Balanced cantilever end span changed from 55m to 61.5m in the
R2 latest revision from earlier version.

Cl. 1.3.2 OF DBR mentions minimum vertical clearance of 12m


above HWL, which is not in line with Clause no. 2.25 of Schedule
D. As per Schedule D, cl. No. 2.25, Minimum vertical clearance of
12m above HTL (where HTL is 3.3m above MSL) shall be
maintained for navigational spans.
Details & cross sections of connectors shall be provided.
Application of Time history analysis, nonlinear analysis for overall
project shall be mentioned in detail in DBR.
Construction sequence & construction methodology for main
viaduct, balanced cantilever portion & cable stayed portion shall
be elaborated briefly.

AESTHETIC STRATEGY
6 REPORT

All the images in the report, lack any form of context (aesthetic
R0 connection) with respect to Mumbai. This project as it is
depicted right now, can be anywhere around the world.

3D eye level view of the project from important urban nodes viz.
Bandstand, Juhu Beach, Versova Beach are important and shall
be added to make the project agreeable with all stakeholders.

Inconsistency in substructure system disturbs the continuity,


rhythm & flow of the structure & looks unpleasant. Also there is
variation in same system of substructure viz. different tie beams
in pile bent system.
Transition of varying deck widths should be smooth with
appropriate relation between neighbouring spans

There is no thought or a concept elaborated for the aesthetic


strategy, please elaborate how this structure is perfect fit with
respect to family of structures in surroundings & a sensitive fit
with the built, natural and community environment; good
connections for communities; and an attractive and fit for
purpose public domain. Please elaborate in detail the aesthetic
strategy with respect to site location, nearby structures,
connecting roads.

8 Test Pile Methodology


Design & Drawings are not reviewed/Stamped by Proof
R0 Consultant & Safety Consultant.
Test pile diameter is inconsistent throughout the document
(1200mm & 1000mm dia. observed).
Please revise & resubmit the design as per IS 800:2007 (Limit
State Method)

Drawing & drafting quality is not up to the mark. following


drafting errors are observed:
i. Drawing not in scale & disproportionate.
ii. Line weight is not consistent throughout the drawing.
iii. Font sizes throughout the drawing varies invariably.
iv. Text & arrows are overlapping & poorly represented

Levels shown in the drawing are incorrect & shall be verified.


Levels below EGL are in increasing order (with +ve sign), shall be
corrected.

Diameter of test pile is not mentioned anywhere in the drawing.

Web plate height of 2100mm mentioned in the elevation of


primary girder is incorrect & shall be corrected.
Anchor pile length & levels mentioned in the notes does not
match with the drawing & shall be corrected.

Girder design is done as per WSM, which is not acceptable, it has


to be done in line with latest code which follows LSM. This same
comment was earlier made on submission through transmittal
R1 no. MSRDC/ENGG/VBSL/2019/0051 & still it seems it has not
been complied in new submission. This will not be entertained
further.
Girder sections presented in annexure 1 are incorrect. Primary,
secondary & tertiary girder sections are interchanged & shall be
corrected.
Anchor pile length shall be redesigned with respect to site
condition strata and requirement.
Dimensions mentioned for all the girders are totally incorrect.
Load Test procedure isn't correct & shall be as per latest codal
R1 provision.

9 Span Arrangement

The General arrangement drawings provided are incomplete.

gives rise to decrease in the length of Leg 3 by 230 m. Technical
Justification in need of change to be specified from your end.

Simply supported spans with connecting slab considered in the


elevation drawings, which differs from continuous span of 300 m
length as per agreement.

Expansion joint spacing exceeds 200 m in all locations as per


drawing. Spacing of expansion joints should be 200 m for
connectors as per agreement clause 3.7 of volume 3, schedule D.
CABLE STAYED BRIDGE The General arrangement drawings provided are incomplete.
GENERAL Provide all the details such as, from-to directions, North

vertical clearance found less than 9.1 m with respect to MSL. It
should be checked to get required vertical clearance.

As per drawing, Toll Plaza starts from Ch. 1+645.07m.& ends at


2+236.16m.As per agreement drawing it starts from Ch.:
1+570.0m and ends at Ch.: 2+320.0.This results decrease in the
length of toll plaza approach by 159m. Technical justification
needed.

At abutment A1 location and N101&N102 pier locations only


three lane box structure to be adopted With 2.5 m separation.
Another 3-lane box considered on both sides in the plan
drawing, total width of abutment specified is 53.5m, which
contradicts agreement ROW of 45 m. It should be corrected.

As per drawing, Toll Plaza starts from Ch. 839.72m.& ends at

BRIDGE GA PALN & R0 your earlier proposal of 55 m. Technical Justification in need of
ELEVATION DRAWINGS change to be specified.

GENERAL LAYOUT PLAN spans provided. Expansion joint spacing required as per contract
& ELEVATION is minimum 200m.Interchange loop expansion spacing violates
DRAWINGS contract requirement.

CABLE STAYED BRIDGE Expansion joint EJ marked as 200m in the drawing. Expansion
GENERAL joint spacing required as per contract is minimum 300 m, to be
ARRANGEMENT shown in the drawing.
DRAWING

B202, B203& B204 pier location alignment differs from


submitted plan & profile drawing. Correction to be needed for
smooth profile.

JUHU CONNECTOR GA & Actual spacing to be checked and corrected in the drawing as per
BRIDGE ELEVATION spans provided. Expansion joint spacing required as per contract
DRAWINGS is minimum 200m.Interchange loop expansion spacing violates
contract requirement.
As per drawing, Toll Plaza starts from Ch. 1003.999m.& ends at
1413.999m.As per agreement drawing it starts from ch:865.0m
and ends at Ch.: 1447.0m.This results decrease in the length of
toll plaza approach by 172m. Technical justification in need of
reduction required.

It is observed that the bottom of pile cap is fixed to +2.0m above


MAIN VIADUCT MSL in the drawing. As per MSRDC letter MSRDC/02/VBSL/805
GENERAL LAYOUT PALN dated 30Jan 2019, Pile cap top level of 3.3m above MSL is
& ELEVATION allowed to be raised by 2.6m. Fix the top of pile cap level instead
DRAWINGS of soffit/bottom of pile cap from aesthetic point of view.

Expansion joint EJ marked as 200m in the drawing as a default.


Expansion joint spacing required as per contract is 300 m, to be
adopted in the drawing.

As per drawing, Toll Plaza starts from Ch. 1+645.07m.& ends at


2+236.16m.As per agreement drawing it starts from Ch.:

toll plaza approach by 90m,hence taper angle has been changed.
Technical justification needed. As per volume 3, minimum taper
to be provided at toll plaza is 1 in 10.
