Various Ways of Shirt Packing

Packing, Marking & Labeling is not unknown in Apparel Industry. It is the most hassling
thing and is an essential part, is also one of the major factor in the apparel industry. It is
the most hassling thing and is an essential part and is also one of the major factor in the
apparel industry. The paper presentation is on different methods of packing of shirts used
in apparel industries. This paper is mainly done to know different ways of shirt pack? How
to prepare shirt to pack? Which method is commonly considered or used by the apparel
industry? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each packing? Which is most
impressive method of packing?

The Apparel product under regulation by category includes-shirts, trousers, skirts,


dress/tops, T-shirts. Etc. Packaging means packing of the product in some container to
reach the ultimate consumer and the means of protective covering used for the
transportation and shipment of goods. It fulfills a vital role in helping to get the export
products to the market in the best condition as well as in presenting goods to the buyers in
an attractive way. This paper presentation is mainly on the various ways of shirt pack used
in apparel industry. There are 6 different ways of packing methods used for shirt. They
are:

i) Stand up pack-with packing materials


ii) Flat pack
a) Flat pack with collar without any packing materials
b) Flat pack without collar and also without any packing materials
iii) Umbrella pack
iv) Cinnabun pack
v) Deadman fold pack
vi) Roll pack

Studying the various ways of packing of shirt


which are commonly in use in the apparel
industries. Material used are shirts to show
packing methods and packing materials like
polybag, collar packing accessories, clips, tissue
paper. Etc. There are 6 different ways of packing
methods used for shirt which are as follows:

Stand up pack-with packing materials

In this packing first the collar accessories are


put, and then tissue paper sheets are placed
along with the yoke. Fold the sleeves on the
back of the garment, and then fold the shirt 3 in
the height. Maintain the back of folding to
sleeves with 2 clips, now the folded shirt is
ready. This is most commonly used packing of
shirt for formal shirts. Slide the garment into
the poly bag. Secure end with tape.

This method requires various packing materials which are as follows;


• Collar accessories like Collar Patti, butterfly, collar Traveler
• Gripper, U pins
• Tissue paper
• Back support

Flat pack

Lay the garment flat on its face. Place clip board on the garment on the back yoke. Fold the
sleeves to the back body, then fold body in half, remove the clip board. Fold back, and then
slide the garment into the poly bag. Secure end with tape, all labels are visible and the
sticker tag at the centre of the front.

• Flat pack with collar without any packing materials


• Flat pack without collar and also without any packing materials

Umbrella pack

Lay garment flat on its face, fold sleeves to back body. Roll garment lengthwise side to
side, then twist garment twice at both ends. Slide garment into poly bag. Secure end with
tape. Here all labels are visible.

Cinnabun pack

Fold sleeves to back


body. Roll the
garment lengthwise
side to side and then
twist the garment
twice at both sides.
Roll into round then
slide garment into
polybag. Secure end
with tape. Slight
manipulation of this
will give potato pack.

Deadman fold pack

Fold the shirt with sleeves at the back. Then slide garment into the polybag, secure end
with tape.

Roll pack

Fold sleeves to back body. Roll garment lengthwise side to side. Then roll into round. Slide
the garment into the polybag, secure end with tape. Rollup tape is used as packing
materials.

1) Based on the presentation:


By the above observations, the presentation by standup pack is better than the other
packing of shirt. It gives attration during presentation. This is best suited for the formal
shirt.

2. Based on the quantity of shirts which can be packed into the carton boxes

By the above observation, it says that by roll packing method number of shirts which has
to packed inside the carton boxes are more than the other packing, this is because roll
packing takes less space when compared to other packing.

3. Based on the requirements of accessories like collar accessories, pins or any other
packing accessories

By the above reults, it says that the number of accessories required by the standup pack is
more when compared with others.

4. Based on the packing cost:

Looking into the packing cost, the graph states that standup pack packing cost is high. This
is because lot of packing accessories are used in this type of packing.

Conclusion

For formal shirts, most of the apparel industries commonly uses stand up collar pack with
packing materials, this is because this method of packing attracts the buyers due to the
presentation.

Whereas the other types of packing of shirt like Flat Pack, Umbrella pack,
Cinnabun/potato pack or roll pack are used based on the buyer requirement. These types
of packing are mainly used for the Casual shirts.
