What Is Abacus? and What Is The Use of Abacus?: Will My Child Get Confused Between Abacus Maths and School Maths?

Abacus is an ancient calculating tool that uses beads on rods to perform mathematical calculations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Using an abacus, one can also calculate decimals, square roots, and cube roots. Learning abacus does not interfere with standard school math methods and is considered an effective way to learn mental math techniques. Abacus relies on bead manipulation rather than arithmetic processes, so it is viewed as a fun supplemental activity like a sport for children to learn mental arithmetic.

What is Abacus? And what is the use of Abacus?

Abacus is the first calculating machine invented by man. It is an

ancient tool used for doing mathematical calculations in quicker
way, it uses rows of beads to do calculations. This tool is used
for doing arithmetic calculations (Additions, Multiplications,
Subtraction’s & Divisions).

What kinds of calculation can we do with an

abacus?

Using abacus, you can solve both simple and complex math
problems.Besides addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division, we can also calculate
decimals, square root and cube root on the abacus.

Will my child get confused between abacus maths and school maths?

No, it does not interfere with the school methods of teaching math. Abacus
is considered to be an effective tool for learning mental maths techniques
to solve simple to complex arithmetic calculations. Abacus calculation
relies upon the manipulation of beads rather than the arithmetic processes.
Therefore, it can be considered as just another method to solve math
problems, and for kids it’s considered as a side activity like some kind
of sports, so teaching and learning mental arithmetic is sopoused to be
fun and completly the opposite of boring.

How many hours children need to attend the classes in a month?

Normally, the classes will be conducted once in a week (duration – 2 hour)

Whether parents need to monitor the child?

Yes. Parent need to check the home work completed by child. If the child
is very young / slow learner, parent should support the child in learning
the methods taught in the class. If the child is grown up and does the
home work on his own, monitoring can be minimised.

What is the point of learning how to calculate using an

abacus since today's world has computers and advanced
technology?

Apart from learning maths through ABACUS it has

following advantages as well.
-Improving math skills and improving children’s interest
in learning math.

-Improves the following mental abilities: concentration,

observation, memory, analytical ability, visualization,
imagination, attention and focus.

Cultivates patience, self-confidence and self-discipline.

Promotes the skills of listening, multi-tasking and

problem solving.

Enhances the coordination between eyes, ears and

hands.

Stimulates the development of both the left and right

side of the brain.

Skills : Abacus Training helps in developing the Concentration, Listening

Skills, Logicalthinking, Photographic Memory, Visualization, Speed &
Accuracy. Abacus helps in boosting child’s con×dence, in carrying out
their maths calculations and develops mental calculation abilities.
Abacus also helps in enhancing the problem solving abilities of the child

What is the recommended age to start learning Abacus Training program?

The ideal age for taking Abacus Training Program is 4 to 15 years as the
growth of nerves and tissues is rapid during this age. However, if the
child is young, abacus teacher needs the co-operation of the parents to
get the maximum result possible.
