and protect
Using high-quality chemicals is important to ensure maximum performance, wear protection and
reliability. That’s why Volvo Penta offers a range of high-quality products, specifically developed
and tested to meet our exact specifications and stringent requirement – making them the best
choice for maintenance and repair of Volvo Penta products.
This catalog is a summary of our range of chemicals and contains information about
specifications, pack sizes and part numbers. For more detailed information about fields of
application, please see service bulletin/service information and Operator’s Manuals.
Note! All handling of chemicals entails health and environmental risk. Waste chemicals should be handled as environmen-
tally hazardous waste. They may contain substances such as lead, nickel and copper, that may cause cancer and impurities.
Ensure that waste chemicals is disposed of responsibly and according to the local regulations.

Oils
Volvo Penta
oils
We invest significant resources together with the Volvo Group to develop high-performance oils.
And the reason is simple. As engines continue to evolve, with increased efficiency, more precise
technology and tighter tolerances, it leaves less space between components, placing greater
demands on oil performance than ever before.
Volvo Penta oils are specifically formulated for the exact specifications of Volvo Penta marine
and industrial engines. They are extensively tested and approved according to our high-quality
demands and include powerful additive technology which are individually selected to optimize
performance, reduce fuel consumption and provide maximum wear protection.
Note! Please always consult the operator’s manual for detailed information about oil quality, oil quantity and oil
change interval for the specific product.

Oils analysis
Oil analysis for
better control
Volvo Penta oil analysis delivers a comprehensive diagnosis of the engine’s condition. Oil analysis
provides information such as water and fuel content, viscosity, dirt, and the amount of metal
particles in the oil from component wear.
Regular use of Volvo Penta Oil analysis, provide an excellent planning tool for better control.
Thanks to early warnings provided by oil analysis, preventive maintenance and component changes
can be planned in advance, thus avoiding unplanned downtime and reducing repair costs.
• Makes trends visible and provides early warnings for abnormal wear
• High-quality analysis done by accredited laboratories using specified limits values defined by Volvo Penta

Coolant
Volvo Penta
coolants
Genuine Volvo Penta coolants prevent freezing and overheating while providing maximum component protection.
They are specifically formulated to meet the exact specifications of Volvo Penta engines and include powerful addi-
tive technology to prevent internal engine component degradation and thereby optimize engine life.
• Compatible with and protects all materials in the engine’s cooling system
• Less impact on the environment, does not contain any amines or phosphates
Note! Volvo Penta provides two types of coolant: Volvo Penta coolant (green) and Volvo Penta coolant VCS
(yellow). They are formulated for different engine types and contain different types of additives that are not
compatible. Therefore they should never be mixed. Always keep using the same Volvo Penta coolant that was
delivered with engine.

Coolant
Volvo Penta coolant VCS (Yellow)
This coolant is yellow in color. It is an organic additive technology (OAT) type of coolant
specifically developed for the material used in newer generation of Volvo Penta
engines. It prevent freezing and overheating while providing maximum component
protection. Does not contain any nitrite, amine, phosphate or silicate. Does not require
coolant filter. 4-year change interval.
Note! The Volvo Penta coolant VCS (Yellow) must not be mixed with Volvo Penta
coolant (Green), nor be used in combination with coolant filter. See operators manual.

Lubricants
Water resistant grease
Volvo Penta water resistant grease is designed to provide excellent adhesion, water
resistance and load-carrying properties, as well as long-term protection against
corrosion. Itis a multi-purpose premium grease and is highly recommended for
greasing joints and propeller shafts, folding propellers and all other propeller
components.
Bearing grease
Bearing grease is a lithium complex mineral oil based grease with EP additives. The
grease is recommended as a universal grease for all ball and roller bearings which are
used at both high and low running temperatures.
Volvo Penta bearing grease has good thermal stability, which means that it can
withstand the high temperature peaks which can occur in bearings during heavy,
long-term braking. The grease also has good rust-prevention performance.
