Preface
Scope
Current manual describes the process of installing, configuring and using Module software on server
and client computers.
Target Audience
• Installing and configuring software: this manual is designed for system administrators. It is
assumed the user has advanced skills on Microsoft R Windows R Operating System, installing
new hardware into system unit, and he/she has practical experience with TCP/IP networking,
serial (COM) ports and general CCTV knowledge and overview.
• Using SecurOS WebView: this manual is designed for SecurOS users. It is assumed the user
has basic knowledge of using mouse and keyboard and SecurOS user interface.
Using This Manual

This document is organized as a book, so the user can print it or use electronic version. In latter
case one can use Adobe Reader’s Bookmarks feature as well as cross-reference hyperlinks to navigate
through content. In several topics this manual refers to other SecurOS manuals (SecurOS Installation
Guide, SecurOS Administration Guide, SecurOS User Guide, SecurOS Programming Guide). One can
find these manuals as separate files on SecurOS installation CD or download them from Intelligent
Security Systems Company web site (www.isscctv.com).

General Features
1. General Features
SecurOS WebView (below Module) is a software bundle intended for watching live and archive video
over the web-interface through the HTTP protocol. Module works with SecurOS video servers as well
as with Inspector+/VideoInspector Professional/VideoInspector Global based video servers.
Module receives data from SecurOS video servers connected with WebView server via network.
Module has the following capabilities:
• Fully integratable with SecurOS
• Monitoring cameras video stream on-line over the Internet
• Viewing archive video on-line
1.1 Types of Configurations
1.1.1 Standalone Configuration

This setup may be used for mid-size applications. Here the server acts as an video server.
On standalone configuration (web server is a video server) installing and configuring WebView consists
of the following steps:
1. Installing JDK, Tomcat and WebView software.
2. Configuring Module objects in SecurOS (Inspector+ / VideoInspector

Professional / VideoInspector Global).
1.1.2 Server-Workstation Configuration

On distributed architecture (web server and video server are physically distributed on different com-
puters) installing and configuring WebView consists of the following steps:
• on video server:
1. Installing Module software (without JDK and Apache Tomcat software).

2. Configuring Module objects in SecurOS (Inspector+ / VideoInspector
Professional / VideoInspector Global).
• on web server:
1. Installing JDK, Tomcat and WebView software.

2. Editing WebView configuration XML file: setting video server address.

2. Deploying Module
Please follow these steps to ensure proper system deployment:
1. Check system requirements for each server and workstation of your security network.
2. Install Module software.
Each step will be described in the following paragraphs.
2.1 Checking System Requirements

Module has to be installed on a separate computer connected via network with video servers. Installing
Module directly on particular video server is allowed, however it imposes increased server productivity
requirements (see SecurOS Installation Guide).
Before installing Module software review system requirements below and make sure that your com-
puters comply with them.
2.1.1 Application Server Requirements

Minimum requirements for application server equipment are given in the following table.

2.1.2 Administrator Workstation Requirements

Minimum requirements for administrator workstation equipment are given in the following table.

2.2 Installing Server Application

This section describes Module software installation on a SecurOS network computer. JRE (Java
Runtime Environment) and Apache Tomcat web server software is required to work with the Module.
If one of this products is not yet installed on the computer it will be installed automatically on the
Module installation process.
Warning! Java Runtime Environment (JRE) application is not compatible with NOD32 anti-
virus one. We recommend to disable the anti-virus or install an another one.
2.2.1 Installation Procedure

1. Insert the CD disc containing Module software into the CD-ROM drive. Launch the
Install.exe file.
The language dialog will appear. Select the language which will be used during the installation
process, and click the OK button. TheSetup Wizard window will be displayed (see figure 1).
Setup Wizard will guide you through a number of screens to gather all the required information
prior to copying any files, so you can quit Setup Wizard and cancel the procedure at any step
without consequences. You can also go back to any previous step to alter settings by clicking
Back button. Click the Next button to continue.

2. Read the license agreement carefully. Select I accept the agreement if you agree to the
terms and click Next button to continue. If you do not agree with the license agreement, click
Cancel button to quit installation.
3. Select the path on your local hard drive where the software will be installed to. You do not
need to change the default value unless in rare cases. You can browse your disks and folders to
choose another destination using . Click Next button to continue.
4. Choose required components to install (figure 2). To do this, activate corresponding fields in
the list. By default all components are selected. If JRE and/or Apache Tomcat 5.5.X software
will be found on the computer these components will be absent in the list. Click Next button to
continue.
Warning! Module works with the Apache Tomcat 5.5.X software only.
5. Choose program interface language from the list in appearing language select window. To do
this, enable corresponding field in the list. Click Next button to continue.

