe nothing to anyone, except that you will always owe love to each other.

The person who loves others has done all that the law commands. 9 The law says, “You

must not commit adultery, you must not murder anyone, you must not steal, you must not

want what belongs to someone else.” All these commands and all other commands are

really only one rule: “Love your neighbor the same as you love yourself.” 10 Love doesn’t

hurt others. So loving is the same as obeying all the law.

The story of Saducees and Pharisees against Jesus, is warning for us. Kahit anong talino at

galing nila, kahit sabihin na kabisado nila ang Biblical Laws, they are no match for Jesus. Kapatid,

hindi mo pwedeng iexcuse ang sarili mo sa Dios for not forgiving others. Always pray at lagi mo

At the end of the day, being a Christian is a

relationship with the Lord. It is a commitment. Walang ayawan ito. Walang sukuan ito. Kasi alam

You need to love God with your entire being. If
you love the Lord with your entire being, kahit mahirap, at gaano kasakit ang magpatawad ng

kapwa, gagawin mo.
