The student learned many concepts in earth and life science during their first semester. They discovered that evolution is the central theory that ties biology together and explains unity and diversity in life. They also learned about the formation of the Earth 4.5 billion years ago, and how the Earth has changed over time but conserved the same total energy. Seeing a documentary helped them apply these scientific concepts in understanding the natural world.

MY REFLECTION
During our first semester, I learned a lot that related to biology. I
learned that evolution is the theory that holds biology together. It explains why there is unity and diversity in life. It explains how and why different biological systems came to be. And even in modern applications, it is incorporated in many applications, such as in animal breeding, or in creating vaccines. According to our science teacher, google and other source the earth formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago. I learned about the Law of conservation of energy which is states that energy is neither loss nor gained, only conserved. Or teacher expanded on that concept because the earth has changed over its life time, but it still has the same amount of energy. For example, the earth used to be a ball of magma--thermal energy; over time the magma cooled, and the crust formed as a result. The energy from the previous phase was converted into the system, thus cooling down the earth much like an endothermic reaction. Chemistry also comes into play here because in an endothermic reaction, energy is put into the system from the environment, thus lowering the temperature. Since heat is energy, the earth simply converted it into another form to set the stage for organisms to inhabit the eventually inhabit the earth. Seeing the documentary with my background knowledge in science allowed me to apply the concepts that I learned. I learned several thing that also related about the different types of volcano, stress and etc.. Even dedicating one quarter to learning about evolution was not enough. Even after first quarter, evolution is still discussed in Life Science. Through the various activities we did, I learned more and more about evolution, like how different organisms are specially adapted to different environments, evolutionary explanations to the features present in different organisms, and the frequency of different genes in the Pisay population. In fact, I learned that in my first year clique, all of us except for one had attached ears. Not only did I learn things about evolution, but I also learned more about the process of learning. One should learn how to appreciate what he is learning. One should also learn how to be patient when trying to understand things. One should also try to learn by themselves if he wants to know more, because knowledge is not served on a silver platter.

11-REUBEN GUAGUA NATIONAL COLLEGES EARTH AND LIFE SCIENCE MS.ELAISA DELA TORRE REFLECTION I learned a lot about earth and life science but for me the best topic is all about atmosphere .The atmosphere is practically everything above the Earth surface. It starts at ground level and then just goes on upward, getting thinner and colder until it finally dissolves into space. The atmosphere makes our world livable. It is responsible for winds, weather, temperature and a lot more features that make the Earth different than other planets. Without it, the Earth would be more like the moon. From a general point of view, the atmospheres composition seems simple. It contains oxygen produced...
Earth Science Vocab Unit 4 Celestial Objects-A natural object which is
located outside of Earth's atmosphere, such as the Moon, the Sun, an asteroid, planet, or a star. Arc- a continuous portion of a circle Constellation-A group of stars forming a recognizable pattern that is traditionally named after its apparent form or identified with a mythological figure
Earth Science is an all-embracing term for the sciences related to the
planet Earth. It is arguably a special case in planetary science, the Earth being the only known life-bearing planet. There are both reductionist and holistic approaches to Earth sciences. The formal discipline of Earth sciences may include the study of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, oceans and biosphere, as well as the solid earth. Typically, Earth scientists will use tools from physics, chemistry, biology, chronology and mathematics to build a quantitative understanding of how the Earth system works, and how it evolved to its current state. Environmental science is a multidisciplinary academic field that integrates physical and biological sciences, to the study of the environment, and the solution of environmental problems. Environmental science provides an integrated, quantitative, and interdisciplinary approach to the study of environmental systems.
Lastly, I gained a new perspective in life. During my elementary years, I
studied in a Catholic school. Even though they taught evolution alongside creationism, evolution was taught in a way that made it look like a side topic of biology. When evolution was taught in 2nd year biology, I first taught it was gonna be a fast topic because that was my experience in the elementary years. But soon I learned how evolution is one of the most important theories in biology. In Life Science, evolution became even more interesting because of all the activities we did. Learning more about evolution did not change my belief in God, but it did give me a new perspective in life.
