Poliomyel S Guillain Barré Syndrome Trauma C Neuri S Acute Childhood Hemiplegia

Differential diagnosis of acute flaccid paralysis can include poliomyelitis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, traumatic neuritis, acute childhood hemiplegia, and transverse myelitis. Each condition has distinct characteristics in terms of onset of paralysis, presence of fever, distribution of paralysis, muscle tone, reflexes, sensation, cranial nerve involvement, autonomic signs, cerebrospinal fluid findings, nerve conduction studies, electromyography findings, and long-term sequelae. Careful consideration of these clinical features is needed to differentiate between these possible causes of acute flaccid paralysis.
