There’s a famous saying by Søren Kierkegaard: “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be
lived forwards.” We are living in an ever-changing world and it’s only a matter of time when we start to
perceive major transition in our life. In my own viewpoint, the ways our reality functions and resembles
will change significantly in the year 2060.
Our future will be filled with machinery, floating buildings, solar powered vehicles, etc… Intelligent
machines working in manufactory endlessly. Humans then might become more adapted to the environment
and dwell our planet longer. Future students will be more flexible in their study because of major
improvements in the education system.
Perhaps the most expected change is that our world will be heavily mechanized due to rapid technological
advancements. There might be flying cars, holographic advertisement or even levitating houses. Heavy
labor work and demanding jobs such as: Farmers, Builders, Plumber, etc… will all be accomplished with
the use of machines. Future generations will have more opportunity to experience life and be free of stress.
In addition, soon human workers will be replaced with robots, which are able to work nonstop and
multitask.
Rapid furtherance in science and medication means we can expect that humans will be able to live much
longer. Humans will enjoy a more healthy life with organic food and environment thanks to the science’s
efforts in healing our world. Medications development will allow today’s life-threatening diseases like
Cancer, HIV-AIDS, MARV to be cured or treated. Strokes and heart attacks can be predicted with the use
of micro-membranes implanted inside a patient’s heart. Even more, the high demand for organ donors will
be resolved using 3D printing technology when it allows us to create sophisticated synthetic human organs.
Like Malcom X said: “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare
for it today.” It is possible that the education system in 2060 will be completely revolutionized. Teachers
won’t be delivering the lessons but orientating the students to self-study instead. Students won’t be forced
to sit in a classroom to learn. In fact, they can study wherever and however they want. Students will also no
longer be pressured by exams since their capabilities will be accessed at each level. Home-schooling will
be greatly improved with the help of modern technology like robot tutors whose tutoring abilities will
likely to surpass human’s.
However, in order to ensure a bright future there’s a few problems which we must face. War has always
been a major problem, no matter what era. Wars are mostly caused to assert dominance between nations.
With advancements in technology, the military will undoubtedly implement them into making highly
destructive weapons which will put our planet on the brink of extinction. Furthermore, the most
troublesome challenge that mankind will be facing is global warming. It’s very probable that in 2060, our
Earth will literally be a big fireball due to global warming. As reported by NASA, the globally temperature
has risen about 1.8°F since 1880. If not resolved soon, many countries or even continents on Earth will
inevitably disappear as the result of rising sea levels as the ice from the 2 poles melts.
It’s unclear how our future will turn out but I’m confident that our future will be dazzling provided that the
challenges are dealt with. Instead of thinking of how the future will turn out, it is much more efficient to
consider what to do at the present, just like how Mahatma Gandhi used to say: “The future depends on what
you do today.”
