Discussion: Learn About It!

A news report presents facts about people or events. It does not

contain the writer’s opinion.
Source: English Expressways IV 2007

With the advancement in technology, news reports are being gathered

and delivered using different platforms. It is important, therefore, for the
readers or listeners to be vigilant and critical as to the truthfulness of the
facts presented. That is why constant reminders are given to read and listen
for news just from legitimate information sources.
The first paragraph of the news is called the lead. It is the most
important paragraph of the entire account. It usually answers the questions
who, what, where, when, and why, and of the news but not necessarily
all. The how is usually answered in the support paragraphs.
