Subject : Science

Chapter 2 : INTERDEPENDENCE AMONG LIVING ORGANISMS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Class : 2D

Number of students : 40 students

Unit 1

Students will be taught to :

Learning Objectives
 Recognize the mutual dependence between living things and the environment for ecosystem
balance

Students will be able to :

Learning Outcomes  State what species, population and community are

 State what habitat and ecosystem are

 Identify various habitats in one ecosystem,

Previous Knowledge  They learned the interdependance among living organisms and the environment in their primary 6

Teaching & Learning

 Textbook, worksheets, Slideshow, projectors
Resources

Induction Stage (5 mins)  Teacher greet the students

 Teacher give a little preview of the subject that she will teach on that day
Rational: student will be able know what is living organisms and the environment

Step 1 (Explore)
 Teacher will explain to them what is living organisms and ecosystem balance
 Teacher will give some examples in slides so that they can cope with the topic
Rational: Teacher will easy to explain when they have given example

 Teacher starts to introduces types of the species, populations, communities, habitats and
ecosystems, and natural balance.
Step 2 (Explain)
 Teacher continues by showing explanation in slides of each species, populations, communities,
habitats and ecosystems, and natural balance.

Rational: Student will know more about the knowledge they have today

 Teacher will give them exercise for them to do at home

Step 3 (Elaborate)
Rational: Student can practise their self

Closure  Teacher asks what did they learn today

 Teacher summarized the topic that they have learned in class
Rational: Teacher can see how far their student understand about that topic
Unit 2

Learning Objectives Students will be taught to :

 Understand interaction between living organisms.

Students will be able to :

Learning Outcomes  Identify types of interactions between living organisms,

 Explain with examples the interactions between living organisms,

 Understand the importance of interaction between living organisms and the environment,

Previous Knowledge  Student learn from the previous class

Teaching & Learning

 whiteboard, slideshow, textbook, and worksheet
Resources

Induction Stage (5 mins)  Teacher greet the students

 Teacher give a little preview of the subject that she/he will teach on that day
Rational: Student can flashback their knowledge

Step 1 (Explore)  Teacher will explain to them what is the interaction between living organisms.
 Teacher will give some examples so that they can cope with the topic
Rational: Student can understand more related to the topic

 Teacher starts to list the type of interactions between living organism

Step 2 (Explain)  Teacher continues by giving the importance of interaction between living organisms and
environment.
Rational: Teacher can easily explain when they give example to student

 Teacher will give an activity and exercise based on importance of interaction between living

Step 3 (Elaborate) organisms and environment in the Slideshow such as relation of prey-predator, symbiosis,
commensalism, mutualism and parasitism
 Teacher will give them exercise for them to do at home
Rational: Student can training from that exercise

Closure  Teacher asks what did they learn today

 Teacher summarized the topic that they have learned in class
Rational: Student can memorize what they learn that day.
Unit 3

Learning Objectives Students will be taught to :

 Discover Synthesis of food web.

Students will be able to :

 explain what producers, consumers and decomposers are,

Learning Outcomes
 combine a few food chains to construct a food web,

 identify the producer, consumer and decomposer in a food web,

 construct a pyramid number from a food chain,

Previous Knowledge  They learned food web in Form 1

Teaching & Learning Resources  Textbook, worksheets, whiteboard

Induction Stage (5 mins)

 Teacher greet the students
 Teacher give a little preview of the subject that she will teach on that day
Rational: To make students more interesting with the topic

 Teacher will explain to them what is food web, producers, consumers and decomposers
Step 1 (Explore) are
 Teacher will give some examples so that they can cope with the topic
Rational: Students can understand better when given example

 Teacher starts to introduces the combination of a few food chains to construct a food
Step 2 (Explain) web,
 Teacher continues by identify the producer, consumer and decomposer and construct a
pyramid number from a food chain and give example of it.
Rational; So that students will not get bored

 Teacher will give them exercise for them to do at home

Step 3 (Elaborate)
Rational: To make student more understand with that topic

Closure  Teacher asks what did they learn today

 Teacher summarized the topic that they have learned in class
Rational: Student will be more confident to understand that topic
Unit 4

Learning Objectives Students will be taught to :

 Analysis the photosynthesis and importance of photosynthesis

Students will be able to :

Learning Outcomes  Determine the factors required for photosynthesis,

 Control the variables that are required for photosynthesis,

 Analysis the role of photosynthesis in maintaining a balanced ecosystem.

Previous Knowledge  They learned the topic in unit 3

Teaching & Learning

 Textbook, worksheets, whiteboard
Resources

Induction Stage (5 mins)  Teacher greet the students

 Teacher give a little preview of the subject that she will teach on that day
Rational: Teacher remind the student about the topic
Step 1 (Explore)  Teacher will explain to them what is photosynthesis
 Teacher will give some examples so that they can cope with the topic
Rational: To see if the students can understand the topic

 Teacher starts to give example of how to control the variables that are required for photosynthesis
Step 2 (Explain)  Teacher continues with explanation of role of photosynthesis in maintaining a balanced ecosystem
Rational: when students see their teacher do example in whiteboard, student will more understand the
topic

 Teacher will give them exercise for them to do at home

Step 3 (Elaborate)
Rational: To keep the knowledge in their mind set

 Teacher asks what did they learn today

Closure  Teacher will summarized the topic that they have learned in class
Rational: Student can explain if teacher give question
