About this Service Manual

Please note the following information

Servicing This service manual is intended for your information only.

Possession of this manual does not constitute authorisation to
perform servicing. Servicing may be performed only if you are:
– trained on the unit in question by B. Braun
– registered for the update service
– possess the necessary test equipment and tools and
– meet qualification and training requirements

Technical safety checks B. Braun also recommends that you attend a training session
for technical safety checks, or at least that you perform them
using the current version of the manual in question, as:
– the technical safety check demands that the procedural
information in this manual be observed;
– the service manuals also provide a reference for
measurements and the service program has to be called
up depending on the type of unit. If not handled properly,
this can lead to the unit being in a dangerous condition.
What is more, a special service adapter may be required.

Validity This service manual represents current status when written.

Technical changes, especially to software, are possible at any
time. The change status of the service manual is indicated by
an index number on the front page.

Update Service Possession of this service manual does not automatically

include the update service. You register for the updating
service by:
– attending a B. Braun Melsungen technical training session
or
– sending a written application to B. Braun Sales
(chargeable).

Exclusion of liability B. Braun Melsungen AG accepts no liability for damages or

injury to persons, property or any other damages resulting
from
– use of the wrong service manual, or a service manual
which does not correspond to the current edition during
maintenance, repair or servicing of the unit
– the service technician not being registered for the update
service provided
– the service technician not attending a technical training
session by B. Braun Melsungen for the unit in question.

be ........................................................................ used.
Free 20 ml and 50 ml Type
The reloadable files for the setting of the free syringe types
are available from B.Braun.

- Reload free types

Select reloadable syringe types from the file list. Then load
type. The data is displayed after loading. Note the syringe

- Delete Free Types

Reload a free syringe type, consisting of zero values.
Depending on volume: 20ml_0.spt and 50ml_0.spt. The
respective free syringe type is now deleted. Pay attention
that ........................................................................
the syringe selection is adapted if necessary (e.g. if „Free

If the delivery rate, the bolus rate and the syringe selection
are modified the values must be checked in the Perfusor
compact after quitting the service program!
A pressure calibration must be performed after modifying the
bolus rate.

Service Interval
Read and reset the service interval timer. Thus a customer
specific service interval can be selected. If the preselected
time has expired the alarm message „Service Interval“ is
displayed after the unit is switched on.

Max. timer setting 20440 hours (is equivalent to 8 years, with

an average operation of 7 hours per day). If the counter is 0 a
service alarm is generated every time the Perfusor compact is
switched on and the service key flashes on the LCD. The
audible alarm can be acknowledged during the therapy time.

Further menu points are of no importance to service.

der, axial positioning, drive head, clamp and push button sensor)

Membrane Keypad:
Check stickiness, cleanlinesss and seat.

Battery Compartment and Contacts:

Check condition of the contacts (tight seat, not bent).

Unit Feet:
Check completeness and correct seat.

Check holder for pole clamp, side latch mechanism function.

Cleanliness:
Check cleanliness of unit, if necessary clean with Meliseptol.
Check labels and inscription.

2. Function Inspection
LCD self-test 111/222/555, alarm test:
Switch-on Perfusor compact and press down ON key. The display
is driven for approx. 20 sec. Check the matrix during this period.
If the ON key is pressed longer than 20 sec a unit alarm is
activated. Compare with display.

Staff Call:
Check with MFC plug (also see: Inspection after Operation in
Service Program, point 4, page 34).

Note: In the service program the different signal modes can be

selected if the unit is switched off, i.e. static, dynamic with alarm
and dynamic without alarm.

3. Inspection
Open latch on drive head. Check function of the latch machanism
and push button sensor alarm. If a syringe is not inserted the
push button symbol must flash on the LCD.

Insert the calibration template (order no. 770 153/5) and close
syringe holder. The latch must automatically lock, the syringe
symbol must no flash on the LCD.

Acknowledge OPS with F key. Type 1 2 , 3 and press START. The

pump delivers 12.3 ml/h. The set delivery rate must be displayed.

Open Latch.
Alarm by buzzer and positive locking sensor alarm. Drive stops.
Latch must not lock into top position.

Connect MFC service plug, acknowledge START. Drive delivers

with 12.3 ml/h.

Type sequence C 9 6 F.
Pump delivers 96.0 ml/h. Set delivery rate must be displayed.

Pull syringe holder.

Switch posibility staff call: Red LED in MFC service plug is shortly
on. Drive stops.

Type sequence F 3 C 3 F START.

Pressure switch-off stage 3 is activated.

Press START, then press F and 1 simultaneously.

Bolus is delivered (upto 40 N).
The pump delivers with 96.0 ml/h and switches off between 45
and 70 N. Document the value in the inspection protocol.

Type sequence F 3 0.
Wait until the syringe template is fully relieved. Only then remove
the template and slowly close the syringe holder.

Insert the potentiometer template 20 ml and 50 ml.

20 ml and 50 ml must be displayed in the syringe symbol.
Switch off the Perfusor compact.

Check initial and final alarm.

Fill a 50 ml syringe with a volume of 6 ml, acknowledge 50 ml
OPS with F key.
Type C 9 9 and press START. Pump delivers and activates an initial
alarm at a volume of 5 ml (check point 1).
Press and hold F and 1 simultaneously. Bolus until final alarm
(must not go into pressure alarm).
Fill a 20 ml syringe with a volume of 6 ml, acknowledge 20 ml
OPS with F key. Acknowledge start. Pump delivers and activates
an initial alarm at a volume of 5 ml. Press and hold F and 1
simultaneously. Bolus until final alarm (must not go into pressure
alarm).

5. Pressure Stage
(Pump delivers with 96.0 ml/h)
- Check pressure stage 1 set value 15 - 35 N
- Check pressure stage 2 set value 30 - 55 N
- Check pressure stage 3 set value 45 - 70 N
- Document the measurement values in the inspection protcol.

6. Patient Leakage Current

(according to IEC 601 part 1 respectively EN 60 601 part 1)
- Remove rechar. battery or battery. Unit in standstill condition.
- Connect rated voltage + 10 %.
- Measure the patient leakage current between shorted mains
input and positive pole (battery compartment top right).
- Set value ≤ 10 mA, document the value in the inspection
protocol.

7. Stackable Function
Stack units (max. 3 units) and check secure seat of the fastening.

8. Completeness
Check completeness of accessories and document in the
inspection protocol.

ESD Recommendations Semiconductors can be destroyed by electrostatic discharge.

Especially MOS components can be damaged by interference
from electrostatic fields eben without discharge via contact.
Damages are not immediately recognizable. Unit malfunctions
can even occur after a long period of operation.

Every workstation must be equipped according to the

recommendations with the necessary static protective
measures if ESD components or boards are handled.

Workstation Single Workstation

Every workstation must be equipped with a conductive table
surface. The conductive surface and soldering iron must be
grounded via protective resistors.

Chairs must be of antistatic design. The floor or floor mats must

be of electrically conductive material.

Personnel must wear conductive wristbands which are connected

to a central ground potential via protective resistance conductors,
e.g. the ground contact of a mains wall outlet. Furthermore it is
recommended that personnel should wear cotton clothing and
Ifm 041 electrically conductive shoes to prevent electrostatic charge.
