February 2019.

All applicants will be contacted by Monday 4th March 2019. Please note, due to the
volume of applications only successful candidates will be notified. If you are successful,
you will be notified of your selection Monday 4th March. We are unable to acknowledge
applications upon receipt.

1. PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY

Applicants are subject to eligibility criteria; please tick the following statements as they apply to
you. You must be able to check all of the following boxes to be eligible to participate in the
Commonwealth Youth Dialogue Summit.

 I will be aged between 18 and 22 at the start of the event


 I am a Commonwealth citizen and currently reside in one of the named countries.
 I am committed to upholding the Commonwealth values of good governance
 I am committed to working towards equality for all, regardless of gender, religious or ethnic
identity, or sexual orientation.
 I am able to speak fluently in English – the working language of the training course
 I confirm that I am medically fit, both physically and mentally, to travel and participate in the
training course
 I am able to evidence voluntary or professional experience on peace building and youth
participation issues
 I am willing to share case studies and highlight relevant aspects of my work
 I am willing to be an active participant and commit to spreading the values and outcomes of the
course in my home country via follow up social action and advocacy work
 I commit to ensuring I obtain all necessary vaccinations and medications before attending the
course, at my expense

APPLICANT QUESTIONNAIRE
1. Explain your motivation for participating in this training (in under 300 words)
I am motivated to participate in this training primarily because of following of my interest and
understanding of the point that youth is the building block of a peaceful world and preoperative
community. I am motivated to discuss and learn more about how today’s young generation and
future generations can be put on the path which leads to ultimate good of all. Visiting Malaysia
and sharing ideas with international community of youth as well as experts will broaden my
vision and I hope I get to adapt more and learn more.

2. Please briefly describe any background or experience in one or more fields listed:
dialogue, active citizenship, youth empowerment, and/or peace education (in under 300
words).
*Previous experience and background are not a requirement for participation
I have been a regular part of Model United Nations in my University and have been awarded with
the title of best delegate every time I have participated. I am an active member of debating
society in my university. I also work voluntarily for the local hospitals, helping organize blood
donation and free surgical camps. I have been organizing blood donation camps for thalassemia
patients at least once a year since 2014. I work as a permanent member of a local NGO named
SEHER Welfare Foundation which actively works for the rights of poor and developing a peaceful
community since 2017.
3. Please tell us how you will use this experience and learning to help make change happen
in your community in the future through dialogue (in under 300 words).
This platform of Commonwealth Youth Dialogue Conference seems to be very efficient as it
provides the connections with the international community of individuals from different cultural
backgrounds and having different believes, this is a golden opportunity for me to learn to adapt
different cultures and ideas. I aim to use this platform to create a network of young active social
members spread across the various cities of several countries with same goal of developing a
healthy and prosperous society. I wish to develop intercultural and interfaith harmony. I will use
the trainings and learnings to spread the message of peace through dialogue across my local
community.
4. How do you intend to share the knowledge that you’ll gain from this training? (in under
300 words)
I intend to organize seminars and debating events with similar structure as that of Youth
Dialogue Conference and involve kids of schools and college and will try to aware the youth
about the importance of their role for peace building and will prepare youth to be open minded
to dialogue and discussion of different ideas.
