of thread engagement group N as specified in DIN 13- 14. Allention Is drawn lo the fact that stud bolts wllh

For Slud bolts wu11 thread of size greater than M39, the s;>eclftcatlons of this standard apply only wllh regard to
dimensions and tolerances, the other properttes being subject to agreement between purchaser and manulaclurer
Stud bolls may be supplied either wflh ends cut sQuare (1ype A) or with chamfeted ends (type B). as specified In

5 Marking
One end of steel stud bolts of SIZe M5 \ll greater shall be marked with the symbol tor the property class and of
stainless steel stud bolts of size M5 or greater, with the symbol denoting the matenal grade (A2 or A4 ), omitting the
symbol for property class 50.
Marking of nonferrous metal stud bolts IS not required

The tollow1n9 amendments have been made to the September 1986 edtuon of DIN 976.
a) ihe range of commercial s1zes for stud bolts of thread size smaller than M45 has been amended
b) For type A stud bolts, the range of nominal lengths, J, has been extended to 1nclude 1000 mm, 2 000 mm and
3000mm.
c) 'For ste1nless steel stud bolls. property class 50 and lor stael stud bolts. property classes 4.8, 8.8 and 10.9 have
been specified.
d) The m~rking ol steel afld stainless steel stud bolts has been made mandatory
e) The standard has been editorially revised
