Food Panda and Grab Food is two leading food delivery services in our
country based on Kantar TNS research. Food Panda was launch earlier than Grab
Food, it has been operating in our country since June 2014 and it is part of the Food
Panda group, while the Grab Food is relatively the rising star in food delivery service
it was only started its operation in November 2018.
In terms of quality, I already ordered several times in Grab Food App and
Food Panda and I can’t tell any differences with their food quality after arriving. It
was both hot and well packaged maybe because in my area fast food chains and
restaurant is near and it only takes couple of minutes to arrive. But some restaurant
or fast food chain was not available in Grab that is available in Food Panda but as I
research Food Panda only has 2,500 restaurants partners while Grab Food has
7,000.
Food Panda Delivery time was way longer than Grab Food I can attest to that
I already experience an delivery from Food Panda that exceeds 30 minutes from the
expected arrival time that they said. While Grab Food usually arrives earlier or
exactly to the app shown arrival time, I already search about the average delivery
time of Food Panda and Grab Food and it shows that the average delivery time of
Food Panda is 1-2 hours while Grab Food delivery time estimate from 20-30
minutes. Maybe the factor that affects the Food Panda delivery time is not all their
driver was using motorcycle, because some Food Panda drivers are using bike
making the usual arrival time longer. The Food Panda deliver availability is only
limited from 10am – 11pm while Grab Food is available 24/7 as long as there is a
restaurant or fast food open.
In this one I think the Food Panda has better price rate than Grab Food
because Grab food Rate is fixed at 49 PHP regardless of restaurant and location but
Food Panda usually don’t have any delivery charge. But in some instances Food
panda’s delivery rates vary according to location and restaurant, though it’s usually
cheaper than Grab Food
In conclusion even though Food Panda has no to minimal delivery charge,

Grab food still wins in other category delivery time/ availability, Arrival time and
Communication with their drivers. However, it’s also clear that the two most
popular food delivery platforms in the Philippines have a lot of room for
improvement. And they are very essential in this time of pandemic because people
has very limited way of preparing and buying food outside of their house and this
Delivery services is very useful to have a meal while keeping your family members
safe.