6. If JRE installation was chosen (see item 4), in appearing window select the path on the
local hard drive where the JRE software will be installed to. By default JRE will be in-
stalled in <Program Files>\Java\jre1.6.0_05 folder, where <Program Files> — path to the
Program Files system folder. To choose another destination in both fields, browse local disks
and folders using the Browse button, or type in the desired path manually. Click Next button
to continue.
7. If JRE installation was disabled (see item 4), in appearing window select path on the local
hard drive where the Apache Tomcat 5.5 software will be installed to, and path to the al-
ready installed JRE software (figure 3). By default Apache Tomcat 5.5 will be installed in
<Program Files>\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5, where <Program Files> —
path to the Program Files system folder. To choose another destination in both fields, browse
local disks and folders using the Browse button, or type in the desired path manually. Click
Next button to continue (see item 9).
8. If Apache Tomcat 5.5 installation was chosen (see item 4), in appearing window select the path
on the local hard drive where the Apache Tomcat software will be installed to. By default this
folder is C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5. To choose another
destination, browse local disks and folders using the Browse button, or type in the desired path
manually. Click Next button to continue.

9. Define the following settings for Apache Tomcat server in appearing window (see figure 4):
• server network port in HTTP/1.1 Connector Port field

• username for server administrator
• administrator password (with confirmation)
Warning! Remember this login and password because it is used for Apache Tomcat server
configuration and maintenance.

10. Review your installation preferences and click the Back button to make changes, if necessary.
If everything is correct, click the Install button. The installation process will begin.
11. After the installation process has completed, a window will appear where you should click the
Finish button to exit the installation program.
If Setup Wizard asks you to restart the computer, select either to restart now, or restart the
computer later (in latter case you will need to restart computer manually before launching the
Module).

3. Administrating Module
The procedure of creating objects is described in SecurOS Administration Guide (or corresponding
manual for Inspector+ / VideoInspector Professional / VideoInspector Global).
The following objects are needed to work with Module:
• WebView Server object

• one or several WebView Monitor objects
Note: To set video server address and/or connection timeout manually use XML file, see 3.2 Editing
XML Files on page 19.

For preventing of problems of JAVA linked to a memory leak it is possible to limit as much as possible
admissible size of the RAM in Apache Tomcat Properties window (the Maximum memory pool
field, see figure 5). The recommended maximum size - half of installed RAM.
Note: The memory leak can express in deceleration of speed of operation WebView, problems of authori-
sation of users, impossibility to come on page WebView.
Use User rights object to set access level for system objects (e. g. cameras, PTZ devices). Link the
above scheme of user rights to one or more persons and define individual passwords for each of them
in the object table (see SecurOS Administration Guide).
Warning! To work with cameras and PTZ devices user must have either Control or Configure
or Full access rights.

3.1 Object Reference
3.1.1 WebView Server

WebView Server object represents Module core, defines cameras available for all WebView monitors
and optionally specifies video stream parameters.
Parent object: Computer (see SecurOS Administration Guide).

Optional: select the video concentrator to get this camera video

If no concentrator is specified, video is taken directly from video

Optional: select the maximum frame rate of the video feed deliv-
ered to clients. The frame rate cannot exceed physical frame rate

of the video from the camera. If not specified, original frame rate
is used.

Optional: select the compression type of the video that will be
transmitted to the clients (if the source and target compression

compression is used. The more the value the worse the quality of
video is.
3.1.2 WebView Monitor

WebView Monitor object defines layout (quantity of simultaneously displayed cells — 1, 4, 9, etc.) and
connections for each cell. Each monitor is represented in the user interface as a separate icon (see
figure 11).
Parent object: WebView Server (see 3.1.1 WebView Server on page 15).

Specify width and height of the monitor window (in pixels). If
Width / Height these parameters are not defined, they will be automatically cal-
culated.
Max layout Select maximal available video monitor layout (see figure 8).
Default layout Select video monitor layout on Module start up (see figure 8).
Select monitor type. Possible values:
Playback — archive video only
Live only — live video only

Monitor type
Normal — live and archive video
According to this value there will be additional buttons on user in-

terface (e. g. button to enter/exit from archive, archive navigation
buttons.
Description Specify monitor name for displaying in user interface.

