Dear AP Calculus Stars,

PLEASE READ THIS MESSAGE IN ITS ENTIRETY AND LET ME KNOW IF

YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS

It's that time of year. We officially have 15 school days left before your AP exam!
Please use Spring Break to catch up on your AP Calculus work if you have not
already completed through unit 5.

Update from College Board

The AP Calculus AB Exam will now be calculator friendly, comprised of only free
response questions, open notes and open book. This does not mean you need
to study less. This means you need to focus less on memorizing formulas and
more on understanding concepts and applications. I have provided you with a
formula sheet that covers a majority of the formulas you need for the AP exam.

The AP Calculus AB Exam will consist of 2 Free Response Questions ONLY this
year. The first will be a 25 minute FRQ and then you will have 5 minutes to
upload your work. The second will be a 15 minute FRQ and then you will have 5
minutes to upload that work. I will be making a recording of all details for your AP
exam next week while you are on Spring Break. As soon as its complete I will
send it out through webmail and post it on the message board. Don’t hesitate to
contact me should you have any questions.

Topics that WILL be covered on the AP Exam:

- Limits and Continuity
- Differentiation: Definition and Fundamental Properties
- Differentiation: Composite, Implicit, and Inverse Functions
- Contextual Applications of Differentiation
- Analytical Applications of Differentiation
- Integration and Accumulation of Change
- Differential Equations

Topics that WILL NOT covered on the AP Exam:

- Applications of Integration including Area and Volume

AP Calculus AB B Final Assignment (DUE APRIL 26TH)

April 6-17 I will be out of the office. Since I will not be available I wanted to make
sure you are aware of everything you need to do for Unit 6 in Connexus. I will be
available from 8:00-4:00 today if you have any questions! If you have any
questions after today, just text me and I will respond as soon as possible.
(my number is 803-470-5821).

I will be checking my webmail and text messages periodically throughout

the next two weeks so if you need to reach me those are the best methods.

Free Response Practice AP Exam:

I have dropped lesson 6.5 for you in Connexus. This is where you were
supposed to take an AP Practice Exam. Instead of doing this in Connexus you
are going to be completing your practice Exam in AP Classroom. The Exam will
be available from April 8-April 21. You MUST complete it during this time. You
do not need to take the whole thing in one sitting, but you should time yourself
and give yourself 15 minutes per free response question:

- The exam will consist of 9 Free Response Questions.

- Please allow yourself no more and no less than 15 minutes per FRQ.
- You may use a calculator on all questions, BUT you MUST show work
and justifications for each question.
- Spend enough time to clearly write out each step. Most of your points will
be earned by showing and carrying out proper methods for each problem.
- Explain, communicate, and justify.
- After answering each question, re-read the question statement to ensure
that you’ve understood what the question was asking.
- You may use your FORMULA SHEET and any notes you may wish, but
remember, 15 MINUTES PER FRQ.

For this test you will need to log into AP classroom and you will see each part
assigned there (starting on April 8th). Please treat this as if you were taking the
actual AP exam.

For each free response question you will complete these questions on paper and
upload them in the space provided. These are unable to be timed so you will
have to time yourself. Please do not give yourself more time than is noted
above. It will only hurt you in your preparation for the AP Exam. Once you have
completed the questions in each section upload them into the space provided
and click submit. If you have trouble with this you may webmail them to me.

I will be logging in at least every other day and grading all tests that have
been submitted thus far. I will then webmail you your results and score
sheet.

AP Practice Exam Reflection Paper:

Once you receive the webmail from me with your results and score sheet you are
to write a reflection paper with the following guidelines:
- 12 pt font, Times New Roman, double spaced
- Answer each question with at least one well written, full paragraph (5
sentences minimum).
1) How did you feel overall about the test? This can include but is not
limited to timing, difficulty of questions etc.
2) What was your strength in this test? How can you use this
strength in preparation for your real AP Exam?
3) What was your weakness in this test? How can you use this
weakness in preparation for your real AP Exam?
4) What extra steps do you feel you need to take in order to fully
prepare yourself for your real AP Exam?
- Please read over your reflection for proper wording and grammatical
mistakes. Save the document as a PDF and webmail it to me.

Please note any submission that does not follow these guidelines will be
returned to you with a grade of zero.

How This Will Be Graded:

This full assignment will count as a portfolio grade. I have placed a custom
assignment in your gradebook. The portfolio is worth 20 points:
- A maximum of 10 points will be awarded for fully completing all 9 Free
Response Questions in AP Classroom. You will be graded on
completion, not performance.
- A maximum of 10 points will be awarded for your reflection paper. This
will be graded on performance.

This assignment (including the reflection paper) must be completed and

submitted in its entirety by April 26th @ 11:59pm. No extensions will be
granted and if it is not completed you will receive a permanent zero for this
portfolio.

I know you can do this! I have complete faith in you!!!
