Manufacturer’s address

PLANT MODEL Model number

FREQUENCY Mains power supply frequency

SUPPLY Mains power supply voltage

Serial number

Date of manufacture

The CE mark signifies that the product conforms to the requirements in the European Council Directive

Guarantee

Millennium’s Simplex & Duplex AGSS Plants are guaranteed for one year, subject to the recommended maintenance being
correctly carried out by a competent person. All products are manufactured under conditions of controlled cleanliness from high
quality materials and all internal components are degreased prior to assembly.

1 Description
The Plants consists of:
• An internally coupled Electric Motor and Side Channel Vacuum Pumps mounted on a steel Chassis
• Thermal Overloads provide the Plants Motors with over current protection, the Vacuum Switches monitor
the Plant Pressure Status
• Flexible Connections on both Inlet and Exhaust
• Anti-Vibration Mounts on Motor / Pump Units
• Inlet and exhaust pipe work pre-piped on Duplex models
• Copper Pipeline connections for both Inlet and Exhaust
• Pre-Set Vacuum Relief Valve and Low Pressure Sensor(s)
• Highly visible condensate drain Flask fitted to exhaust
• Electrical Isolation Switch at plant control panel
• Alarm and BSM output connections
• 5 wire and earth 24v A.C remote wiring

NB: Electrical control equipment is housed in a separate enclosure which is also mounted on the Chassis adjacent
to the Vacuum Pump. This enclosure has an Isolating Switch, Motor Contactors, Thermal Overload Relays and a
Vacuum Switches.

Operation of the A.G.S.S. Unit is by separate Remote Control Units,

which can be connected in parallel to give control in several different
locations ( Remote BMS contacts and separate Alarm contacts that
open on Plant or Plant Power Failure are provided).

2 Storage
All products are separately packaged, clean for Medical use and should be stored under controlled conditions..

3 Environmental Conditions
Millennium’s AGSS plants can be safely handled and stored under normal working and environmental conditions.
Adverse environmental conditions and harsh abrasives or chemicals may cause damage.

4 Mechanical Installation
The Plants may be floor mounted in any convenient location that is adequately ventilated. If the Plant is located in a
confined space take care not to obstruct the flow of cooling air to the Motor End Fan. The Plant should not be
operated in ambient temperatures exceeding 40 degrees centigrade.

It is advisable to keep Pipe Runs as short as possible avoiding unnecessary twists and bends. Where long or
torturous Pipe Runs are unavoidable consideration should be given to increasing pipe diameters.

• The Pump is intended for use with BS EN ISO 9170 outlets with a maximum resistance to flow of 70 mbar
at 130 l/m.
Page 1
Chassis Mounting
Chassis Mounting to the floor should be provided by means of suitable Floor Fixings through the base of the
Chassis. The Mounting Holes in the Chassis are 10 mm diameter.

Inlet and Exhaust Pipe Work

The direction of flow is indicated on both Inlet and Exhaust Ports of the Pump. Stub Pipes are provided for soldering
to 42mm or 54mm Inlet and Exhaust pipes. The Exhaust should run as directly as possible to atmosphere.
The Exhaust is fitted with a Condensate Drain Flask.

5 Electrical Installation
Electrical Power Supply should be provided via a fuse supply.
Connections should be made to the relevant wiring diagrams.

Thermal Overload Relays.

The Control Panel contains an Over Current Protection Cut – Out Relay for added safety on the Pump. This Cut –
Out will operate when excessive current is being drawn by the Pumps Motors, or if a Phase is lost. The Trip Current
is set on the Disc on the front of the Relay at the factory and should not need adjustment. There is a red Test
Button, which allows testing of the Relay (this will only function if the Motor is running i.e. switched on at a Remote
Control or at the Hand Auto Switch at the main Control Panel). The Relays can be set to either Manual or Auto.
Reset. They are factory set to Manual Reset and it is recommended that they are left so (the Relays are there to
indicate that there is a fault and in Auto Reset the Unit will continue to trip and reset itself until the Motor finally
fails). Abuse of this type of Pump usually ends up in replacing the whole Pump.

Vacuum Switches.
The Vacuum Switches are mounted inside the main Control Unit and connected via a plastic tube to the Pumps
Inlet. The Standby Run Switch is factory set to 85 mbar and the Low Vacuum Switch 60 mbar, they should require
no adjustment.

Remote Control(S).
The Remote On/Off Switch, Running and Failed Lamps are mounted in a 2 gang Facia. The Remote requires 5
Cores and an Earth to connect to the Plant Control Unit; Power On, Running, Failed, Neutral and an Earth (see
relevant Wiring Diagrams).

General Note.
It is recommended that a qualified Electrician carry out all electrical work.

6 Vacuum Relief Valve

The Vacuum Relief Valve is factory set to 125 mbar, it is strongly recommended that this not be adjusted without
the proper setting equipment and after consulting M.M.P.Ltd.

7 Operation
In compliance with current Health & Safety legislation a Risk Assessment should be undertaken.
A permit to work should be issued to control maintenance activities, the AGSS Plants should only be installed in a
controlled area.
Page 2
It is the responsibilities of the owner to ensure that only qualified engineers install and maintain the equipment.

DETAILED RISK ASSESSMENTS ARE AVAILABLE ON REQUEST

NOTE; Before powering up for the first time, or after maintenance work, ensure that all Remote Control Units are
switched OFF.

With the A.G.S.S. System correctly installed and the Electrical Supply at the Fuse Board connected, switch on the
Isolator Switch on the front of the main Control Box.

When any of the Remote Control Units are switched ON, the Vacuum Pump will run and the Green ‘Running’
Indicator at the Remote Control Units, which are switched on, will illuminate. This is the normal operating condition
for the A.G.S.S. System. Green Running Lamp should be illuminated on each of the Remote Control Units in
operation.

If at any time the Duty Pump does not achieve a vacuum of 85 mbar, the Standby Pump will start and run for a
minimum time of 5 minutes.

If at any time whilst the System is running the Low Vacuum Switch does not detect vacuum greater than 60 mbar
for the System, the Vacuum Fail Lamp on the Control Panel and on the Remote Control Units, which are switched
on, will illuminate.

8 General Maintenance
Power Unit.
The Power Units require no lubrication. In the event of breakdown attributable to mechanical failure the Unit should
be replaced completely.

Routine Maintenance.

Monthly.
1. Check the Vacuum Relief Valve Filter for contamination
2. Check the operation of the Power Unit and Remote Switches.
Annually.
1. Change the Vacuum Relief Valve Filter
2. Check that the Relief Valve Setting has not been disturbed and reset if necessary.

Service Parts.
When requesting service parts, please quote the Pump Serial Number of the Power Unit, together with a description
of the components required.

WARNING! Health and Safety Note

Before attempting to perform the above procedure, we recommend the use of the following PPE (Personal
Protective Equipment):

• Goggles
• Disposable gloves
• Disposable mask
