Meet the family of


Nellyann, a single mom having twins-Jonathan and Bea

N: You can now go to your room after you off the TV

J:Yes mom

B: But ma!I have to do my nail polish.

N; Go to your room Bea,it's already late

J: But wait, do you feel it?

B: What?(irritated voice)

N: Stop whining Bea,will you?

And then suddenly the tables were moving and then it moves rapidly(they panic and started to cry)

B: Ma?it's earthquake again (sobbing)

N: Yeah, it is occuring in our place consecutively and it is very alarming. I've been thinking if we can sell
our house.

J: But why?

B: Safety first brother

The next day Nellyann decided to talk to a geologist about their problem.

In the restaurant.

N: Hi,good day Mr.Caner

G: Hello Ms.Reyes, you can take your sit.(pointing at the chair)

N: Yeah!I have this very important matter to discuss with you Me.Caner

G: Well,I know that you need my suggestion regarding the place that you need to buy Am I right?

N: You're right. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

G: We actually need to consider the fault line. The definition of a fault line is a break or fracture in the
ground that occurs when the Earth's tectonic plates move or shift and are areas where earthquakes are
likely to occur. A break where the Earth's tectonic plates shifted that is a likely site of an earthquake is
an example of a fault line.

N:I don't really understand that (laughing)

G:Haha!Well I might give you another information.All faults are related to the movement of Earth's
tectonic plates. The biggest faults mark the boundary between two plates.Plate boundaries are always
growing and changing, so these faults develop kinks and bends as they slide past each other, which
generates more faults.

N: That makes me so dumb right now.I don't get it.(Shaking her head)

G: You just need to listen to my suggestion and I hope it will help you.

N: Do you know a real state agent?

G: Well,I know someone. I just need to beep him.Just wait here (he leaves and contacted the realtor)

After a while he came back

G: He needs your contact number.He will set a meeting with you.

N: I'm really thankful Mr.Caner. So can we order now?

G: Yeah!

The next day: Meeting with the real state agent

N: I am interested in buying a home and would like to know what is involved.

R: You have come to the right place. When were you interested in buying a house?

N: Did Me.Caner have you a briefing about what I want?

R: Yes, he did.And we have a perfect place with you.Well,I'm just waiting for my partner,our engineer
who will plan the house.

N: Oww!That's good at least I can talk to him personally

R: There he is( pointing at the door)

E: Hello,nice to meet you Ms.Reyes


N:Nice to meet you too

E: For your safety, we recommend a place that is not prone to earthquake.

N:Thank you Engr.

E: I'll just email to you my plans and you just need to choose your preference.

R: He's a good catch Ms Reyes, the tag line of their company focuseson the safety and protection of
their client. I can assure you that.

E: Then,I need to go.I have another appointment after this.See you.

R: I would like to meet with you tomorrow so you can check the property, and then you and I can figure
out a contract.

N: (Shake hands)Thank you.

Earthquake is a life threatening event that responsible for the huge damage to the living and non-living
beings. Earlier, it was quite hard to imagine the intensity of the earthquake before its occurrence.
However, now-a-days, it has become easy to estimate the magnitude and intensity of earthquake
because of the instrumental advancement in the world

Large earthquakes may destroy things to a great extent as they take down huge buildings, cause injury
and thus death of people. There are various scales used to measure the intensity of shaking and the
magnitude of an earthquake.

It is a very serious challenge for the people's lives, safety as well as earthquake engineering as they can
engulf coastal areas, swipe away whole city, damage houses and many more. It is sad to say that it
cannot be prevented however people can be warned through various warning systems to run away and
save lives.