Camera object name. It is possible to use either ID or Name

3.2 Editing XML Files
Warning! Close Tomcat console window before editing of Module configuration XML files.
All Module settings are contained in following files:
• C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.0\conf\Catalina\

localhost\webview.xml
• C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.0\webapps\webview\

WEB-INF\web.xml
To edit these files use any XML editor supporting UTF-8 encoding. If you do not plan to define
Russian names of video sources and monitors you can use any text editor (e. g. Notepad).
3.2.1 Setting Video Server Address

Configuration consists of the defining video sever IP address. WebView will connect to this video
server.
Open webview.xml file and define both the video server IP address in host parameter and the
same video server identifier in SecurOS security network (see SecurOS Administration Guide) in
videoServerId parameter.

4. Using WebView
4.1 Configuring Browser
It is necessary to configure web browser before working with WebView. Instructions for all supported
browsers types are given below.
4.1.1 Configuring Internet Explorer Browser

Make sure this site (address of web server with WebView installed, e. g. localhost) is in the list of
allowed sites in Pop-up Blocker settings, or Pop-up Blocker feature is completely disabled (see Tools
→ Pop-up Blocker → Pop-up Blocker Settings).
The Internet Explorer browser uses the ActiveX component to reproduce video. However you can
watch video without this component if the ActiveX component downloading is forbidden.
It is recommended to permit downloading it since the ActiveX component provides high image quality
and it is less resource-intensive.
To permit the ActiveX component downloading, select the Prompt radio button in Download unsigned
ActiveX controls option Tools → Internet Options → Security → InternetCustom Level).
For more information about ActiveX see 4.2 Starting WebView on page 21.
4.1.2 Configuring Mozilla/Firefox Browser

1. Open about:config URL in browser.
2. Modify values of the following four parameters below:
• network.http.max-connections → 255
• network.http.max-connections-per-server → 255
• network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy → 255
• network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server → 255
3. Make sure this site (address of web server with WebView installed, e. g. localhost) is in the
list of allowed sites in Pop-up Blocker settings, or Block Popup Windows feature is completely
disabled. See:
• for Mozilla: Tools → Popup Manager)

• for Mozilla Firefox: Tools → Options → Content → Allowed Sites)
4.1.3 Configuring Opera Browser

Make sure you have pop-ups enabled (Open all pop-ups option is selected on Tools → Preferences
→ General tab).
Note: It is recommended to disable caching (select Clean and Disable option on Tools → Preferences
→ Additional → Disk cache tab).

Using WebView
4.2 Starting WebView

Run a web browser.
Open http://<server>:<port>/webview/ address (where <server> is a name of the web server
with WebView installed; <port> is a web server port defined on Apache Tomcat installation, see figure
4). The authorization page will appear to enter username and password.
Warning! The process of user authorization runs in accordance with his rights, i. e. access to
cameras archive and PTZ controlling.
To choose the interface language, click the corresponding button on the authorization page toolbar
(e. g. English button, see figure 9).

On authorization page, type in username and password and click Continue button.
If number of connections is exceeded (see 3.1.1 WebView Server on page 15), 16), then the following
window will appear (figure 10):
Wait until some users leave the system and try one more time.
After entering the system successfully a start page will be displayed (see figure 11) with monitor icons
(on clicking Video button).
There are the following quick buttons on the left part of the toolbar:
• Video — available monitors and current information (see figure 11)

To configure Internet Explorer browser:
1. Click Settings button on the right part of the toolbar (see figure 11).
2. In appeared window define video acceleration by clicking the corresponding check box (Use
ActiveX control with hardware acceleration / Use ActiveX control with no hardware ac-
celeration / Do not use ActiveX control).
3. Click Remember button to save settings.

Using WebView
To log off, click Log off button on the right part of the toolbar (see figure 11). The Authorization
page will be opened (see figure 9).
To open monitor, click its icon (see figure 11).
On using Internet Explorer browser the page with error message can appear (see figure 12). It means
that there are no ActiveX component on the computer.
To download required ActiveX component, make sure the web browser settings are correct (see
4.1.1 Configuring Internet Explorer Browser on page 20) and click the top browser window area.
A drop-down list box of possible options will appear. Choose the download option and click it.
If one cannot download the ActiveX component, click view video in compatibility mode (without

4.3 Working with Monitor

One can make the following actions with a monitor:
• choose monitor layout
• activate camera
• choose camera

4.3.1 Choosing Monitor and Layout

To switch between monitors, click the corresponding button on the top left monitor corner.
Note: The monitor can be selected also by choosing the required one from the monitors drop-down list
box.
The monitor layout defines a number and mutual positions of camera cells. Use buttons in the top left
monitor corner (below monitors switching buttons) to choose layout.

