Shuhda History
On 6th September, 1965, Squadron Leader Shabbir Alam Siddiqi who within space of
few hours piloted three B-57 night bombing missions against Indian Air Force station at
Jamnagar. Squadron Leader Shabbir Alam Siddiqi had the option to take break and rest
after completing two bombing missions but he chose to fly third mission after taking little
break. Squadron Leader Shabbir Alam Siddiqi and his navigator Squadron Leader
Muhammad Aslam Qureshi embraced shahadat on third mission flown by Squadron
Leader Shabbir Alam Siddiqi. The proud “Haider” sacrificed his life on the very first
day of war leaving a legacy of dedication beyond the call of duty which remains a
hallmark of the PAF.
On 6th September, 1965, Squadron Leader Muhammad Aslam Qureshi being the
navigator to Squadron Leader Shabbir Alam Siddiqi during B-57 night bombing missions
against Indian Air Force station at Jamnagar. He embraced shahadat when his aircraft
was hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed near IAF Base Jamnagar. He shall remain a
great source of motivation for PAF future generations.
On 06 July, 1989 Flg Off Khalid, was detailed to carrying out an Airfield strike mission
on Mirage aircraft S. No 79-453. During the exit phase after attack, the mishap aircraft
crashed near masroor.
On 09 June, 1991 , Flg Off S Hamid Ali, was completing his routine training mission, on
Mirage aircraft S No 79-452, While rolling out on finals, his aircraft crashed near
undershoot of the runway due compressor stall.
On 29 January, 1992 Flt Lt Abid Ali, was detailed to fly an FCF Mission on Mirage
Aircraft S No 79-441 and after 19 minutes of flight, mishap aircraft engine developed a
technical fault and as a result mishap aircraft crashed 3 Nm North of Kila.

On 22 August, 1993 Sqn Ldr Masood was on night check out mission on Mirage Aircraft
S No 70-305. Due to spatial disorientation aircraft crashed after takeoff in vicinity of
Masroor base

On 19 October, 2011 Wg Cdr Asim Paracha was on routine training mission of air
combat on Mirage Aircraft S No 79-457. During the mission his aircraft developed a
flight control problem and despite several attempts failed to respond as per desired
control input . As a result Mishap aircraft crashed at 350 deg / 55 NM from PAF Base
Masroor .
On 03 June, 2014 Sqn Ldr Umair Elahi was on routine mission on Mirage Aircraft S No
04-003. After 20 Mints of Flight, while going around from base turn, his aircraft engine
malfunctioned and did not recover. With an attempt to save precious lives on ground,
SL Umair embraced shahadat.

In Opening days of Indo Pak War of 1965 , Fl Lt Akhtar Volunteered for a daring mission
, to fly over India to test the night interception capabilities, no doubt a risky mission,
flying at high level, clearly visible on enemy radar, unarmed and challenging the enemy
to ‘Shoot if you Can’. He with his pilot Sqn Ldr M Akhtar Bukhari, took off from Mauripur
in the middle of the night, flew the assigned route over India on an un armed B-57 and
landed Back Safely at Peshawar.
On the night of 10 September, 1965, he was detailed with Sqn Ldr Rais Rafi to fly
a night close support mission near Samba in Sialkot sector, where it was reported
that the enemy was concentrating to attack and capture Sialkot. The crew took off
the middle of night from Peshawar As they approached the target, they realized
that it would be difficult to locate enemy concentration in pitch-dark night. Akhtar
come up with the idea of using the flares to light up the area and do area bombing
to harass the enemy throughout the night, thus not allowing them to concentrate
for the next day’s attack on Pak Army troops throughout the night, by one by one
B-57 arrived to the misery of enemy. Thus, PAF played a major role in the battle of
Sialkot and prevented the enemy advance toward Sialkot.
