Course Description
This course is designed to help third-year students at HCM UTE, who are diagnosed to be at low intermediate
level, with further practice of Toeic tests. It is based on the principles of Communicative and Learner-centered
approaches and aimed to provide Toeic test training and practice for listening and reading skills which help
build the students’ confidence and improve their performance in sitting for the test. Moreover, a variety of
classroom activities carried out in groups and pairs will encourage their self and cooperative learning strategies
and basic competences, which are very necessary for their later success in working and living environment.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course students are expected to be able to
Improve their listening skills through in-class instructions and self practice at home.
Extend active vocabulary of daily life as well as business activities.
Communicate in simple situations, and talk about living and working conditions, educational
background, holidays, etc.
Find general ideas as well as specific, predictable information in short articles, advertisements, emails,
faxes, menus and timetables, etc.
Use tips on pronunciation, intonation, sentence stress and other aspects of spoken language.
Master test-sitting skills for the Toeic exam.
