THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

This study is to investigate the customers satisfaction regards to the public transportation especially

the public buses here in Santa Maria, Bulacan. In modern times (1993) “Carabao” declared here in the

Philippines as our national animal, because it is the first invented helpful animals to the farmers, it can carry

people, and heavy things and also it can help to their farm business. After a year people invented the first

motor engines to carry people and things easily, after a fast year people made from its ideas to carry more

groups of people, things and belongings on long distance and until now we use it as a public transportation.

Here in the Philippines there are two major types of Public transportation, those are the Public

Utility Bus (PUB) and the Public Utility Jeep (PUJ) “King of the road” is one of those aliases given to

them, there are reason why they are called like that bus around the Philippines, Luzon, Visayas, and

Mindanao. They are everywhere, twenty-four seven 24/7. Different route, different style and variety of

ways and strategy to call the attention of their target market which are those people who preferred to

commute.

King of the road is the often phrase that we use, public utility bus that we often saw at the road or

highway, this is the reason why traveling is easy for us. Transportation is very useful in country. It has a

big contribution to their economy. Because of transportation that’s why the products and goods are

delivered quickly and conveniently. Without the transportation, the movement of peoples and other

activities around the country are paralyzed. Imagine if there is no one will take you into your desired

destination? What if there’s nothing to ride of surely, it’s a total choose? Government is very stick in this

subject matter. They really conduct a wide and accurate research about different kind of transportation,

wherever it is, in land, sea and air. They are really strict in making laws and implementing rules for
transportation. The government is still eager to improve the way of transportation, building, railways, roads

and other things in order to be more convenient and easier for us to travel. Those people who really need a

good transportation are those people who have lot of work to do. They’re the businessman, politicians, actor

and actresses, students and workers. The stream-power road vehicle although it was unable to maintain

sufficient steam pressure for long periods, and would have been of titles practical use. Although several

other German engineers (including Daimler, Wilhelm Maybach, and Siegfried Marcus) were working on

the problem at about the same time, Karl Benz, generally is acknowledgement as the inventor of the modern

automobile.in 1879, Benz, was granted a patent for firs engine, which had been designed 1878. Many

of his other inventions made the use of the internal combustion engines feasible for powering a vehicle.

Karl Benz is also a lot of innovation came, a lot of automobile company creates their own, like Ford and

Mazda who’s also a leading car of company in present.

Automobile is being improved every time. In order to each the needs of those people who really

need a car. Automobile is nothing without the road. Road is the identifiable ways between places. In order

for an automobile to go a certain destination, needs to use the road. One of the government yearly projects

is to ensure that the roads in urban and rural are the road. if the road is not so smooth, it will give a headache

to a driver because it affects the functions of an automobile.

There are so many ways on riding in a bus. You can go to the bus terminals and pay the ticket while

you are riding in a bus. But you can also buy the tickets via online bus ticket reservation. This is a window-

based application that works within centralized network. The software program “Online Ticket Reservation

System” provides by the bus transportation. Online bus ticket booking is so much easier than customers

think. The customers only need to select they origin destination, the number of packs and departure date

and they will provide the customers with the list of available tips for booking.

Bus transit provides many benefits to transit riders, the environment and also the business

community. Transit serves low income populations that have no other travel alternatives, but income
population that have no other travel alternatives, but also increasingly serves higher income groups who

choose to ride transit because it is cheaper and less stressful than driving the own vehicles. The availability

of transit allows for higher density of development and increases the market area of adjoining businesses.

Our transportation in the Philippines is underdeveloped. Due to our country the mountainous areas

and scattered islands and some partly as a result of our Government’s persistent. In recent years the

Philippine Government has been pushing to improvement of our transportation system through various

infrastructure projects.

Transportation is an integral part of modern life. According to Kumara et al. (2010) and Rehrl et

al. (2007) a good transportation network is one of the modernize city’s initial properties because todays

modern society needs mobility in every aspects of life. Everyday people need to go to work, students need

to go to school, and products need to reach the other end of the supply chain, however, because of the

continuous population growth in the world.

All bus transportation here in Santa Maria, Bulacan is of essence to their entire passenger. Due to

the fact they offer opportunity to move from one place to another with ease. Bus transportation performs a

lot of functions for their passenger, they enhance the quality of life in societies on condition that it provides

the safeness of the passenger, the efficient and also affordable of services.

The most Santa Maria citizen transportation problems are traffic movement and congestions,

construct the road that cause of heavy traffic, crowding on public transport, difficulties for pedestrian

lanes, environmental pollution, accidents, and parking difficulties but of course, Santa Maria and other

cities have also made significant effort in solving some of these problems.

(2015) census in Santa Maria, Bulacan, there is a total of 256,454 populations. Most of the people

live here are choosing to ride on the public transit, most of them are the students and the employees. They

choose to ride on a public transit than to drive for their own because of the big savings on the fee rather

than the diesel, gas, or fuel that used to the car. Even though they know that some of the drivers of the bus

has driven fast and it cause of accident

the bus. Students, workers, office-workers and those normal types of people who preferred to commute. If

there is a passenger there is also public utility vehicle. Every passenger has different kinds of attitudes,

different choices, different needs and wants. They choose the best type of transportation that fits for them,

most convenient, most easy, most cheap and practical; customer’s attitude is also a big factor for this kind

of business and profession.

Transportations are also give and take process. Passenger will pay for a ride. Even if it is late, they

take you to your destination the relationship of the passenger and driver sometimes has difficulties. There’s

a conflict because of their attitude which leads them to misunderstanding.

Have you encountered different types of drivers? Those drivers who are so hospitable, those drivers

who really given an importance to their customers or passenger. They really care for the outcome of their

way of driving. Have you encountered those drivers that really hard headed? You will never like them at

all attitude is a big factor for this kind of profession; it has a big effect in their daily income and the numbers

of passenger who will ride them.

The purpose of this study is to determine the customers or passenger’s satisfaction on the bus or

public transportation.
