PROCEDURE

Note: This kit is compatible only with 2ZZ engine cars with aftermarket Moroso sumps

CATCH CAN INSTALL

1. Get the car on level ground and jack the rear up from correct jacking points (A, shown
below). Look for the sticker which locates this point. Do not jack the car up from the
fibreglass side sill. Use a piece of rubber or timber on the jack to protect the aluminium tub
from surface damage. Then support the car with stands underneath the spring perch on the
lower wishbones, as shown:

2. Remove the undertray. There is some variation in the quantity and size of the fasteners
depending on the specific model.
3. The oil needs to be drained from the sump. This is easier with an engine that has been
running recently and is still warm. Drain from the bottom-most port.
4. Remove the plug from the catch can drain port using a 3/8” allen key. Ensure the tapered
female threads are clean and free of debris before installing the hose end adaptor fitting.
Use thread tape or liquid thread sealant. Tighten the fitting using a 7/8” spanner.

5. Loosely fit the braided hose to the installed fitting, and feed it to the top of the engine bay,
following the curve of the shift cables.

6. Remove both crankcase breather hoses running between the bottom corner of the valve
cover and the intake either side of the throttle body. Use the rubber bungs provided to cap
off the ports either side of the throttle body. Use a 19mm spanner to remove the PCV valve.
This is now replaced with the straight through brass barbed fitting. Use thread tape or liquid
thread sealant on this fitting as well.

7. Attach the two anti vibration mounts to the sheet steel bracket.
8. Mount the bracket to the car picking up on the two gearbox bolts holding the cable
abutment bracket to the bell housing.

9. Slip one end of each of the rubber hose provided in the kit over the ports on the aluminium
catch can. It may be necessary to use some silicone spray or other lubricant as they are a
tight fit. Slip the hose clamps over the ports but leave them loose as some twisting of the
hose may be needed to fit the hoses to the valve cover side.
10. Attach the oil drain hose end to the male AN fitting at the base of the catch can. These last
two steps should be done prior to mounting the catch can to the bracket for easier access.
Tighten using a 11/16 or -6AN spanner.
11. Mount the catch can to the other end of the anti vibration mounts and tighten the lock nuts
(10mm).
12. The two hoses running between the catch can and the valve cover will need to be trimmed.
Once the catch can is in position, bolted to the mounting bracket and with the oil drain line
connected, mark out how much length needs to be cut. Offer the hoses up to the two ports
and ensure that there will be enough length to run to the base of either fitting, but not so
much that the hoses want to naturally kink. Cut using hose cutters or a sharp blade.

13. Once the hoses are fitted install and tighten the hose clamps, and install the breather filter
on top of the catch can and tighten its hose clamp. Then double check the routing of the oil
drain line to ensure there are no kinks or chafing spots. Secure it in position using some
cable ties and the hooks which hold the shift cables in position next to the subframe.
14. Refill the engine oil and check for any leaks around the drain back fitting in the sump. Refit
the undertray, then let the car down and the install is complete.
