INTRODUCTION

This article was simplify about “Towards strengthening the Development of Women
Entrepreneurship in Malaysia” by Wendy Ming Yen Teoh and Siong Choy Chong. Based on
this article, it analyse the issues related to women entrepreneurship as it increase in Malaysia.
Nowadays, most of the women begins their business with small and medium enterprises
(SMEs) then they develop it to become a successful business. The small and medium
enterprises (SMEs) has its own policies to make sure women entrepreneurship to be wider in
businesses. The beginning of small business could increase the number of women
entrepreneurships (Teoh & Chong, 2014).

The development women entrepreneurship could make us identify the potential women
than man. Entrepreneurship play biggest role in industrial development. As an entrepreneurship
is not piece of cake where you need to have wide mindset. Entrepreneurship need to have their
own creativity, work hard, be patient and not give up easily. If an entrepreneurship did not have
these kind of roles, it is hard for them to become a successful entrepreneurship. The
entrepreneurship spirit must applied in yourself as it might guide to long-term business and
employment creation.

Increase the number of women entrepreneurship is one of ways to overcome the

problems happen toward Low-Income Households (LIH) of NKRA. According to the citation
by (Arshad, Ismail, Ahmad, & Mutalib, 2015), there are only 37% women want to be involved
in entrepreneurial jobs. In Malaysia, the percentage range of men are still above women in
entrepreneurial jobs. According to (Muhyiddin Yassin, 2010), he announced that RM4.7
million grant given to the 946 women entrepreneurs in Malaysia. Women entrepreneurs are
known as special and appreciate them on develop their business. This is the reason to
strengthening the development of women entrepreneurship.

1
FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

The purpose of this article is to recognize the structural problems related to women’s
entrepreneurship as it is focused on the Malaysian SMEs (Teoh & Chong, 2014). It is
eventually also intends to formulate several approaches and enlargement for women
entrepreneurial. This article also focus on the acceptance of gender which related to women’s
entrepreneurship (Teoh & Chong, 2014). This is the reason why policy measurement needed
as it for women entrepreneurship support. Besides that, there is a chance given for women
involve widely in entrepreneurship, not only in our country but also other countries as well. In
the past, men was given the right to become an entrepreneurs.

Women are encouraged to start their own business eventhough they are unemployed or
employed, it is not a hindrance to have their own business. Nevertheless, women entrepreneurs
are starting to establish behavioural expectations that differentiate them in an effort to build an
image with their own property. Both of these innovations build a whole new competitive field
as women entrepreneurs to fight for the same market prospects as their male peers. The
important to publish about women entrepreneurs, the Department of Women Development and
the Malaysian Trust Initiative (Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia) established skills training and
entrepreneurship services to create more reliable and successful women entrepreneurs (Teoh
& Chong, 2014).

The method of this article is about issues that affecting women entrepreneurship growth
in Malaysia. There are many issues related women entrepreneurship such as cultural barriers,
gender inequality, weak social and business networking, few laws to support working families
as well as domestic help and home-based childcare. In addition, the event of International
Women’s Day (HWA) will celebrate on March 8 every year according to its own way (Karim,
2015). The main aim of International Women’s Day is to recognize women regardless of
religion, culture, race, language, politics and economy. Furthermore, the issue of few laws to
support working families. There are no specific regulations expressly referring to childcare
subsidies and Temporary Assistance for Needy Family (TANF) programme to help women
entrepreneurs in Malaysia (Teoh & Chong, 2014). This issue become a challenge for women
entrepreneurs especially for low-income single mothers. A women that manage micro-
businesses really need assistance and support for their business.

2
The strength and weaknesses.
Women that create or operates their own business as they believe their talents and
capabilities. In my opinion, to become a successful women entrepreneur, believe in patient as
it is the key lead to entrepreneurship. The profit of business really takes time. For example,
promoting online the products and services need skills such as writing and know how to use
social media. As an entrepreneur, the results or profits by promoting it through online have to
wait until the products and services get expose to the customers.

Other than that, the strength of this article based on my opinion is able to determine the
purpose of the topic. There are many sources can be found due to the purpose of the article.
Most of the information in this article are cited by the authors. This could easily make us
understand well on the purpose or aims of the topic related. Furthermore, another strength of
this article is the look of this entire body of work on a topic. The content in this article can be
used to introduce and describe the ideas. The solution on the issues of women entrepreneurs
are stated as well as the ideas in this article.

In addition, my opinion due to the weaknesses of this article, there is also difficulty in
evaluating the different qualitative and quantitative results. This is because the information are
based on the issues and challenging of women entrepreneurs. This evaluations really consume
more time to choose whether it is qualitative or quantitative results.

Lastly, based on my opinion, the weaknesses is lack of information due to the method
used in this article. It is not describe well according to the types of method used in this article.
The method was focus on the issues as a women entrepreneurs and overuse of the issues in the
article. The method is important to ensure the readers understand on the things or information
to convey.

3
CONCLUSION

As for the conclusion, this article focused towards strengthening the development of
women entrepreneurships in Malaysia. The issues are some of challenges faced by the women
entrepreneurs. Most of the government are searching for solution to increase the women
entrepreneur growth in Malaysia. This the goals of the country to make sure the numbers of
Malaysian women increase in business. The problems or difficulty of women to become
successful entrepreneurships should be solve as because other than men, women are also
deserve to be part of entrepreneur too. The policy of women entrepreneurships are stated by
the government so that there are less issues to look down on women entrepreneur. Women
entrepreneurs also could form the successful economy in Malaysia.
