also the fifth largest Horn producing Company within the world. Headquartered in
Coimbatore - India, Roots has been a dominant player within the manufacture of Horns and
alternative merchandise like Castings and Industrial improvement Machines. Since its
institution in 1970, Roots encompasses a vision and commitment to provide and deliver
quality merchandise adhering to International Standards.
With an intense creative base and sense of duty regarding Quality, Roots Industries
India limited has possessed a key position in every global and household advertise as
providers to driving OEMs and reseller's exchange. Like stock, Roots has vanguard over
contenders on solid quality framework base. Presently, RIL is that the underlying Indian
Company and introductory horn delivering organization inside the world to initiate ISO/TS

FUNCTIONAL DEPARTMENTS
3.1.1. Introduction:
The “Horns” are produced for two wheelers and four wheelers, decibel ranges
from 105 to 118 as per the government norms. The horns produced are basically
differentiated into “High Tone” and “Low tone” varies into voltages like 6V, 12V, 24V,
26V, etc. Three shifts are running here, to meet the demand prevailing in a market.
The maximum parts of horns are produced in Press shop itself and remaining
parts are purchased from outsiders. Employees are provided with safety equipment’s like
Shoes, goggles, gloves, etc.

Mostly raw materials are Powder coated, if customer specifies plating means
raw material given to outsiders as Job work. The powder coating is done to protect
from rust and to extend its life time.

The assembly unit is the last stage where Horns parts (nearly 40 Items) are
assembled to form Low tone and high tone Horns.

Once packing gets over goods are ready for dispatch to various customers in
domestic as well as export to foreign countries.
3.2 MARKETING
3.2.1. Introduction:
Marketing is the process which creates customer interest to buy a product. Here
marketing department plays a major role than other departments, because this department
mainly focus on contracts with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and replacement
market, to meet the customer demand. Generally the Roots are known for “QUALITY”.
Advertisement also done in Magazines like Motor India, Auto care Professional, etc. Van
campaigns are done to create knowledge about their products. Company is participating in
“AUTO EXPO” conduced in Delhi every 2 years (Next in the year 2019). Marketing
Research is done on daily basis to give great upgraded products for their customers. As
results of this Electronic Horns and backup alarms production are started.
3.2.2 Sales:
The Products sold to OEM are on contract basis. The main customer is
Ford, Toyota, Nissan, etc.

3.2.3 Trading:
Trading also done by purchasing products from various manufacturers and sold to
the customer on their Brand name. To maintain the company’s brand name, quality checks
are done in regular basis on these products.
Company is well established and trusted, in India and overseas. There is no need for
the company to advertise about attractive prices to make people to come and buy their
products, it is not necessary because it is already known for its quality it creates more
customers, irrespective of its price.

In order to take performance to the next level job trainings are given, that make
them to learn new techniques in a particular job. Performance appraisal is done in order to
know employees level of performance/ Interest in their job. It also helps HR department to
arrange new training programs to improve employees those who lack in level of work
performed. Generally Performance Appraisal is done to all levels of employees (Executives,
Staff, Workers, Trainees and Apprentices).

3.4.1. INTRODUCTION
This department plays an important role to integrate various units with the help
of computers to make the work simple and help to complete it quickly. This department ensures
to adapt latest technology that is coming in the field of information technology.

This department makes other department to function by allocating funds.
3.5.2 FUNCTIONS:
The various financial activities carried on by finance manager are:

To prepare payment details for repayment of interest dues for the loans borrowed
from different banks.
➢
To provide required details to the concurrent auditor appointed by the bankers. When
the company goes in for restructuring of loans, the finance manager has to prepare the
statement showing unpaid interest dues and the principal amount.

It is the role of the finance manager to prepare product wise sales forecast for every
month.

The finance manager has the duty to prepare to types of statement every month,

Responsible for planning, organizing, evaluating & controlling the operations of

4. CONCLUSION
This “Industrial Immersion Program” 6 days Internship helped me gain knowledge and
understand about the functional activities of organization (i.e.) to know about the functions of
each department, Roles and responsibilities of Managers and the line heads of each department. I
also learned business motive is not only to make profit but also to do CSR activity,that is to do
something good for our society.
