State of the Art Analytical Soil and Plant Laboratory Facilities:

Challenges:

 Additionally, the high population density and urbanization of agricultural lands has
resulted in:
 Limited land availability for agricultural production
 This also lead to faster soil and plant nutrient deficiency
 The soils and plants analytical results are not standardized in the national
research systems
 Therefore, it is important to use standardized operation procedures to
determine the plant and soil status, as well as, the fertilizer nutrient
composition

Opportunities/IITA Intervention:

 We have also established state of the art analytical soil and plant laboratory. This
offers sound quality assurance systems to the regional laboratories.
 It also provides frequent soil sampling and testing services to small, medium and
large crop growers, fertilizer companies, NGO and government bodies.
 We, build the capacity of the National Research Institutions
 The laboratory is positioned to benefit from, and contribute to international research,
attracting further supports and investment in this area.
 The facility also allows the development of a long-term analytical database
supporting further research for efficiency and sustainability.
 To improve quality management systems, we have established links with
advanced laboratories internationally.
