VSTEP 2 SPEAKING TEST
Time allowance: 10 minutes
Part 1: Greetings (30 seconds) 1. Good morning / afternoon. / Hi / Hello. Please sit down. My name is …. 2. What’s your name? 3. How are you today?
Part 2: Social Interaction (90 seconds)
(The examiner can decide how to develop the conversation based on the candidate’s responses.) Now let’s talk about food. 1. What’s your favourite kind of food? 2. How many meals do you eat a day? 3. Where do you often have breakfast? 4. Who cooks your dinner at home? Ok, I see.
Part 3: Description (4 minutes, 1 minute for preparation)
Let’s move on to the third part. I’m going to give you a card with a situation. You have one minute to study the situation. Please describe your favourite room in your house. 1. Where is it? 2. What do you usually do there? 3. Why do you like it? Follow-up question: Do you want to change anything in your room?
Part 4: Discussion (4 minutes, 1 minute for preparation)
Now we come to the last part. I’m going to give you a card with a topic. You have one minute to prepare. After one minute you are supposed to talk about the topic for up to two minutes. Eating home is better than going to a restaurant. Do you agree or disagree? Why? Follow-up questions: 1. My best friend wants to eat in a Chinese restaurant, but I don’t. What should I do? 2. Is fast food good for your health? Why?