Note: With display resolution 1280 × 1024 or lower all buttons for camera cells are accessible in the
maximized monitor window with 1, 4, 1+5, 9 layouts only. Display resolution on the client workstation
has to be increased for viewing buttons in 1+7, 16 layouts.
To enter in DVR mode, click DVR button. For more information on DVR mode and its panels see
SecurOS User Guide.
Note: In contrast to SecurOS DVR Search panel, the SecurOS WebView one enables bookmark search
only.
4.3.2 Activating Camera

To perform any actions with a camera, click its icon (cell). The controls will appear around selected
camera.
4.3.3 Choosing Camera From List

The list of accessible cameras and their buttons are located on the right side of the monitor.
To choose a camera, click its button on the list. The corresponding cell will be activated and additional
controls will appear within (see 4.4 Working With Camera on page 26).
Warning! Number displayed in a camera button is not a camera ID. It is a cell number in
monitor layout. Camera name (ID) is near to the corresponding camera button.
Warning! During camera initialization (as well as performing requests to a server) the Per-
forming operation message appears (and disappears upon the request completion).

4.3.4 Running Macros

Depending on system settings a macros panel can be displayed on monitor (see figure 14).
To run a macro:
1. Select the required one from the Command drop-down list box.
2. Click Run button.
4.3.5 PTZ Controlling

PTZ controlling interface is located on the right side of the monitor (after the list of accessible
cameras). It appears on activating camera with configured PTZ controlling.

4.4 Working With Camera

A camera can work in two modes: live video and archive.
The following functions are available in both modes (see figure 16):
• Pausing video (Pause button)
• Resuming video (Play button)
• Entering and leaving archive mode (Archive button)
• Entering archive and positioning it to the specified date and time (Calendar button)
According to chosen monitor type (see 3.1.2 WebView Monitor on page 16) some functions can be
disabled. For example, on working with Live only monitor type it is impossible to enter in archive
mode, whereas on working with Playback monitor type it is impossible to view live video.

Warning! If the client does not send requests to the server for a certain time (the Connection
timeout value, see 3.1.1 WebView Server on page 15), the session discontinues, and it is
necessary to reconnect to the server (i. e. to choose the camera from the list).
Warning! If the connection to WebView server is performed through a proxy server with large
files download protection, then occasional stops and delays might be occurred during live video
and archive watching. To resume watching, click Pause and then Play buttons.
4.4.1 Pausing and Resuming Video

1. Activate the camera.
2. Click Pause button to pause video.
Note: In live video mode video stream transfer is suspended then.
3. Click Play button to resume video.
4.4.2 Entering and Leaving Archive

To enter/leave archive mode:
2. Click Archive (see figure 16).
If archive exists on a server for the chosen camera, the first frame of the most recent archive video
fragment will be displayed. If there is no archive, an ARCHIVE ERROR message will appear.
Click Archive button again to return to live video mode.
Warning! Playback monitor type is always in one-cell layout, see 3.1.2 WebView Monitor on
page 16).
On entering in archive mode an additional controls will appear to navigate through the archive (see
figure 17).

To navigate through the archive:
1. Define the time frame step choosing the required one from the Step drop-down list box.
2. Click Back / Forward button.
To export current frame, click Export button.
Warning! In archive mode clicking any of the control buttons stops video playback.
4.4.3 Using the Time-Line

To navigate through the archive the Time-line button can be used (figure 17). On clicking this button
an archive line will appear on the frame (figure 18). So to navigate through the archive, click on the
required timestamp.
Yellow lines show archive intervals, the vertical red one — the current position.
Note: One can change time intervals on the time-line. To increase intervals, left-click on time area. To
decrease intervals, right-click on time area.

4.4.4 Using the Calendar

Calendar is used to position archive on the specified date and time.
To open Calendar window:
2. Click Calendar (see figure 16).
A calendar window with current date and time will appear (see figure. 19).
The following functions are available in calendar:
• Help — view the help on calendar functions
• Previous year — jump to the previous year
• Previous month — jump to the previous month
• Today — jump to the present-day

• Next month — jump to the next month
• Next year — jump to the next year
• Time — setting time (hours and minutes)
To edit (set) time:
1. Select data or time cell.
2. Left-click it to increase (or Shift + click to decrease) its value.
Note: Time parameters (hours and minutes) can be set by another way: drag left mouse button and move
it to the right or left.
Warning! On left-clicking and holding Previous year / Next year buttons (Previous
month / Next month buttons), a drop-down list box of years (months) will appear for faster
selection.
To position to the specific date and time:
1. Set time.
2. Left-click the target day.
Calendar will be closed, archive will be positioned to the nearest video fragment record prior to the
selected date.
If positioning error occurs (selected date/time is out of range) an ARCHIVE ERROR message will
appear. In this case try to choose other date or switch to live video mode and back to archive again.

