LEVEL OUTCOME: At the end of second year, given a normal and high- risk newborn, child, family, population
group and community in any health care setting. The learners demonstrate safe, appropriate and holistic care
utilizing the nursing process.
Course Outcomes:
1. Apply concepts, theories, and humanities in the formulation and application of appropriate
nursing care to individuals and families during childbearing and childrearing
2. Provide safe, appropriate and holistic care to individuals, families and population group utilizing
the nursing process during childbearing and childrearing

settings, the learners demonstrate safe, appropriate and holistic care utilizing the nursing process and applying
research and evidence-based practice

HEAD NURSING
Week 1

5. Observe the following Head Nursing Techniques & Strategies:
A. Planning
a. Creating clear cut objectives for an 8-hours shift.
b. Facilitate pre, post or bedside conference.
c. Identify specific areas of importance of in-patient care.
B. Organizing
a. Coordinate with appropriate authorities as needed.
b. Work closely with head nurse, staff, and Clinical instructor.
c. Prepare and coordinate patient’s assignment with Clinical Instructor and Head nurse.
d. Show effective time management.

C. Directing
a. Leads group in performing direct & indirect patient law activities.
b. Makes sure that doctor’s orders are carried out.
c. Update patient care and treatment data in Kardex.
D. Controlling
a. Monitor patient care and diagnostics managements.
b. Performs regular bedside routine rounds.
c. Reports feedback of patient care to head nurse and Clinical Instructor.
d. Evaluate patient care with the group.
