RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
2017-2020: Ph.D. Research: Development of semi-empirical sand fines erosion model for elbows in
liquid-solid and slug flow
To evaluate and develop semi-empirical models of the sand fines erosion for different flow velocities,
particle concentration on the long radius elbows of steel experimentally, and by simulating the liquid-
solid erosion process using the discrete phase model.
Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamdan H. Ya
2013-2015: MS Research: Modeling and simulation of flow-induced vibrations in wind turbine tower
To study the vortex shedding phenomena by varying the taper angle of the wind turbine tower. FSI is
performed to know the maximum deformation and stresses, response frequencies, and amplitudes of the
wind turbine tower.
Supervisor: Dr. Hussain Abbas
