MPVL was established during 1937. It was converted into public sector undertaking during 1947.

MPVL is the Manufacturer & supplier of decorative paints, industrial paints, thinners, polishes,
primers, sealing wax.

Specialists in manufacturing & supply of indelible ink (voter's ink) for all the parliamentary, assembly
and local bodies elections in India since 1962.MPVL has been supplying this indelible ink to various
countries like Turkey, Nepal, Papua-new-guinea, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Singapore
etc.MPVL is one of the profit making and dividend declared company in karnataka among public
sector units

At present, the company is manufacturing all kinds of Decorative paints, Industrial paints, Polish and

The prominent customers of the company are M/s KAVIKA, KSRTC, MEI, BEML., Madras Port
Trust, other Government Departments, Public sector undertakings as well as some of the private
sector companies like M/s Automotive Axels, RPG Telecom, Sugar Factories in Karnataka.

In addition, the company has been manufacturing and supplying Indelible Ink (Voters Ink) used for
all the General Elections in India from the past five decades.  The company also is being exporting
the Indelible Ink to various countries like,

SAFETY MEASURES OF THE COMPANY.

The company has provided many safety measures for their employees. It has provided hand gloves,
helmets, spectles, anti-fire and anti-heat gowns to its employees, so that they are not exposed to
work related health hazards.

INDELIBLE INK:

MPVL is the only paint manufacturing unit in public sector and thus it has a large market available in
the Government establishments . The main customer for the indelible ink is Election Commission of
India and some other foreign countries like Nepal, Combodia, Turkey , South Africa, Nigeria etc.,

 Ours is Government company having exclusive licence to manufacture and supply `Voters
Ink' called `Indelible Ink ' eversince 1962.
 We have been authorized by the Election Commission of India to supply the Ink to all the
Parliamentary, Assembly and Civic Bodies Polls in India.
 Eversince India gained independence during 1947, nearly 13 General Elections held in
India which is largest democratic country in the world. Our Ink has tested nearly 6000
million voters (Six thousand million voters) over the six decades.
 Apart from domestic trade, our Ink has also tried and used successfully on more than 400
million (Four hundred million) persons over 60 years of proven performance, (ie., overseas
Market)
 We have been exporting this Ink to Ghana-Turkey, Papua-New-Guinea, Fiji Island,
Malaysia, Singapore, Nepal, Nigeria, South AFrica, Canada, Cambodia, Mangolia, Burkina
Faso, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Togo, Benin, Lesotho, everesince 1978.
 As you aware, our Ink is the first choice for Election purpose in order to ensure that a
person can exercise his/her right to vote in an election and to prevent the
fraudulent/multiple voting by the same person or persons.

DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAMMES

1. Modernization at plant level in phased manner through automation is being taken as a first
step in order to increase the production out-put in shortest duration, a machine called
ATTRITOR has been installed at the coast of Rs. 2.00 lakhs and being put to use. This
Machine was inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister Sr. R.V. Desponde, Large & Medium Scale
Industries, Government of Karnataka in the month of June 2002.

2. The Company has obtained ISO-9001/2000 Certification in the month of July-2002.

3. The Company has appointed a Paint Technologist on contract basis to ensure quality of
products.

4. Broadcasting the marketing network to neighboring states. The company is exploring all
possibility of exporting the product to other countries more and more....

5. In the month of August 2002 the company employees has installed Sr. Nalwadi Krishna
Raja Wadeyar Statue in a factor premises in due respect to founder of the company. Entire
expenditure will be met out of contributions from all the Employees.

6. The Company Sales Show Room which are situated in Bangalore and Mysore are
renovated and modernized for improving the sales.

7. The company has proposed to extend its market network throughout State and to the
neighboring states also.

PRODUCTION PROCEDURE OF MPVL
The production of the company mainly depends on the raw materials purchased from most of the neighboring states a
as North Indian States. For example, chemicals required for production are bought from Maharashtra, Oil and pigment
purchased from Puna, resins from Indore and extendrs from Uttar Pradesh and so on.

Before the production starts, the raw material purchased will be tested by the company in their own lab for quality
certification. After testing, the raw-materials will be sent to the raw material stores and then to production unit. The raw
material is issued in FIFO method (First In First Out) and the finished goods will be issued in LIFO method (Last In Firs

The production is carried on in varnish unit, paint unit, powder distemper unit; oil bound distemper unit, sealing wax un
ink unit. The production of the products depends on the demand from the buyers. Basically the demand is from the ind
side.

In 1971, the company extended a joint venture agreement with AIK, as vast German company. This German Compan
provided technical assistance in manufacturing of sophisticated insulating varnishes which are used in the manufactur
electronic equipment and machinery sales as generation transformer etc. But, the demand for the above products has
considerably declined in recent days
.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

The company is well equipped with R&D Development facilities. Though no new equipments were added during the pr
financial year, every effort was made to improve the quality of the products manufactured.

BUDGET OF MPVL

The various budget prepared by the company are sales budget which is budgeted to Rs. 600 lakhs including indelible
Rs. 300 lakhs. The company has overdraft facilities upto Rs. 60 lakhs in State Bank of Mysore. Purchase budget is 60
sales i.e., Rs. 360 lakhs.

FUTURE PLANS OF MPVL

1. Planning to go for automation in its production process.


2. Planning to target the neighboring southern states of India.
3. Planning to acquire national test house Certificate for its products.
4. Planning to strengthen its marketing division. For this, MPVL has recruited many persons who are specialized
marketing field in order to increase the demand for its product.
5. In order to create demand for its products, it is planning to advertise its products in Radio, Television, and
Newspapers.
6. Planning to improve the quality of its products and production techniques. For this purpose, MPVL is producin
washable distemper by using a new technique called Edge runner technique. The company has installed sma
capacity units to produce some materials, which the company used to depend on outsider for the production.
7. MPVL is planning to setup soft water plant which is used as a raw material for water based paint and ink.

Recommended Uses : A water thinned flat finish paint, meant for interior use on maso

consistency. Apply minimum 2 coats to get good finish. Allow 3
hours between two coats. If necessary primer should be used
finish AWD.
