Current Social Media Trend in Pakistan:

So just how is social media impacting our lives here in Pakistan? Let’s take a look at some of
the major trends for social media in the country.

1. Whatsapp , whatsapp , whatsapp Pakistan.

Pakistanis of all ages, be it teenagers or adults have taken to Whatsapp like a moth to a flame.
To say that it has changed the way we communicate and exchange information would be an
understatement. The advent of 3G and 4G wireless mobile technology and with it the
exponential increase in the number of Smartphone users in Pakistan has made Whatsapp the
communication app of choice among the masses. The fact that the mobile application’s services
are free of charge has added to its popularity.

2. To tweet or not to tweet that is the question

These days it seems more happens on twitter in a day than what happens in the entire country
in a day. Be it celebrities, politicians, sportspersons or even everyday folk, everyone has a thing
or two to tweet. In this way Twitter often becomes the first source of information for the public
as well as for the electronic media. Gone are the days when public figures used to hold a press
conference to announce something important. In today’s world of instant everything social
media is the new P.A system. So now we get to know when Kim Kardashian is expecting before
probably even her mom does thanks to Twitter!

3. Lights, camera, Facebook Live!

Yeah I know it should read action after camera but what if all the action was now on Facebook
Live itself? From amateur vloggers to celebrities to simply business owners wanting to connect
with their customers, Facebook Live is the place to be seen and heard. The appeal of instant
real time live streaming cannot be emphasized enough and that is what is making people turn
to Facebook Live in large numbers. So if you have a funny cat video out there that you can’t
wait to share with your friends try giving Facebook Live a go and I’m sure you’ll get a meow
or two in return!

4. Honey I shrunk the market

The emergence of social media has not only changed how people interact with one another but
also how businesses interact with their customers. Nowadays social media platforms are being
used to connect with clientele as part of a company’s digital marketing effort. In Pakistan nearly
all companies now have a social media presence and are marketing their products and services
like never before. The most popular platforms include Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
through which businesses engage with customers, address their complaints and act promptly
on the feedback provided by them. With Smartphones now so common, the market has literally
shrunk to the palm of one’s hand.

5. The good the bad and the ugly is all public now
The age of demure is long gone. Welcome to a world where anything and everything it seems,
has to be shared with the world and it’s not always pleasant. From public marital spats to
politicians taking mudslinging to a whole new level, it’s all out there for the public to consume.
Forget Humsafar or Zindagi gulzar hai, in Pakistan the real drama is played out every day on
social media. There is good out there too folks and the recent statements by fashion icon Frieha
Altaf and actress Nadia Jamil of them being abused as children were put out via Twitter. We
salute their bravery in coming out like this and their effort to highlight the grave issue of child
abuse.

Taimoor Salahuddin aka Mooroo:

Mooroo was born in Lahore, Pakistan. He has studied filmmaking in the United States. He
released his first ever song “Patakhi Larki” alongside Anni Jaffri in 2011. After that, he released
song “Awam” with rapper Faris Shafi in 2012. This song gained instant popularity among the
people. He also got nominated at 2013 & 2014 Lux Style Awards for ‘Best Music Video
Director’. He also won the Fifth Youth Festival award for ‘Voice of the Year’. His skits on
YouTube are no doubt so funny. He has gained popularity and recognition in such a short career

Irfan Junejo:

Irfan Junejo is one of the top vloggers of Pakistan. He has established himself as a content
creator. His vlogs are so simple and nice. The simplicity and his ability to share his content in
such a brief manner have raised his fan following. He has started his career as an ordinary
vlogger, with a camera and recording of a 3-minute video in his room.

Umar Khan aka UKhano:

UKhano is one of the most popular Vloggers in Pakistan. He has a strong portfolio in graphic
design due to photoshop skills. His amazing traveling Vlogs made him popular in a very short
span. He has also gained the attention of the public just because of his unique video
editing skills.

Bilal Khan:

The guy who shines with so much talent. He is an actor, sing/songwriter, and vlogger. His vlogs
show the average people behind the scenes of celebrity lives. In his Vlogs, we get to see almost
one new celebrity.

Zaid Ali:
Zaid Ali makes parodies and comedy videos. He gained popularity from his
hilarious YouTube and Facebook videos. Zaid never fails to make us laugh or have us almost
peeing our pants. His videos are so family-friendly and amazing. He no doubt knows how to
keep his audience entertained.
Lord Aleem:
Our favorite British Pakistani YouTuber and the leading man of our hearts (well the girls of
course). His perfect accent paired up perfect looks can make any girl’s heart melt. Boys his
channel offers something for you as well. The extensive list of luxury cars he owns and his
rental car service is right up your alley. His videos primarily feature his nice-ass cars or his
adventures in Pakistan, and man we thought his British accent was perfect, just imagine him
speaking

Queen Froggy:
From being Sham Idress’s best friend to starting her own kick-ass channel, she has made heads
turn and left mouths wide open. Her honesty and hilarious pranks put her on this list. Now he
is entering in vlogging profession.

Waqas Shah:
He may not be as popular as the others on this list, but his videos might be the most
important. Often Pakistanis, specifically Muslim Pakistanis are viewed a certain way by the
public. YouTube is a huge platform to bring light to worldly issues, that are often not
addressed. It is disheartening to watch the news and see what goes on, but to watch someone
in real life test out these inhumane actions is just something else. Waqas is an upcoming
YouTuber located in New York, USA. His videos mainly consist of addressing racism against
Muslims that take place everyday. Watch at least one video to see how our people are treated
in different parts of the world.

about it – there are entire stores dedicated to newborns and children. There are hundreds and

This one for me is the holy grail of successful blogs because not only can you make money but

The problem though is that it is HARD. While the other niches rely on great written content,
