academe, CLSU has organized the e -STArt (Education, Environment, Entrepreneurship, Science,

Technology, and the Arts) International Academic R&D Festival. The event will be held on August 30-
September 1, 2017 at the CLSU Multipurpose Gymnasium, and is expected to gather together faculty
members, graduate, undergraduate, and senior high school students from different educational
institutions, local and international resource persons, and other stakeholders. The festival features
various activities that aim to inspire participants to engage in research and creative pursuits and
provide opportunities for creating, renewing or strengthening ties for collaboration. The theme of the
festival is “Interfacing Teaching and Research for Community Empowerment.” We have attached a
copy of the tentative program of activities for your perusal.
The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Academic Research Council, and
International Affairs Office of CLSU, the co-organizers of the festival, would be honored by your
participation, particularly in the symposium and research poster exhibition on August 30, 2017. The
registration fee is PhP 1,000, and entitles the participant access to the opening program, symposium,
poster and other exhibits, cultural show, morning and afternoon snacks, lunch, dinner, kit, and
certificate of participation.
You are also encouraged to submit an abstract of your research for possible inclusion in the
poster exhibition and competition. Please prepare your abstract according to the attached template
and send the MSWord file as an email attachment to Prof. Dr. Sofronio P. Kalaw
([email protected]) on or before August 15, 2017.
Participation in the activities during the second day requires separate invitation and payment of
additional fees, while the tour on the third day is optional and is not covered by the registration fee. If
you are interested in joining the tour, please contact Asst. Prof. Jay B. Villafria Jr.
([email protected]).
Please confirm your attendance by sending the scanned copy of the filled out pre-registration
form (please see the enclosed form) through email ([email protected]) on or before
