Open Wound Drains fluid from the wound onto a gauze bandage
or into a stoma bag. It has been widely applied in Penrose.

PENROSE DRAIN

Indication
Penrose drains are intended to be used in superficial wounds. It depends on gravitational forces, capillary action and overflow for
wounded fluid drainage. These tubes help doctors/nurses observe infection, leakage, and hemorrhage via the color, volume, and
density of wound, and also enable to converge interstitial fluids, and wash out infection fluid, or suction over-fluids.

Application
The Penrose drain lets blood and other fluids move out of the area of your surgery.
The blood and fluids are released outside of your body onto a dressing (gauze bandage).
This keeps fluids from collecting under your incision and causing infection.

Indication
Reservoirs are intended to be used for post-surgery for collecting the exudate in the closed system, to drain over-fluids of wound,
prevent wound from swelling, and avoid cross-infection, by so doing to shorten the recovering time.

•An easy- clip is provided to attach to bed, wheelchair, or IV stand for mobility.

Indication
The most common includes pneumothoraces, complicated parapneumonic effusions or empyemas, hemothoraces, bedside
pleurodesis, and following cardio-thoracic surgery or thoracoscopic procedures to allow for appropriate lung re-expansion.
