Question: We must believe in all prophets. They are great leaders with great qualities. But
Holy Prophet PBUH possesses many unique features. There are several sole characteristics of
Holy Prophet PBUH have been mentioned in the Holy Quran and Hadith. For example:
1. His prophet hood is universal.
2. He is seal of prophet hood.
3. Deen is completed upon him.
4. A position of praise and glory will be granted to him on the Day of Resurrection.
Describe comprehensively above-mentioned characteristics of Holy Prophet Muhammad

1. His prophet hood is universal.
Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) was born and died in the month of Rabi-ul-Awal.
He is an embodiment of mercy for all mankind.
All the Prophets guided the humans. But Mohammad (PBUH) brought a revolution in
the lives of the people. This revolution is example-less in the history of mankind.
The Holy life style of the Prophet (PBUH) guides us in our individual and collective
life.
‫ق ِع ْن َد َربِّ ِه ْم ۗ قَا َل‬ ِ ‫اس َوبَ ِّش ِر الَّ ِذينَ آ َمنُوا أَ َّن لَهُ ْم قَ َد َم‬
ٍ ‫ص ْد‬ َ َّ‫اس ع ََجبًا أَ ْن أَوْ َح ْينَا إِلَ ٰى َر ُج ٍل ِم ْنهُ ْم أَ ْن أَ ْن ِذ ِر الن‬
ِ َّ‫أَ َكانَ لِلن‬
ٌ ِ‫اح ٌر ُمب‬
‫ين‬ ِ ‫ْال َكافِرُونَ إِ َّن ٰهَ َذا لَ َس‬
“Is it wonder for mankind that We have sent Our Inspiration to a man from among
themselves (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW) (saying): "Warn mankind (of the coming torment
in Hell), and give good news to those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and in His
Prophet Muhammad SAW) that they shall have with their Lord the rewards of their good
deeds?”
2. He is seal of prophet hood.

The description of the Seal of Prophethood has been narrated in the saheeh Sunnah.
It was an area of raised skin the size of a pigeon’s egg, between the shoulders of the
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). It was surrounded by moles and
on it were some hairs.
Al-Qurtubi said: The proven ahaadeeth are agreed that the Seal of Prophethood was
something raised near his left shoulder, the size of a pigeon’s egg.
There is no proof that the name of Allah or the name Muhammad were written on the
Seal, or any other words.
Verses of the Holy Qur’an are also clear proof of the end of prophethood with the Prophet of
Islam.
َ ‫َّما َكانَ ُم َح َّم ٌد أَبَا أَ َح ٍد ِّمن رِّ َجالِ ُك ْم َولَ ٰـ ِكن َّرس‬
‫ َو َكانَ اللَّـهُ بِ ُكلِّ َش ْي ٍء َعلِي ًما‬ َ‫ُول اللَّـ ِه َوخَ اتَ َم النَّبِيِّين‬
“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Apostle of God and the Seal
of the Prophets: and God has full knowledge of all things.”
This verse was revealed when the idea of foster children was prevalent among the Arabs.
They would accept a child who had a different mother and father as their adopted child and
they accepted the child into their home as if it was their own child. The child was Mahram
and would inherit, etc.
3. Deen is completed upon him.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his last sermon (Khutbah) on the
ninth of Dhul Hijjah (12th and last month of the Islamic year), 10 years after Hijrah
(migration from Makkah to Madinah) in the Uranah Valley of mount Arafat.
His words were quite clear and concise and were directed to the entire humanity.
After praising, and thanking Allah he said:
people, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast
during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can
afford to.
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a
non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black
nor a black has any superiority over white except bypiety (taqwa) and good action.
‫ير َو َما أُ ِه َّل لِ َغي ِ‌ْر هللاِ بِ ِه َو ْال ُم ْن َخنِقَةُ َو ْال َموْ قُو َذةُ َو ْال ُمتَ َ‌ر ِّديَةُ َوالنَّ ِطي َحةُ َو َما أَ َك َل‬ ِ ‫ت َعلَ ْي ُك ُم ْال َم ْيتَةُ َوال َّد ُم َولَحْ ُم ْال ِخ‬
‌ِ ‫نز‬ ْ ‫حُرِّ‌ َم‬
‫ب َوأَن تَ ْستَ ْق ِس ُموا بِاأْل َ ْزاَل ِم‬ ِ ‫ص‬ ُ ُّ‫ۚ ال َّسبُ ُع إِاَّل َما َذ َّك ْيتُ ْم َو َما ُذبِ َح َعلَى الن‬
‫ت َعلَ ْي ُك ْم نِ ْع َمتِي‬ ُ ‫ت لَ ُك ْم ِدينَ ُك ْم َوأَ ْت َم ْم‬

ُ ‫ ْاليَوْ َم أَ ْك َم ْل‬ ۚ ‫اخ َشوْ ِن‬
ْ ‫س الَّ ِذينَ َكفَ ُر‌وا ِمن ِدينِ ُك ْم فَاَل ت َْخ َشوْ هُ ْم َو‬ ٌ ‫ٰ َذلِ ُك ْم فِ ْس‬
َ ِ‫ق ۗ ْاليَوْ َم يَئ‬
‫ف إِّل ِ ْث ٍم ۙ فَإ ِ َّن هللاَ َغفُو ٌ‌ر َّ‌ر ِحي ٌم‬
ٍ ِ‫ْر ُمتَ َجان‬ ‌َ ‫ص ٍة َغي‬َ ‫ فَ َم ِن اضْ طُ َّ‌ر ِفي َم ْخ َم‬ ۚ ‫يت لَ ُك ُم اإْل ِ ْساَل َم ِدينًا‬
ُ ‫‌ض‬ ِ ‫َو َر‬
“Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath
been invoked the name of other than Allah; that which hath been killed by strangling, or by a
violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which hath been (partly)
eaten by a wild animal; unless ye are able to slaughter it (in the due form); that which is
sacrificed on stone (altars); (forbidden) also is the division (of meat) by raffling with arrows:
that is impiety. This day have those who reject faith given up all hope of your religion: yet
fear them not but fear Me. This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My
favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But if any is forced by
hunger, with no inclination to transgression, Allah is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful”.
4. A position of praise and glory will be granted to him on the Day of

Resurrection.
The Quran has made it clear that the prophethood was started with Hazrat Adam and
was ended with the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
No prophet will come after Mohammad (PBUH). It shows that his prophethood is
universal.
He is not the prophet of his age but he is the prophet of every age. He should be
obeyed in every age. Truth is forever.
The modern systems of making people slaves is useless. Islam guides people in every
field of life. That’s why the non-believers are attacking the faith of Khatam-e-
Nabuwat and Namoos-e-Rasalat.
َ ِ ‫ قَا َل َرسُو ُل هَّللا‬:‫ع َْن أَبِي هُ َري َْرةَ قَا َل‬

‫صلَّى هَّللا ُ َعلَ ْي ِه َو َسلَّم‬
َ ‫ إِ َّن َرحْ َمتِي تَ ْغلِبُ َغ‬:ُ‫ع ِع ْن َده‬
" ‫ضبِي‬ َ ‫ َكت‬،َ‫ضى هَّللا ُ ْالخَ ْلق‬
ٌ ‫ فَه َُو َموْ ضُو‬،‫َب فِي ِكتَابِ ِه َعلَى نَ ْف ِس ِه‬ َ َ‫"لَ َّما ق‬
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the
Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬said:
“When Allah decreed the Creation, He pledged Himself by writing in His book which is laid
down with Him: My mercy prevails over my wrath. It was related by Muslim”.
