Scheme 3: Cyclopalladated Complexes With Optical Resolution of Amino Acids

1. The document discusses cyclopalladated complexes used for optical resolution of amino acids. It shows complexes containing ferrocene, palladium, and different R groups bonded to an amine. 2. It then discusses how ferrocene-containing molecules can modulate anion-receptor interactions through oxidation, allowing electrostatic interactions. Cooperation between ion-pairing and hydrogen bonding enables binding of anionic substrates. 3. Finally, it discusses how ferrocene compounds have potential for second order non-linear optics due to metal-ligand charge transfer bands in the visible region and ability to increase electron delocalization in pi-substituted systems.

Normal ferrocene containing secondary amides have no permanently electrostatic
interaction with guest anionic species and their complexes forms have lower stability with
similarly to their cobaltocenium. However, the anion-receptor interactions can be modulated via
oxidation to the ferricenium cation, at which point electrostatic interactions can be “switched on”
[102]. The oxidation of ferrocene in its neighbor group of the amide increases the acidity of the
amide proton, making hydrogen-bonding stronger. Thus there have cooperation between ion-
paring and Hydrogen-bonding interactions [103]. Ferrocene containing molecules , which have
the ability to skill and electrochemically understanding of anionic substrates range from the
relatively simple ones first designed by Beer and his research team [104] (Figure 1.8&1.9 ), to
larger, more complex molecules, such as ferrocene-metalloporphyrin receptors, which bind
anions via a Lewis acidic zinc center [105]. Dendrimers containing up to eighteen electron
ferrocene units have been prepared [106], as have lower-rim polysubstituted ferrocene-
containing calixarenes [107], with the aim of increasing its ion selectivity.

stems for its potential application in the field of optical computing, optical information
processing and telecommunications. In above materials, there is no linear relationship between
the applied electric field, the induced dipole moment, providing the field have of high enough
intensity i.e. lasers. Large hyper polarizabilities have associated with molecules, which have
large differences between the ground state and excited state. It has small energy gap of dipole
moment in between the ground and excited state have associated with high intensities [108].
chromophores in Organic molecules which have fulfill all these criteria called as push pull
systems with donor acceptor moieties separated by conjugated bridges, Ex. (E)-4-(methoxy)-
4’-nitrostilbene [109].
In the last eight years, there has been less work on ferrocene compounds and synthesis
of various types of derivatives. The substantial amount of work will be carried out on
molecules incorporating a ferrocene group with potential Non linear optics responses.
Ferrocene compounds have suitable to function as a donor in these materials, owing to the
presence of metal- ligand charge transfer bands in the visible region, with relatively low
oxidation-reduction potential and to increase an electron delocalization in pi-substituted
systems.
