6. Install bracket (10) to housing (37) without the shims. Install nuts (4A).
7. Evenly tighten nuts (4A) to a torque of 20 N·m (15 lb ft). Use Tooling (D) to rotate the circle drive
worm (30) 3 revolutions. Then tighten nuts (4A) to a torque of (4A) to 40 N·m (30 lb ft). Use Tooling
(D) to rotate the circle drive worm (30) 3 revolutions. Then tighten nuts (4A) to a torque of 80 N·m
(60 lb ft). Use Tooling (D) to rotate the circle drive worm (30) 3 revolutions.
8. Measure and record the gap between bracket (10) and the housing.

10. Install shims (10A) from measurement in step 8, bracket (10), and nuts (4) and (4A).

11. Evenly tighten nuts (4) and (4A) to a torque of 105 ± 20 N·m (77 ± 15 lb ft).
12. Install Tooling (D) on circle drive worm (30) to measure rolling torque.
13. Repeat from step 9 and add or subtract shims (10A) to achieve a rolling torque of 21.5 ± 2.5 N·m
(16 ± 2 lb ft).
14. Remove nuts (4) and (4A), bracket (10), and shims (10A).

15. Install drive shaft (29), gear (25), and plate (28) in housing (37).

Note: Pre soak the friction discs in clean oil prior to installation.
16. Install friction disc (26) and disc (27) starting with friction disc (26) and alternating with discs (27)
into gear (25).
17. Install spacer (24), spring disc (23), and sleeve (22).

18. Lower the temperature of bearing (34). Use Tooling (A) to install bearing (34) even with the bottom
face of cover (16).
19. Install O-ring seal (35) on cover (16). Lubricate the O-ring seal with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Note: Install cover (16) with the drain plug parallel to the circle drive worm and opposite gerotor
motor location.
20. Install bolts (15). Apply Tooling (C) to bolts (15A). Install bolts (15A).

Note: If bolts (19) are M16 bolts, follow Step 21 through Step 27 for the correct shimming procedure.
21. Install retainer (21) and bolts (19). Tighten bolts (19) to 150 ± 20 N·m (111 ± 15 lb ft).
22. Wait 45 minutes, then remove bolts (19) and retainer (21).
23. Use Tooling (B) to obtain the distance from the end of drive shaft (29) to the flat surface on sleeve
(22).
24. Subtract 2.30 ± 0.25 mm (0.10 ± 0.01 inch) from the dimension that was measured in Step 23. The
calculated dimension is the thickness of the shims (20).
27. Tighten bolts (19) again to a torque of 240 ± 40 N·m (177 ± 30 lb ft).
Note: If bolts (19) are 1/2-13 thd bolts, follow Step 28 through Step 34 for the correct shimming
procedure.
28. Install drive shaft assembly (29). Install retainer (21) and bolts (19). Tighten bolts (19) to 130 ± 7 N·m
(96 ± 5 lb ft).
29. Wait 45 minutes, then remove bolts (19) and retainer (21).
30. Use Tooling (B) to obtain the distance from the end of drive shaft (29) to the flat surface on sleeve
(22).
31. Subtract 2.30 ± 0.25 mm (0.10 ± 0.01 inch) from the dimension that was measured in Step 30. The
calculated dimension is the thickness of shims (20).
34. Tighten bolts (19) again to a torque of 130 ± 7 N·m (96 ± 5 lb ft).

37. Install the shims (10A) determined in Step 13. Install bracket (10), the washers, nuts (4), and (4A).
Evenly tighten nuts (4) and (4A) to a torque of 105 ± 20 N·m (77 ± 15 lb ft).
