DETERMINATION OF TRAP POINT IDENTIFICATION

PURPOSE: Avoid material mix up between customers, different parts, similar parts mix up during heat
treatment.

Scope : Applicable to all heat treatment process of valve steel.

TRAP POINTS STAGE;

1.0 INWARD INSPECTION:

 Avoid material mix up between customers and different parts. Part identification Tags to be placed
on with the trays/bins/fixtures
 Keeping the inward inspection near the out word material ( post heat treatment)
 Mix up of different material : check to eliminate Two different material or two different heat no.
or two different size of same material

2.0 JIGGING: Based on quantity

If quantity is low, one layer with one part other layers with other customer parts wiring is done
accordingly.

3.0 Loading :

 Loading more than the designed capacity – have a check list and record the load weight
 Improper jigging - verification of jigging as the part of Autonomous maintenance check list .
 Pokayoke at door to avoid wrong loading.

4.0 UNLOADING:

 After Heat treatment process unload the parts and put it in respective customer supplied
trolley and other customer parts put in separate respective trolley and put the Tag on the
trolley FOR INSPECTION with customer name.
5.0 Quench Tank

 Parts fallen inside the quench tank.


 Two different parts from the quenching tank – verification before next process
 Quenching qty and level - verification and record in AMS

6.0 INSPECTION:

 Skipping of inspection : 100 present shall be inspected the parts make a tick mark on the part
and put it respective customer supplied trolley, put the Accepted label and send it to the
Despatch area.

5.0 DESPATCH:

 Mix up due to process and un process material: Receipt area and dispatch area are at
different location . Accepted and moved before inspection - Verify the Tag and Despatch the
inspected material along with PDI report.
