INVERTIBRATES
Sponge
are animals of the phylum Porifera. They are multicellular organisms that have bodies full of pores
and channels allowing water to circulate through them, consisting of jelly-like mesohyl sandwiched between
two thin layers of cells.
Cnidaria
is a phylum containing over 10,000 species of animals found exclusively in aquatic and mostly marine
environments. Their distinguishing feature is cnidocytes, specialized cells that they use mainly for capturing
prey.
Flatworm
are a phylum of relatively simple bilaterian, unsegmented, soft-bodily.
Nematodes
The nematodes or roundworms constitute the phylum Nematoda. They are a diverse animal phylum
inhabiting a very broad range of environments.
Annelid
The annelids, also known as the ringed worms or segmented worms, are a large phylum, with over
17,000 extant species including ragworms, earthworms, and leeches.
Mollusks
The molluscs or mollusks /ˈmɒləsks/ compose the large phylum of invertebrate animals known as the
Mollusca. Around 85,000 extant species of molluscs are recognized.
Arthropod
is an invertebrate animal having an exoskeleton, a segmented body, and jointed appendages. Arthropods form the
phylum Arthropoda, and include the insects, arachnids, myriapods, and crusteans.
VERTIBRATES
Amphibian
are ectothermic, tetrapod vertebrates of the class Amphibia. Modern amphibians are all
Lissamphibia.
Fish
is any member of a paraphyletic group of organisms that consist of all gill-bearing aquatic craniate
animals that lack limbs with digits.
Reptile
are a group of tetrapod animals comprising today's turtles, crocodilians, snakes, lizards, tuatara, and
their extinct relatives.
Bird
are a group of endothermic vertebrates, characterised by feathers, a beak with no teeth, the laying
of hard-shelled eggs, a high metabolic rate, a four-chambered heart, and a lightweight but strong skeleton.
Mammal
are any members of a clade of endothermic amniotes distinguished from reptiles and birds by the
possession of hair, three middle ear bones, mammary glands, and a neocortex.