By http://<server>:<port>/webview/debug.jsp address (where <server> is a name of web
server with WebView installed; <port> is a web server port, defined on Apache Tomcat installation)

By http://<server>:<port>/webview/log.jsp address (where <server> is a name of web server
with WebView installed; <port> is a web server port, defined on Apache Tomcat installation) there is
an event log from video servers.

One can work with WebView web server via Pocket PC.
6.1 Pocket PC Requirements

WebView provides integration with practically all types of devices with one of the following operation
systems:
• Pocket PC 2003
• Windows Mobile 5.0
6.2 Pocket PC Settings

Network connection has to be configured on Pocket PC (via Wi-Fi, GPRS, etc.).
User works with Module via built-in Internet Explorer browser. Additional configuration is not re-
quired.
6.3 Working with WebView via Pocket PC

Run Internet Explorer web browser.
Open http://<server>:<port>/webview/pocket URL (where <server> — name of the web server
with Module installed; <port> — web server port defined on Tomcat installation).
The authorization page will be displayed (see figure 22). Choose the interface language (click the
corresponding link: English or other languages), enter username and password and click Continue
button.
Warning! The process of user authorization runs in accordance with his rights, i. e. access to
cameras archive and PTZ controlling.

On the next window select monitor (choose one from the drop-down list box), and click Show button
(see figure 23).
Note: By monitor selection one chooses cameras and its number that has been defined on Module
installation (by system administrator).

On one-screen Pocket PC there will be video feed from the selected camera (active camera), see figure
24.
Information about current mode and controls will appear around camera frame. This controls are the
following:
• camera selecting drop-down list box (for archive and live video)
• entering and leaving archive mode
• play and pause video feed (for archive and live video)
• PTZ controlling interface

To activate camera, choose it from the Cameras drop-down list box.

To refresh page, click Refresh button.
PTZ controlling interface has the following buttons:
• <, >, ∨, ∧ — move camera to the left, right, up, down correspondingly
• + / – — zoom controlling
• × — stop of PTZ movement
• 1.0 — duration of PTZ movement (select value from drop-down list)
• F+ / F– — manual focus adjustment
• AF — auto focus adjustment
• 1 — camera position preset (select value from drop-down list)
• # — go to specified position preset
To enter in archive mode (if there is one for the chosen camera on a server), click A button. The first
frame of the most recent archive video fragment will be displayed, see figure 25.
To navigate through archive one can use calendar interface (see below) or timestamp button.
To navigate through archive by calendar:
1. Specify date and time of the frame.

2. Left-click Show button.
The archive will be positioned to the nearest video fragment record prior to the selected date.
To leave archive mode, click [A] button.
In archive mode one can pause and resume video also by clicking Pause and Play buttons correspond-

WebView Mobile application is a specialized WebView client. It can be run on mobiles and smart
phones that support Java (J2ME). It has the following functions:
• watching live video from different cameras (there is only one camera on screen)
• real-time PTZ controlling
• watching and navigating through archive
• running macros on server
7.1 Mobile Phone requirements

Before installing the WebView Mobile software review requirements below and make sure that the
mobile comply with them.
• Support of J2ME: MIDP2.0 / CLDC 1.0
• More than 1.5 MB memory free for Java applications and data
• Color screen (16-bit or better)
• Minimal screen resolution — 128 × 128 pixels. On screens with less resolution (120 × 160) sim-
plified output may be used.
Note: During tests the following results has been received:

• Nokia 6233, Nokia 6680, Nokia N80, Samsung D720, Sony-Ericsson K-750i, Sony-Ericsson K-
800i — running and working with the Module is possible
• Sony-Ericsson K-790i — working with Module is possible (additional testing is necessary)
• Siemens CF110 — working with Module is impossible (no Java MIDP 2.0 support)
• Nokia 6170 — working with Module is possible (Java applications have no Internet access, possibly
due to old firmware)
• Motorola RAZR V3 — return application error
7.2 Mobile Settings

To install and configure WebView Mobile on your mobile phone::
1. Open http://<server>:<port>/webview/mobile URL (where <server> — name of the web

server with Module installed; <port> — web server port defined on Tomcat installation) on your
phone.
2. Choose interface language.

