To All the Boys I Loved Before

The movie “To All the Boys I loved Before” that Susan Johnson directed is based
from the bestselling novel of Jenny Han. Lara Jean Covey a grade 11 student write a
letter if she feels like her feelings toward someone is so intense but doesn’t have plan on
sending them. She likes reading “The Forbidden Kiss” to imagine herself in a world of
passion she’s not ready to try on. Yet she is contented watching “Golden Girls” marathon
with her 11-year old sister on a Saturday night. Her world turned upside down when the
letters were sent without her knowing. Then came Peter Kavinsky her middle-school first
kiss who received one of the letters dared to have a contract with her to be his fake-
boyfriend so his ex Gen would be jealous and Lara Jean’s best friend whom she secretly
love wouldn’t think that she’s still into him because it’s her sister’s boyfriend.

I was puzzled at first that the five letters that LJ wrote was sent unconsciously but
the excitement I felt was beyond my knowing is the reason why I enjoyed watching the
film without getting any boring moments. The flow of the story is very clear and no
confusions. They clearly explain the backstory of each situation and when or why did LJ
write a letter to the boys he liked. And I can completely relate because it tells how fun it
is for a high school student to have a feelings for someone so intense and doesn’t know
what to do about it. The topic is very appropriate for today’s genre whom millennials can
relate.

Also, Lana Condor as Lara Jean and Noah Centineo as Peter Kavinsky and the
other actors have the perfect roles for them. They convey their great acting skills for their
roles which makes the movie even better, they nailed the facials expressions and small
gestures. Small actions but still add to the whole mood of the film. I was really stunned
by the venue of the film and its cinematography; the shots were really good that it
contributed to overall mood of the movie specially the ski-trip. However, I was not
satisfied with the musical source because it is too few for me and the one they used is
very common, personally I want underrated music for romantic movies. But that doesn’t
make the whole movie irrelevant the special effects and the editing is aesthetically
pleasing to me it reminds everyone how beautiful high school love is.

To sum it up all this movie is highly recommended, very entertaining and also
logical. You will learn how to value things and how important risking is because life is
all about taking risk and chances. This is very appropriate for people who loves watching
romance movies with a twist. The whole film is very pleasing and satisfying to watch for
it meets my expectations.
