Surface Description Smooth WIR/IR
Orientation of test area Vertical
Preparaion of Specimen / Conditioning Oven dried
Cap Diameter, mm 85
Method of Sealing the cap Cap wit rubber gasket
Area of water contact of the Cap (mm²) 5675
Length of capillary tube, mm 450
Intial weight of the specimen (before oven drying), g. ---
Weight of specimen after drying ---
Is constant mass of specimen achieved (Yes/No) Yes
Temperature of the concrete surface (toc)
Time Interval, min. 10 min. 30 min. 60 min.
Period during each movement is measured, sec. 120 120 120
Multiplication Factor 0.5 0.5 0.5
*Scale Reading @ 10 min.
** Scale Unit ml @ 10 min. (m2.s) ------
*Scale Reading @ 30 min.
** Scale Unit ml @ 30 min.(m2.s) ------
*Scale Reading @ 1h
** Scale Unit ml(m2.s) ------

Temperature correction factor 1.40

Results corrected to equivalent 20oC Values ( refer

to Table.2)
#VALUE!

Remark :
1- If the movement over the 5 s period exceeds 30 scale divisions record the initial surface absorption as more than 3.60 ml (m2.s)
2- If the reading taken 10 min. after the start of the test is below 0.05 ml (m2.s),stop the test and record the result with the comment "concrete too
impermeable to be sensitive to a longer term test"
3- If the reading taken 10 min. after the start of the test is above 3.60 ml (m2.s),stop the test and record the result with the comment "concrete too permeable
to be within the sensitivity of the test method.
4. Constant mass is achieved when not more than 0.1 % weight change over any 24 h drying period. If constant mass is not achieved dry the specimen in
oven for 24 h again and repeat doing so until constant mass is achieved.
