Course Name:Radio Communication

Objective: upon completion of the course candidates are able to understand Radio
Communication and their functionality.
Intended Audience: telecom engineers, technical technician and those whores involved radio
communication technologies.

Course Outline:

 Principles of technical solutions of selected parts of the wireless communication systems.

 Basic principles of coding. Theorem on source coding and channel coding.
Methods for optimization of signal transmission. Interleaving, equalization, diversity
reception.
 The communication channel and a wireless communication network
 Spectrum management. Radio Regulations. National authorities and spectrum
management.
 Propagation and noise. Models for long-distance signal propagation and propagation of
signal in built-up area.
 The principles of antennas. The antenna as part of a wireless communication system.
Model of the wireless communication link.
 The principles of analogue radio communication systems, AM, FM, RDS, NMT.
 The principles of digital radio communication systems, DECT, GSM, UMTS, WIFI,
