STAGE 1
• Students work in groups of three. If there are extra students, have
one or two groups of four.
• Give each student a complete set of adjective cards. Student A places
his/her cards face down in a pile in front of him/her, while Students
B and C lay their cards out face up in front of them.
• Student A then turns over the cards one at a time, saying the word
on the card as he/she places it down on the desk. Students B and C
have to look through their own cards as quickly as possible to find
the matching adjective. (For example, if Student A turns over angry,
Students B and C have to look through their cards for furious.)
• The first student to place the matching card on top of the adjective
card takes the ‘trick’. The winner is the student with the most tricks.
• Students then change over so that someone else is student A, and
play the game again.
STAGE 2
• Give each student a copy of the Questionnaire. Students work
individually and fill in the gaps with a suitable adjective.
• Students then work in pairs and ask each other the questions.
Encourage students to ask suitable follow-up questions where
appropriate.
• Students report back to the class on the most interesting things they
found out about their partners.
