materials, fabrication, inspection and testing of launching and receiving scraper traps to be
installed on the Bakharabad - Siddhirganj Pipeline Network.
The Fabrication Manufacturer shall be responsible for the supply of materials including
testing and inspection of all components to be fabricated in the workshop, as well as
drawings, specification etc. as mentioned in point 1.1.1 which shall be submitted to Employer
for approval by Contractor.
It is Contractor’s obligation and guarantee that the product he is supplying to the Project is
suitable and according to the specification of the relevant codes.

Arranging for the tests and official inspections including provision of the necessary aids and
documentation and the issuing of the required certificates for all shop fabricated
components.
Marking and packing separate spare parts for erection, commissioning and start-up.
Spare parts and special tools requirements as per standard practice.
1.2.1 The Launcher and Receivers design, fabrication and testing specified under this
specification shall comply with the standards listed under 1.2.2. Standard for 40 years
operation in this context shall also include any addenda, supplement, errata and cross-
reference mentioned therein or attached thereto. Further it may be suitable for bi-directional
use too.

1.3.4 Nameplates
Every launcher / receiver shall bear a stainless steel (SS 316) identification plate with cast or
stamped letters preferably 6 mm size but not less than 4 mm, given following information’s:
a. Fabrication Manufacturer's Corporate Name
b. Equipment Number
c. Fabrication Manufacturer's Serial Number
d. Year of Manufacture
e. Code of Manufacture
f. Capacity
g. Design Pressure
Internal : bar
h. Design Temperature
Maximum: °c
i. Hydrostatic Pressure: bar
j. Inspection Authority: (Name and Certification Stamp)
This nameplate shall be securely attached and so located that it is easily accessible after the
launcher / receivers installation.
In the event of any conflict between this specification and other applicable standards and
codes the Contractor shall contact the Employer for written clarification.
Any proposed deviation from this specification shall be submitted to the Employer for
approval.
1.5 Documents
Calculations.
Operating Manual.
Weld procedure specification and qualification records and welders qualification record.
Copies of all charts of thermocouple time / temperature / location readings for all heat
treatment (if heat treatment is required).
Each test or inspection performed shall be signed by the work expert. If quality plan
requires Contractor's Inspector to witness tests / inspections, he will also countersign
reports / certificates prepared.
1.6.1The Fabrication Manufacturer shall submit his workshop drawings with bills of material
and documents as listed in the form "Technical Documents" to the Contractor for approval
who in turn submits it to the Employer for approval.
The Sub Contractor / Manufacturer shall have Quality Assurance System in accordance with
ISO which shall be used for this project.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control Procedures shall be available at the time of the
proposal and shall include the Quality Objectives.
The Contractor shall participate in all shop inspection and tests and is responsible for
arranging such activities.
2.0. MATERIAL
The mechanical and chemical characteristics of the materials shall be in accordance with the
relevant ASTM and API sections.
The materials of constructions as a minimum shall be as follows:
Contractor / Sub Contractor / Vendor to calculate the wall thickness as per conditions
specified in data sheet and submit to Employer for approval.
All equipment and material shall be new, unused and suitable for the specified application.
Mechanical testing like impact etc. shall be as per relevant codes and standards.
3.0 DESIGN
The launcher / receiver, subject of this specification, are designated by their nominal
diameter expressed in inches.
The nominal diameter of the major barrel will be equal to the nominal diameter of the
pipeline plus 4 inches or two sizes higher than the pipeline size for launcher / receiver, so
that a pig can easily be inserted or withdrawn for intelligent pigging. The launcher / receiver
shall be suitable for bi-directional operation.
Supports
The launcher / receivers shall each be provided with three numbers of supports one is fixed
and other two being sliding. The sliding supports shall be incorporated with bonded PTFE
low friction runners which shall rest on sliding plates embedded in the concrete supports.
PTFE runners shall be protected from dust / sand ingress by dry felt seal, as appropriate.
The supports shall be designed as per Civil design basis and drawings attached elsewhere
in the bid considering the loading based on stress analysis performed by the Contractor.

a dimensional check
5.0 TESTS
Hydrostatic Test
The Contractor / fabricator / manufacturer shall have at this disposal all the necessary
equipment, machines and apparatus to undertake hydrostatic tests in his own workshops.
Pressure and temperature shall be recorded throughout the test. Recorder strips shall clearly
indicate in respect of each test:
the date
the duration
The test shall be witnessed and Contractor / Sub Contractor shall affix his stamp / certify the
equipment which will be successfully tested.
The body of the scraper traps shall pass the water test successfully at 1½ times the design
pressure.