3. Left-click a link to download client application.
4. Follow phone instructions to finish installation.
5. Set your phone security policy for the WebView Mobile application to one-time permission for
network connection (consult your phone User Guide for further information).
6. Go to Java application menu and run WebView Mobile application.
7. Go to Settings → Add profile menu. Editing profile window will appear.
8. Type in any meaning string as profile name (Title), path to WebView server (Server) in
http://<server>:<port>/webview format, username (User name) and password.
9. Click OK button to save changes and go back to the main menu.
7.3 Working with WebView Mobile

To connect to WebView server, choose the corresponding profile and click OK button.
On first Internet connection mobile phone will ask a permission for connection. You need to permit
one, otherwise the further WebView Mobile work will be impossible.
Application will connect to WebView server. It will take some time.
To work with cameras, choose Video option.
To run macros on server, choose Actions option (this option can be inactive due to certain WebView
configuration and your user rights).
7.3.1 Working with video

After choosing Video option select monitor from the list and then select camera. Application will
be run in graphics mode where you will be able to work with cameras, PTZ control, watch live and
archive video.
To control WebView elements use five-positioned joystick and two soft-buttons. Their functionality
depends on view mode. A buttons help instruction will appear on the phone screen when pressing call
button.
To enter archive mode, press right soft-button Archive. Camera will turn to archive video viewing
(see figure 26).

To navigate through archive, use calendar (left soft-button Calendar, see figure 27) or timestamp
buttons. Use joystick Up/Down buttons to change timestamp interval; Left/Right — to jump to
previous/next record. To play archive video, press OK joystick button.
To navigate through archive with calendar, use Up/Down buttons to change week; Left/Right — to
change week day.

To return to live video mode from archive mode, press right soft-button Live.
To exit from graphics mode and return to the menu use C button or 0 (zero) button.
7.3.1.1 Working with PTZ

To begin working with PTZ cameras:
1. Select monitor that displays the dome camera.
2. Select the required camera.
3. Press left soft-button to enter into additional options mode. The button will be marked as PTZ
(see figure 28).
To list through an additional options, press left soft-button (Mode).

To swing camera objective, select Pan option. Use joystick for the swing; to stop camera moving —
press OK joystick button.
To zoom/focus camera, select Zoom/Focus option. Use joystick Up/Down buttons to zoom;
Left/Right — to change focus. To stop changing, press OK joystick button.

To work with presets, select Presets option. To list presets use joystick Up/Down buttons. To
go / stop a preset press joystick OK button.
To change PTZ settings, select Settings option. Use joystick Up/Down buttons set the required
value.
7.3.2 Run macros

After choosing Commands option one will see a list of available macros.
To run macro, choose it from the list and press OK button.
There will be notification on command execution on the phone screen. If the command can not be
completed because of some reasons the corresponding error message will appear.

Application
Video stream produced by CCTV cameras can be played back in real time mode with the help of any
third-party media application, which support network and streaming protocols.
To connect to the camera of the security system the following command string is used (for example):
http://host/webview/wms?source=source&command=start_video&format=JPEG_COLOR
&quality=100&ax_disabled&grapherr&start_video_on_start_up, where:
1. User defined parameters:
• host — IP address or network name of the computer where SecurOS WebView Module is
running;
• source — SecurOS’ camera ID;
• format — image format. Can be the following:
a) JPEG_COLOR — (color jpeg image);
b) JPEG_MONO — (black-white jpeg image).
• quality — image quality. Range of values: [1; 100].
2. Parameters with constant values:
• command — mandatory parameter. Must be set to start_video;

• ax_disabled — mandatory parameter (with no value);
• grapherr — mandatory parameter (with no value);
• start_video_on_start_up — mandatory parameter (with no value).
Warning! If start_video_on_start_up parameter is not specified then mediaplayer will

display only the first frame of the video stream.
For example, to play back video with the help of VLC media player it is necessary to enter source
camera address on the Network tab of the Open Media window (see figure 29).

8.1 Configuring Module to Use Third-party Media Player

To configure Module do the following:
1. Open web.xml file (C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.0

\webapps\webview\WEB-INF\web.xml).
Warning! Before editing ensure that Tomcat system service is stopped.
2. Set the true value of the wms parameter in the [env_entry] section.
