Objectives
1. Identify the cause of decreasing English proficiency among BSED English major
2. Give the factors that cause the decreasing English proficiency of English major
students.
3. Recommend ways to overcome the factors that cause the decreasing English
proficiency.
This study will be conducted to identify the causes of decreasing English proficiency
among BSED English major students of Bicol College. The results of which will be the
the students. Specifically, the study will answer the following questions:
a. Age;
b. Sex; and
c. Year level;

The main focus of this study is to identify the causes of decreasing English proficiency
among English major students enrolled in Bicol College Daraga, Albay for the school
year 2018-2019. The study is delimited to the students taking up Bachelor of Secondary
Education major in English from the College of Teacher Education of Bicol College,
English Language plays an important role in our life. It is understood by many people
around the world, since it is the most spoken language. English is used worldwide in a variety of
fields and is used as a medium for global communication (Jeraltin Vency, & Ramganesh, 2013).
