1.1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

1.2 Brief description of the of problem or opportunity

The reason why this IT project management is chosen because we want to provide a
service that will help facilitate user to find a parking at the I-City parking lot.

The newly-opened I-City has caught people’s attention and the number of people
coming to the place has increased tremendously day by day. These brings problem
at the place in terms of finding parking for their vehicle. Visitors are unable to find
available parking space at each of the level, unable to know how many parking
spaces available and these produce another problem in that indoor parking lot, which
is congestion.

So with the introduction of the Car Park’s Available Lot Parking Detector Sensor
System being installed in the parking area, this will help facilitate user or visitor to find
and easy locating available parking space at the I-City. There is a board that will tell
how many parking space available at each level and which parking space is
available.

1.3 Brief description of organization’s goal and strategy

The organization’s goals are:

 To install Car Park’s Available Lot Parking Detector Sensor System at I-City
 To sense which parking lot is available or occupied by the parking’s sensor light
indicator
 To inform visitors how many parking spaces available at each parking lot’s level.
 To help visitor in finding parking space easier and thus avoid congestion and
save time.

The organization’s strategies are:

 To identify the problem
 To get the approval from the I-City in order to install the parking sensor system
 To plan the right solution to fit the situation

1.4 Brief description of project’s MOV and how it ties to the organizational goal
and strategy

Year MOV
1 10% return on investment of I-City
2 30% return on investment of I-City

1.5 Brief description of each option or alternative analyzed

1.1.1 Alternative A:

Installation of install Car Park’s Available Lot Parking Detector Sensor

System, together with the information board at the parking entrance to

inform visitors which level has parking available.

1.1.2 Alternative B:

Installation of install Car Park’s Available Lot Parking Detector Sensor

System, together without the information board at the parking

entrance. This is to cut budget if needed.

1.6 Brief explanation of which alternative is being recommend and why

Of all the options, Alternative A is highly recommended to the client due to

the efficiency of the system that is able to inform visitors that which parking level is

available. This will save time and avoid congestion in that parking area.

2.1 Background

Smart Thumb Sdn Bhd has established in 21 October 2000 at Shah Alam,
Selangor by Prof. Dr Khairul Syukri Mohd Redzuan, and the owner of the company.
This company is developed for the purpose to give the best problem solution in
technology to the enterprise environment, such as parking issue.

The available lot detector, as an important part of the sub-systems of spaces

detecting in parking guidance system, is a kind of non-contact measuring instrument,
installed in the appropriate parking lot, using of ultrasonic reflex-reflective echo
testing the distance from the detector to the object, which to determine whether there
is available parking space or not. It provides available lot information for the parking
guidance system.

During ten years in this IT industry, our company have 5 branches where the HQ is at
Shah Alam and the others at Teluk Intan, Ipoh, Kuantan, Melaka and Arau.

Currently, our staffs have reached about 386 people (approximately) including
technician, financial, operator, human resourse and etc.

2.2 Current situation

Our company wants to collaborate with UiTM Shah Alam to install fiber optic
in order to increase the speed of network connection. UiTM has several systems to
handle student and lecturer information, academic portal and activities. The
increasing number of users that used the system makes the server become burden
at the crucial time such as course registration, course validation, check examination
result and etc. The system used in UiTM is managed by Pusat Sistem Maklumat
Bersepadu (PSMB).

do within the time, budget and cost

ii) Provide value to the organization – Our company has decided to focus on the
installation of fiber optic within the resources and time. However, if there is
some kind of opportunity come across within the project development and it
give the value to us, then we will take it.

iii) Be agreed on – The meeting will be organized with the admin of UiTM Shah
Alam to explain the further process of fiber optic installation and also explain
our goals and aims to be agreed on. When the both agree on the proposed
project, the schedule, budget and cost will determine.

3.0 ALTERNATIVE

Alternative A: Sensor with the information board

1. Non-contact the detected vehicle when measuring;

2. Adjustable detection sensitivity, to adapt to different vehicle height;
3. The use of ultrasonic detection methods will not be as infrared, microwave,
and other ways to detect vulnerable to external interference;
4. Can be flexibly set detection range, when the vehicle in place to measure the
distance when the distance is less than the default, LED signal produced and
via board interface to send the information of vehicles in place to the lane
controller;
5. It uses board interface, simple interface, high stability, may be secondary
development;
6. No part of movement, simple installation, simple commissioning
7. Maintenance convenience
8. High-precision measurements;
9. Green environmental protection, no pollution.

Alternative B: Sensor without the information board

1. Non-contact the detected vehicle when measuring;

2. Adjustable detection sensitivity, to adapt to different vehicle height;
3. The use of ultrasonic detection methods will not be as infrared, microwave,
and other ways to detect vulnerable to external interference;
4. Can be flexibly set detection range, when the vehicle in place to measure the
